[size=1]Ok! This is the voting thread for [b]Week 001[/b], where all members of the OtakuBoards community are welcome and encouraged to join and vote for their favorite banner for the week.
(Notice I said favorite [i]banner[/i], not favorite [i]member[/i].)

The theme for this week was [b]Freestyle[/b], so members were allowed to make a signature using any style/theme they thought fit.

Voting has been extended and will be taking place until [color=red][b]Monday July 28, 2008[/b][/color] @ 11:59 PM PDT.
The next SOTW contest will still begin on Monday though.
The Winner/Runner-Up will be announced on Tuesday July 29, 2008, the rewards/badges will be given out at that time as well.

[SIZE="1"]I voted for Endrance because it appealed to me the most for the following reasons:

I like the curved corners, the color choices, the text, the lighting, and the background. Everything flows together well, and the character render stands out perfectly from the background, but still blends in enough. Endrance gmv.[/SIZE]

I personally voted for Sayrin.

I really loved the red to black conversion fading into one another. and the sharpness of the whole image appeals to me.
Also the text. Simple, Stylish, and Short. wow 3 S's...
And the picture is very nice, I love how perfectly it fits.

[font=trebuchet ms] It came down between the banners of Boo, jigglyness, and Endrance. In the end, I picked jigglyness's, but I felt all three of those banners were great (nice job on the other banners to everyone, though!).

I eventually eliminated Boo's banner, because while I really liked the creative bordering in the bottom left-hand corner, there were just some things I personally nitpicked over. I thought Endrance's banner had nice image/text matching, and the overall package looked very nice, but I picked jigglyness's because I had no real nitpicks about it. [/font]

[FONT="Arial Narrow"][COLOR="DarkSlateGray"]I voted for Boo's signature because it's visually appealing to me and I really think that the character in the signature expresses the statement the signature is trying to convey.

[SIZE="1"]I voted Boo. Second would have been Rurouni922's, however I didn't like the character smack dab in the middle of the sig and the text bothered me, although stock and visual is crisp and appealing. :p

I choose Boo's because I like the style, and I've always loved that pic. The text is a little bland and too large though. The colors are a plus aswell. However, I have seen better from sir Boo.[/SIZE]

[FONT="Century Gothic"][COLOR="Purple"]Okay it was a very hard decision but I finally made up my mind. I voted for Boo! I loved the everything about it the thing that made me decide Boo was the technicality of it. At least to me.

Or is it possible that the text was something that hooked me in? It's probably the emotions that I've been feeling all summer.[/COLOR][/FONT]

I pick Rurouni's because it appealed to me the most. Also, I like all the fancy effects he has going on there around his character. Aside from the font, everything seems to blend in pretty well.

Mr. Maul, I see what you were trying to do with the free style thing but I think there's a limit on how simple you should make a banner. At least put effort into it.

I really liked Treble's as well but Pacman is closer to the bottom then the top of the banner and that threw me off.[/COLOR][/SIZE]

Although he obviously seemed to have forgotten to put any effort into his signature, it is still very visually appealing. It is the only one that really flows with the background of the boards, at least in the OB Standard layout.

It's simple yet elegant. As it begins thinner, curves, & increases in thickness, it reminds me of a well-shaped eyebrow.

[FONT="Tahoma"]I really like the retro feel to Treble's even though I think it would look better if pacman was centered instead of touching the bottom border. It has enough to be visually interesting and yet not too much either. So I vote for [B]Treble[/B]'s entry. [/FONT]

[COLOR="Indigo"]The one that catches my eye is the banner by Endrance. I like the color scheme, the border touch and shape. Overall it's the one that catches my attention the most. So that is who I give my vote to, [B]Endrance[/B].[/COLOR]

[SIZE="1"]I really liked both Treble's and Endrance's images, the former because as Sabrina pointed out it's very retro and bright but not over-powering to the eyes. In the case of Endrance's I really like the colours chosen as well as the style and shape of the image, it's just very well put together as a complete package.

Unfortunately as much as I like both, [B]Engel[/B] is the one to get my vote for having a Warhammer 40K character signature (Black Templar if I'm not mistaken), because I'm a huge Space Marine geek from Dawn of War. As an image as well, it's suitably dark and shows the Space Marine as it's imposing centre. [/SIZE]
