Vicky
Ooh yeah. There's nothing I find more intriguing than body modifications. Piercings, implants, scarification, tongue splitting, tattoos... it's all something I've been quite interested in, although having a crap job (quitting in a month) and being underage for most prevent me from getting a lot. So what's your take on it? Got any? Want any? Know anyone with them? Me, personally, I love it. Well, most body mods, some I aren't too keen on (like tattoos of people's names, not too interesting). I have friends with a lot of body mods - one of my friends has three lip piercings, piercings through his cheek, nose and ears (plus a tattoo). I also know someone who I don't see anymore but he did have his tongue split. Tomorrow, I'm getting my septum pierced (which is in the middle of the nose, like a bull ring) and when I quit work I plan on getting snake bites (left and right side of lip) and possibly my tongue for the fun of it. I also plan on getting a few tattoos but I'm not too sure on that one. Most certainly I want a few small leopard print spots from the back of my ear down the side of my neck (if anyone watches Star Trek, think Dax) but I'm aware that not many tattooist do that due to the 'gang' implications facial and neck art has. I'm not really thinking on tattoos right now - I'll do that when I'm older and rich. I'm also fully aware most people think body mods are weird and 'ruin' your body. They do ruin your body... if you do them wrong. But having the right idea of what you want and being careful about it shouldn't ruin it, more over enhance your look, especially if you're into this sort of thing. Oh, and let's not have the 'god gave you a perfect body' thing... we all know nobody's perfect.
Raiha
I am getting a tattoo, well two parts of one tattoo on my shoulders this November, so if this thread is still alive then you'll see. I also used to have three piercings per ear but two were poorly done and I let them close up. I'll probably get them re-done around Marsh next year as my birthday present to me. My navel was pierced by an expert and has finally healed after two years of on and off infections mostly due to my maleficence. I like my pierced body, but I don't think I would do more than ears and navel, probably because I swim regularly and piercings elsewhere would be immediately apparent. And get in the way. SaiyanPrincessX
I'm not into tattoos, or a lot of piercings, but it doesn't really bother me. I only have three peircings. One in each ear, and the cartilage of one ear where I have a hooped spiked earring which is I think one or two sizes larger than the normal size, whatever that would be. :p But as Raiha said about her swimming, with what I do more piercing would just get in the way. I've considered it...but I do martial arts, and its practically my life. I take my earrings out when I spar. So doing that constantly with more than I have would be a complete hassle.
OMNOMNOMALY
Love body mod. Well, most of it. Not so big on scarification or tongue splitting personally but whatever makes you happy :3 Piercings and tattoos in theory are totally ballin' in my opinion but some people make baaad choices and just do not pull off what they choose and that's always the risk, I guess! I don't like dimple piercings or anti-eyebrows so much, though on some people where they do work, it's neat. I enjoy monroes, nose, septum and bridge piercings and lip piercings are some of my favourites. I am definitely considering getting my vertical labret done - I think it's stellar 8D As for tattoos I was seriously trying to convince myself to get one piece of Audrey Kawasaki's tattooed on my back but I'm starting to think it's not such a good idea for a few reasons. It will for sure look funky when I'm older and that's kind of gross to picture and it's really expensive, to name a couple.
Gelgoog Pilot
I used to have my eyebrow pierced but since I needed to get a good job, I was taking it out and putting it back in...it got VERY tiresome so I just left it out one day. I don't have any tatts though I sort of want a couple, maybe not just now but later in life. My Gf has a ton of piercings and three tattoos to date. My advice, research on who to get your tattoos from, getting a license to do body art has NOTHING to do with artistic ability. Adrienne had a large Hawaiian flower tattoo all planned out for her left-hand shoulder, and the artist, if you can call him that could have done far better. Hell I've never handled one of those gizmos and I could have colored and shaded it better.
Lunar
meh........i wanted a little peircing in my nose, just a little one, but my mom said i couldn't........i don't want one anymore. as for tatts, yes i said tatts. i'm wayyyyy too young for one, but when i get old enough, i'm getting a little one on my lower back. i'm not one for alot of tattoos. my friend had a piercing in her eyebrow, she's soooo cool. i want multiple piercings in my ears, but my mom won't let me, either. a doctor can't have multiple piercings.......so i'll just settle with a tatt. it's not good to desicrate your body, you only have one.:catgirl:
chibi-master
I have almost no interest in any body mods. If anything, I dream of getting a tattoo on my forearm that says 'Don't Do Anything Stupid!' because that's what my friend put on my cast when I broke a growth plate in my wrist. Darren
How Coincidental, I plan on getting a tattoo today if I don't whimp out. Actually, I want a total of 4 tattoos right now. I may want more later on, depending on how addicting they really are. I also have an eyebrow piercing and I'm planning on getting two lip piercings. Vicky
Don't take this the wrong way Darren, but I penned you as a guy who would have a nipple piercing =p. I once spoke to a guy online who had a full back piece and he said when he got his tattoo done it felt like a blunt needle on his skin and didn't hurt that much at all. He said it only really hurts afterwards - which isn't so bad because you can wither in pain on your own without looking like a wimp in front of the hard tattooist XD. You should totally get it done ;D I was going to get my eyebrow done, too, but I have a scar on the eyebrow I want it on and if the piercing rejects then it'll just make it look worse. I might try and get one surface piercing and if that rejects then I won't do my eyebrow.
Doublehex
The only piercing I would probably get is an earring. Because let's face it guys - earrings are macho. Now, I have no problem with tattoos. In fact, I plan on getting one myself. Just because Planescape: Torment is such an amazing piece of electronic art and storytelling. Of course, that will only be when I have lots of money...of which, right now, I have little of.

