Alright, so we all remember playing with LEGOs as kids, right? At least, you were deprived of a fundamental part of your childhood if you don't. Heck, I still bust out the ol' building blocks from time to time. As I'm typing this, a replica of One Piece's Thousand Sunny is sitting on my dresser. Anyway, you get the point. We all love those little plastic bricks.

LEGO has maintained a presence in the video game industry for a while now. They started off with fun little distractions such as the LEGO Island series, Bionicle and LEGO Racers. Their big gold strike, however, came with the slightly more recent LEGO Star Wars, which was followed up by two sequels (okay, one was just the original and the sequel repackaged with a few extra little bells and wistles,) and the most recent LEGO Indiana Jones (Batman coming soon.) These were all awesome, so what makes this unfranchised little obscurity better than those? Simple, mein frund.

It's a freaking MMO.

That's right. A LEGO MMO. You build your own character, explore the world, see other people's awesome stuff, break it if they let you, build your own awesome stuff and even fight these weird little ghost minifigure things. Of course, there's plenty of parts to choose from, making the possibilities only as limited as your little plastic wallet.

Why am I excited? Besides the obvious, there's also:
-Exploration of a world unbound by franchises where everything is made of LEGO
-An MMO that I'm interested in enough to actually pay for for once
-In the trailer alone I found all the perfect parts to create a Lupin III minifigure for both red and green jackets.

Apparently this won't release until 2009. Until then, the aforementioned Traveller's Tales games will have to tide us over.

Hmm, we'll see won't we.

I loved legos as a kid, still do. Although once they started coming out with the movie sets like Harry Potter I started to get annoyed. And I always hated Bionicle. The boxes of 2400 were awesome, or the Extreme series and whatnot.

We had the Lego Island for the PC, that game was awesome! Until it started to take a nosedive and the water was part of the land and everything started to mesh together.
