Worst Videogames ever made

I figured I'd use the template from the amplitheater thread and bring it here. Now everyone's played some fantastic videogames, and then there have been some so downright awful that we either didn't even bother to finish them, or didn't even bother to really start them.

I'll lead things off with.....

Dungeon Magic: An 80's first person DnD style game my dad bought for me when I was little, and oh my it was hard then. Well I kept ahold of all my old nintendo games and purchased a used console from the local Bargain box, and this game was horrible. It wasn't so much hard to play anymore, but it was horrendous. I know some people will say "Well of course it seems bad by today's standards". Just to nip that in the bud, I frequently used emulators and the like to play nintendo games online. I've beat both legend of zelda's tons of times, final fantasy, quest, all the old classics. Dungeon Magic was downright awful...

Moving more modern.

Chicken Shoot (Wii): My fiancee and I really liked playing Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles for teh Wii. So we thought we'd like another shooting game, we tried the Duckhunt style from Wii Play, and it was fun. We then moved to Chicken Hunt....oh my gosh save for a few cute animations this game was insanley boring. It was the same thing over and over and over and over......

There are several others I can think of, but that would defeat the purpose of this being an opinion thread.

There was this game called the Mark of Kri. I liked it, until I got to a part I couldn't figure out. I usually end up concluding that any game that I can't beat is stupid :animeswea.............anyway, i didn't like it because it had no clear point and that it was boring. another one that i couldn't finish was constintine(i hope i spelt that right) it was just too freaking scary for me to finish. i couldn't even get past the first level!

You silly little duckies aren't quite old enough to remember it, but I can't believe no one has mentioned ET for the Atari. That was by far the worst game ever concocted. Horrible graphics, even for Atari standards, awful game-play, buggy and glitchy as hell. The game just oozed so much fail that it is actually legendary now for it. I'm one of the privileged few to actually play that piece of garbage and suffer through it's horrors.

Another game I find particularly awful is Donkey Kong 64. I loved the SNES games to death and the original DK is a classic, for sure. This game basically was a big fart in the face of all Donkey Kong fans. Imagine a crappily executed Banjo Kazooie. Now also imagine buying that silly memory peripheral just to play a game that had so much fail stuffed in it that it was laughable. The game was slow, buggy and just awful in general. So much hype surrounding it too. What a shame :animesigh

As a fighting game fan, I'm really critical of games that hit that market and I hold them to high standards. Shaq Fu was obviously not one of those titles. This game was soooo bad, it was laughable. I mean, really really laughable. The game was broken, the controls were sloppy and hard to execute and Shaq was actually the worst character in the game! My friends and I play it for lolz now over the internet. Just to keep this crappy game alive...somehow >>

^ DEAR GOD. :animedepr

Hmm. Worst game I ever played? Tie between two Sonic games -- Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic Heroes was so crappily done that I rented it once...January 05, never touched since.

And Shadow the Hedgehog...you know, I didn't play much of this one, actually...because it didn't want to save onto my memory card. But from what I did get to play, I think my card is thankful for it.

...Oh, and one more. Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. At first I thought a Vincent-centric game would be pretty nifty, but I played it, and...maybe it was my disdain for third-person shooters [or any shooters, for that matter, sans Metroid Prime], but ugh, it was so horrifically boring. I didn't get past 30 minutes of it. Not to mention, I'm utterly sick of FFVII being milked for all its worth...and I speak being a huge fan of the original game.

The one thing good about all of this? All rentals, so I didn't waste 30/40 bucks each on buying them.

Also...fsk, Korey, I'm hurt, Donkey Kong 64 was one of my favorite games as a kid. :(

...Although, I guess extra emphasis should be made on kid...

I think DK64's big problem was that there was just too much collecting to be done. And on top of that the gameplay was extremely redundant.

But the actual controls were okay and I think the level design wasn't too bad. It was just nothing terribly new. And I think BK was much more imaginative in every sense.

As far as worst games go, I'm having trouble remembering (maybe I've just blocked out the horrible memories).

I think the first game that comes to mind was Mortal Kombat 4. I had bought the PlayStation version and it is the only game I have ever returned on the same day I bought it.

I played for about 20 minutes and then went straight back to the store and asked for a refund. lol

So that's pretty bad. I haven't done that with any other games, even bad ones.

The game that I would consider the worst eh?

Square-Enix's Unlimited Saga.

Basically a great idea, several characters, a nearly infinite way for them to meet, interact, and conclude with each other. The flaw, questionable art and a completely terribly player interface and style of game play. To me it seemed like a horrible waste of a nice storyline. I ALMOST finished the first story string, but gave up as the very idea of playing the game more made me fall asleep or gave me a head-ache.

I, like James am having trouble trying to remember the games I considered to be bad. The only bad game that comes to mind at the moment is Shadow the Hedgehog.

I found myself battling the camera moreso than the enemies on-screen. I also didn't like the idea of giving Shadow a vehicle to ride around in, and speaking of the vehicles, I had a tougher time trying to move around in them because Shadow kept doing donuts and getting hit in the process.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Seven pages and no one says Bubsy 3D or Superman 64?

For those not in the know, Bubsy was originally a run of the mill 2D platformer before his jump into 3D. Terrible graphics, iffy controls, crap music and an annoying main character does not make a good game.

I cannot say anything about Superman 64 that hasn't been said before.

YES! As soon as I saw this thread, I immediately thought of this game! Man, what a game that was! It was so much fun to play just to laugh at the complete idiocy of it!

Just a note: this thread is a little ambiguous, as it's hard to define exactly what each person is going to take "Worst game ever".

Hahahaha...ET. I'll never get over. So many people blame it for the great video game crash...
That's the point of the "discussion". If everyone had the same idea as to what worst meant than we wouldn't have much of a thread. It's supposed to be vague, I could've made it worst strategy game, worst game for the xbox, etc. But that would exclude a lot of people. By being vague everyone whose ever played a crappy videogame can voice their opinions, and disagree with someone else if they choose.

Ah! I have another game now. Onimusha; Blade Warriors. Stupid game. It said you could have two players, but it didn't let us and all the levels that you had were fighting alot of dumb people. And then you had a so called "Boss" at the end of each round which was one of the seem people you fought before, just in a different outfit!! Another one is "The Thing" that was a stupid video game. Well at least I called it stupid 'cause I ended up killing some of my men and they killed my character.............

I don't think this qualifies the game as being stupid. I think that qualifies you doing something to your men and they retaliated. Standard modern Video Game fare.

Found another one to add to my list of horrible games. Superman 64. Dear lord, I never thought that playing as the Man of Steel would be so darn frustrating. Really REALLY buggy controls, shoddy graphics (Metropolis never looked more like a giant geometry class than this) unclear mission objectives (Lex Luthor wins because I didn't fly through this ring? OMG HAX!), this game was just awful. Total misfire and almost ruined Supes's chances of ever getting another game ever again.

Lunar: Dragon Song for the DS is one of the worst games I've played in recent memory. What kind of RPG doesn't allow you to strategically choose which enemies to attack? Plus, the added annoyance of losing HP from running.
I couldn't even get past the first part of the game, just so awful.