But I don't think I'll ever get a nipple piercing just because of the embarrassment I would feel going in and asking for one. I'm also not opposed to getting my ears pierced. (But that's as far as it goes. I would never gauge my ears like some people) And I was going to go and get my tattoo, but a friend told me I shouldn't since I just got really trashed last night... (Or should I say this morning) She said that even if they let me get the tattoo (which, I doubt they would ask if I'd been drinking recently) that my blood would be thin... I'm not sure if she's right, but I feel really wiped out anyway, so I'll get it sometime this week...

eleanor
I don't really approve of body mod... well to be more specific, I don't like tattoos. But it depends on both the person's ability to take care of themselves, the size of the tattoo, the colors, and the position it's in. I'm getting mine in smaller characters in black and red ink most likely. Both look good on my kind of skin tone, and the size and position of them on my shoulder blades mean that the average person won't even know they're there unless I go to pains to reveal it to them. And whether you know this or not, that's the norm for many people who might appear otherwise normal to you. And eventually everyone will get old and sag and have pouchy eyes and crows feet and age spots galore so tattoos will hardly matter regardless.
Horendithas
I'm not really into body mods, but at the same time I do have pierced ears. I do like having that for earings, but that's about it. Not that I think they're bad, I just have no interest beyond wearing earings. There just isn't much of a selection for clip earings and those things are uncomfortable. The advantage to pierced is once it heals up, you no longer have that issue. Lunar
yesterday i was coming back home and i met this tatooist. he saw my art and pulled out his, mad skills. i didn't know people get tattoos in their eyes! and it costs about 50,000 to get a full back tattoo and takes about a month, i think. they're cool, but i just want a little one. he said it hurts like crazy.

Or if you have sensitive skin, or are very ticklish, and so on and so forth. But as far as the actual tattoo work, the real pain is from the outline. The filling in and coloration doesn't always hurt as much. And again, depending on what you get done and how detailed it is, is how much it will hurt or not. When my friend got her Phoenix tattoo on her shoulder it only hurt around the extremely detailed head and eye and the places over the bones of her shoulder blade.

GSValkanas
I've got my left ear pierced twice. Gonna do a third one soon. My right ear is healing up after a few botched piercings. After it's done, I'm going to get to rings in the lobe and an industrial through the cartilage up top. As for tatts, I want to get on of Heath Ledger as the Joker, and his Birth- and Death-dates underneath on one shoulder. The other shoulder is going to be some design dealing with the Leo symbol, whether it be in calligraphy or just variated from the original. Anything else I'm not sure about. I want to get my eyebrow pierced and get snakebites, or what my friend wants, which is three across each lip, then have them sewn shut.

I'm kidding. I'm just not a fan of dates on tattoos for some reason, much like names of husbands or boyfriends [etc]. I'd tell you to just stick with the Joker or do the red text "Why so serious?" but hey. It's your body baby. I was going to get industrial ear cartilage fun when I remembered that high up is bad. Because high up is where my swimcap goes. But I love the way they look on people, although my friend's 10 gague kept on getting mistaken for a pencil and people kept grabbing it. chibi-master
QUESTION! QUESTION! QUESTION! Do ear piercings hurt? I've been thinking about getting my ears pierced, two piercings in each ear. But I've been hesitating because I'm not sure if it might hurt really badly or if there'll be lots of blood loss...(common sense: How much blood could you lose from your frickin' EAR?!) Advice? GSValkanas
Do ear piercings hurt?
Not really. I've got several and not one of them hurt. They kind throbbed after the fact but never actually hurt. I say get one, and if you absolutely can't stand it then don't get anymore. Lunar
Since you asked for it...... I would say that you won't loose alot of blood........i think. if you do get them, go to a good place, if they mess up it will hurt more! but even if you go to a good place of course it's gonna hurt! no pain no gain! now suck it up! :catgirl:
