I'm kind of surprised that I couldn't find a thread on this. Who else has watched it?

(If you haven't seen it yet, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a short supervillain comedy musical. It was created by Joss Whedon and co., and it's pretty much the best way to kill forty minutes of your life that I've found this summer.

It's currently online for free viewing (click!), so if you haven't watched it yet, you should.)

Sara, thanks for posting that link. I wasn't aware you could watch it online minus iTunes.

I loved it the entire show. Bad Horse's vocals was the best part, I think. Although, Captain Hammer's hammer being his penis was pretty close too.

Overall, a great...whatever it shall be defined as.

Saw it and loved it. I'm also surprised there wasn't already a thread. And I am ashamed about that as well. I could have done something had I not been so busy watching it over and over. And over.

My favorite parts are probably the Bad Horse bits and Captain Hammer's cue cards in the third part. As for songs, I think it's a toss-up between "Slipping," "A Man's Gotta Do" and "Brand New Day." They're all great, but those three tend to get stuck in my head easiest.

Tried it. Hated it.

I like all the people in this, I just don't like musicals of this...er...caliber. In point of fact I did not have a good time watching it and there's no point in saying I did like everyone who apparently loves it to death. And while I do generally like Joss Whedon, I'm not going to blindly worship everything that comes from his fevered brain.

Example: I hated Buffy, the characters were so dreadfully annoying and let's not go into the cliches beaten to death so savagely it's a wonder the show didn't inspire occular bleeding on my part.

I enjoyed most of the movie. Some of the parts were a little strange even for my tastes. I think the ending was what threw me off the most. Even though I had already expected the horse part. It made you question though if it was all just some random blog that he put up or if he became a real super villain.

The songs themselves reminded me of the Buffy episode Once More With Feeling. Dr. Horribles songs were by far funnier and more entertaining then that of the Buffy episode though.

The best part is how the horse they use as Bad Horse actually looks like an evil horse. I still cannot get over how funny that is. (I also love Fake Thomas Jefferson. He has sinister written all over him.)

Anyway, I like this a lot. My favorite song is either "On the Rise" (the duets between Billy and Penny are fantastic) or Captain Hammer's song in Act III. Every song is pretty good, though.

Also, for those who were less than satisfied with the ending, the Whedons were dropping heavy hints at Comic-Con about a fourth act.

What an excellent movie that is. I approached it hoping the songs wouldn't suck and they were actually pretty catchy throughout, haha. NPH is, of course, awesome and I don't need to say much about Fillion since he is awesome as well.

I'm not sure what the problem with the ending is since it seems to wrap up the events of the three acts in a perfectly reasonable manner. I'm not sure where they'd go in a fourth act since the three acts already combine into a sufficient and complete narrative about Dr. Horrible's rise (or fall depending on how you view it).

I went into watching this with fairly low expectations - I thought it would just be cheesy and slightly irritating as the Buffy musical episode was. But I was pleasantly surprised - it was an interesting take on the whole superhero phenomenon, and although the whole idea of the villain being a nerdy loner outcast but with his heart in the right(ish) place and the hero being a colossal jerk has been done before, I felt this was an interesting enough spin on it to keep my attention.

I also found myself strangely addicted to the songs - I kept listening to them after I finished watching the feature, and enjoyed them again on a second listening.

I was quite surprised to see NPH playing a loser - I'm so used to watching him in How I Met Your Mother and Harold and Kumar that it was something of a shock to see him playing a character so different to the others.

Nathan Fillion was also thoroughly enjoyable as Captain Hammer (incidentally, did anyone else think that Hammer's costume design was made to be an incredibly easy fancy dress costume?), especially his "the Hammer is my penis" moment, and his song in Act III.

So, not normally the kind of thing I would enjoy that much, but I'm glad I watched this now.

Sara, you're so awesome.

I love a good tragedy, I love a good comedy, and I love a good musical. This is all three, and therefore is made of win and god. Wonderful the whole way through.

Especially Dead Bowie.
