I see famous people!

I'm sure the people who live in California have a ton of celebrity sightings, haha.

I live in FL, but I've never seen any famous people here just randomly. Of COURSE I'm going to see rock stars at a concert!

I guess you could say the same thing about seeing Paula Deen outside her restaurant in Savannah, GA. Now I really wish I could have met her, because all I watch is Food Network and she has such a wonderful personality.

What really bugs me is that they filmed Edward Scissorhands in my very own city! I could have seen Johnny Depp and gained bragging rights for my whole life, if I had only been born then. The other day I remembered that my dad had seen Winona Ryder walking her dog while he was at work, and I felt like I had gotten punched in my stomach. I got so jealous, even though that happened 18 years ago.

Oh, I would've cried if my dad told me something like that. And then I would refuse to speak to him until he could convince me that he was lying.

I never see any famous people in Nevada, except for at concerts.

Great, now I'M jealous. :| EDIT: I'm also jealous of your great avatar.

Not many celebrity sightings here. I met Tony Hawk when I went with my uncle and cousin to a skate show he was doing. That's about it lol.

Haha, I mentioned it to him and he said it was someone else. I told him he was wrong. :P

I've seen quite a few celebrities around, but it's hard to remember them all when you try to think of them all at once.

The most famous person I've ever seen was (former) President Bush, when he visited Melbourne in the early 90's.

We were driving out of the city on the freeway and the traffic was stopped to let him through in the lane next to ours.

I was only a kid and I remember hanging out the sunroof...lol. He had his window open and he looked up at me and waved. That was fun, but at the time I didn't really grasp his importance. I think I said something like "Why do we all have to stop? He's just the President!" Haha

The only famous person I think I've seen in person is Mark Hunter from the band Chimaira.

He takes kickboxing where I go, hah. He used to come regularly, then he was on tour for some months, then spending time with his girlfriend for another month or two. He just recently came back this past week. Hes a cool guy, I like to pick on him.

Thats it though.

Doctor Who (Christopher Eccelston) apparently went to my high school. Though I think the ice cream man was lying to me.

If anyone watches Coronation(sp) Street in the UK, we've sighted a lot of them around. Also, when Cradle of Filth were in Manchester a few years ago, the bassist sat down next to my friends round the back (and got completely ignored because my friends didn't like him). An ex-boyfriend of mine also sat next to Herman Li on the bus, but apparently he's a right wanker.

I haven't seen a lot of famous people myself, actually. All I knows is we have a few famous people who come from our area (ol' Ian Curtis and the Madchester lot).

OH OH OH, wait, now I remember one.

Una Baines, a founding member of the Fall and the keyboardist is mother of a friend of mine. Yes, I've been to her house, got drunk with her son, and given her a bottle of rum. We used to go round there almost every weekend... but that's as close to fame as I got XD

I think that if each person really thought about it, they'd probably find some link to fame either in their family tree or through people they know. It can be pretty interesting, the whole six degrees of seperation thing. :catgirl:

On this subject I remembered that my dad used to be friends with former Prime Minister, Bob Hawke (which will not be particularly interesting to anyone other than an Australian, haha). They were mates prior to Hawke becoming PM, though (back when he was leader of the Australian Council of Trade Unions - or ACTU as it's commonly known).

Also my dad used to play squash regularly with Frank Sedgeman (hopefully I'm spelling his name right!) He was a tennis player during the 1960's and he won at Wimbledon and Roland Garros. We used to stay at his holiday house at Phillip Island once a year, although his daughter recently sold it, which sucks.

I'm not quite sure how or why, but my dad seems to have met a lot of interesting people. He has had dinner with the Lord Mayor of Melbourne (John So) and he even met Wesley Snipes when he came down to Melbourne (I think it was something to do with the Planet Hollywood that was here, which is now gone... bleh).

Somehow he gets himself into these situations. It's weird.

Also my partner has had dinner with the (former) President of Fiji. I wouldn't say that he is terribly famous though, haha.

I don't really know anyone famous as such, at least not directly. I'm friends with Charles Martinet, who does the voice for Mario and various other cartoon characters...but that's about it, haha. I have a long way to go to catch up with my dad, apparently. o_O

I thought that when I was 10 and Bill Clinton was in town and we had to completely detour just to get into our HOUSE.

I remember thinking: "....so why are we stopping for that fornicating country bombing jerkoff anyway?"

Let's see, I saw Kobe Bryant at the In-And-Out hamburger joint in Irvine, CA but let's face it. It was Irvine. Famous people live all around there and Malibu beach. Also saw Jon Davis from Korn at a gas stop. He was driving a baby blue Ferarri and wearing a Slayers T-shirt. I ignored him to be honest, mostly because I was having trouble not laughing over how short he was. Seriously Indi, you're taller than him.

When I was 13 at Take Your Daughter To Work Day, Mia Hamm was there and not only did I get her autograph but when she was opening up a Q and A time I asked her in a nice pretty voice:

"So did you ever collect stamps?"

I'd have to think about this, but I can think of one immediately. I'm not sure how many people know who Alan Ashton is. For those who don't he's the co-creator of WordPerfect. I know him for the simple reason that he worked at Brigham Young University, so he knew my ex husband who also teaches.

As far as hollywood type famous actors, I've not met nor seen anyone. I think they're scared to come to Detroit, hehe..

Being in church on the other hand, you get to see quite a few musicians. My pastor seems to have quite the connection. I'm not too good with remembering names (I really need to work on that) Israel and the New Breed performed at our church as well as Mary Mary, Ce Ce Winans, a hispanic band of brothers whose name escapes me at the moment, and then a lady whose name also escapes me. (I want to say Karen Clark Sheard, but I know that's not her name. She's one of the older people.)

And then every month on Thursdays, we have famous choir directors to come in and direct our choir. I think this month, it's Kurt Carr. Last month was Richard Smallwood. I can't remember who was here 2 months before that.

The month of October (which I'm a bit upset that I won't be here) we have Donnie McClurkin coming to the church as well as the Clark sisters. And then my pastor is quite famous himself, here in Detroit anyway. I don't how famous he is around other states (I know he travels a lot.) Pastor Solomon Kinloch Jr.

I see famous people vicariously through my sister, who lives in NYC, and has seen Jesscia Alba, Jon Stewart, Meg Ryan, John Mayer, Stephen Colbert, Orson Scott Card and Jonathan Safran Foer (for the nerds, I think they're cool anyway), and God knows who else. I'll have to ask her for an update.

One of my neighbours is composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, although I've only ever seen him once or twice since he moved into our area seven or so years ago. My mother's seen him a lot more though as apparently he goes the local restaurant for lunch with friends of his sometimes, David Frost has been with him a couple of times apparently. He only lives in Ireland for relatively short periods a year last time I heard.

I met Peter Mayhew at a Star Wars convention in Dublin back after Episode I was released, he seemed a really cool and laid-back guy. It's just a shame he was the only one from the movies there, Liam Neeson could have at least made an appearance, given he is actually Irish, oh well, c'est la vie.

On both my visits to Rome I've seen the Pope when he gives mass, I saw Pope John Paul II the first time and Pope Benedict last year so that was pretty interesting.

Seen Matt Damon when I accidentally bumped into the movie premier of Bourne Ultimatum in London last year. Was actually on my way to see Avenue Q and they were blocking the road, which made me a bit pissed off at first, until I realized that taking a quick photo or two wouldn't hurt for my photo book. After Avenue Q I talked and got on a photo with Simon Lipkin who did vocals for Trekkie Monster, Blue Bad Idea Bear and Nicky. :3

Eh, for the rest I've accidentally had Wir Sind Helden + baby a few inches away from me while they were about to go into a club to prep for a show, but all of you probably don't know them, anyway.

Though apart from some Dutch people (I met my Dutch childhood heroes not so long ago and actually had a decent conversation with them. The woman of the two said I would find "the one" soon enough) and people I saw at concerts and festivals, that's about it.

Well, living in Michigan I havn't seem many famous people, but I've been surprised by a few. I remember one time at Target I swear I saw Wee-Man(I don't know his real name.) and I'm not just saying that because of the person's height, it looked exactly like him. Plus, I heard recently, they're filming the new movie Whip It, or something like that in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area, so I might get a glimpse of Ellen Page. ;)

Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill: I saw them at the movie premier for Superbad when I was in Los Angeles. They actually had the after-party in my hotel... I spent hours looking for a way to sneak in.

Zachary Quinto: I randomly saw Sylar, (from Heroes) walking down the street in LA, but I couldn't remember his name. And I didn't want to randomly scream "SYLAR!" so I stayed quiet and pretended not to know him

Carol Kane: I saw her on broadway. She was playing a character from Wicked...

All these sightings are pretty cool - I wish I could have seen some of them (especially "Sylar" ^_^).

And James - ILU, you have the best celeb sightings, lol.

My mom is related to the Rockefellers (I'm sure I've told everyone that at least three times before. XD), and on the campaign trail, Nelson stopped by their home and took them out to dinner. =)

And a friend of the family used to be an assistant to John Meyer, when he was at his home in New York - she used to take out the laundry and drycleaning, get the groceries, stuff like that.

The only celeb I've met myself (other than voice actors at cons), was Jamie (Campbell) Bower, who was Anthony in the Sweeney Todd movie. And that was because I purposely went to the club his band was playing at, heh. They were actually really good, too. So if you're in the London area, they're worth a gander. And I'm not gonna lie, it was way cool to be so close to him. So adorable, too bad he's got a girlfriend. >>;

My sister saw John Cleese last week outside Chichester train station. There's a massive motorsport event that goes on every year at Goodwood race track (called the Festival of Speed) that hundreds of celebrities go to. One year a friend of mine working there as a waitress met and served George Lucas. I worked as an actor this year and saw nobody >.>; I did last year too, and also saw nobody.

But, at the other motorsport event, a vintage one themed around the 1960's, I was acting at a party and was told to 'avoid' people like Rowan Atkinson, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May, Damon Hill, Rolf Harris (I think...). I managed to stand pretty close to them when mingling in character, hehe.

Some years back I saw Pete Postlethwaite on Chichester train station. At the time he was in a drama called 'The Sins', or something like that, so some idiots were shouting that at him from across the platform. He was being a little silly, mind: it was the grip of summer and he was wearing a massive long brown overcoat, a red scarf and a flat cap. Not exactly inconspicuous when it's about 20 Celcius.

I've met a couple of anime voice actors at conventions; most notably I had a long conversation with Dan Woren after being introduced to him by Panda at Anime Expo '06, which was amazing. He's really cool.

Oh, I was also on the same acting course as Robbie Jarvis, who played young James Potter in the film of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Umm, I've met a lot of random British comedians in my time. I met Michael Palin (most famously of Monty Python) at a book signing once, as well as Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt (who make up The Mighty Boosh, a surreal British comedy double act who are becoming huge over here) after a concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

I've also met Richard Coyle of Coupling fame, as well as Richard E. Grant in Henley, where I used to go to college.

I've also met a couple of member of Reel Big Fish when they were doing a gig in London (namely John Christianson and Dan Regan, the trumpet and trombone players respectively). And members of a slightly less well-known band called Army of Freshmen at the same gig.

Also, I used to go to an after-school club where one of the people who worked there turned out to be Kate Winslet's brother. I don't know if that counts.
