eleanor
I remember a thread about alcoholic drinks, I'm assuming this is ok. I really hate the taste of alcohol. Whenever I take shots I hold my nose until like ten seconds after I've downed the thing, and I still get the urge to throw up. Screwdrivers are bearable, but I hold my nose when I drink those too. I also find flavored vodka like Smirnoff pretty disgusting, too. Except I enjoy getting drunk, so I'm trying to find alcoholic drinks that taste good. I've heard of midori sour, which sounds good and relatively simple to make. Does anyone else have recs? (remember I'm a relatively poor college student)

BUT if its something flavorful you want to sip on you oughta try whiskey sours, mojito's, mai tai's, they're all good drinks to sip on but have pretty good alcohol content. There's also jungle juice if you get some everclear, soak some fruit in it. My personal favorite drink to get that quick buzz is a long island ice tea (always ask for the top shelf liquours though.) its pretty storng tasting, but will do the job. Rachmaninoff
I remember a thread about alcoholic drinks, I'm assuming this is ok.
I certainly don't see any harm in it. Unfortunately, I don't drink so I don't have any suggestions for you. I do agree that the taste is horrid though. The few times I've had it... ugh. The smell is enough to nail you too, at least for some stuff. o_O
Dagger
Chasing your shots doesn't work? I'm in a similar position, but I'm lucky in that I have low tolerance, so while I do have to drink fast to get buzzed, it only takes about the equivalent of three beers. Being in Japan right now, pretty much all I drink is delicious chu-hai goodness. If you don't like Screwdrivers, you probably won't like Salty Dogs either (I'm a fan of both)... but have you ever tried one? There's a drink called Cassis Orange or something that's also pretty good. ~Dagger~
Akieen Cloud
I like coke and rum, and shots but I'm mostly a wine drinker I so don't really know, you could try wine coolers if your looking for taste granted it would take alot of them to get you drunk depending on your tolerance but its something to think about. Also like Dagger suggested, try chasing your shots with something that tastes alittle better to you?
Lunar
Um, considering the fact that I'm a minor, I really am clueless about alcohol. I've accidently tasted a beer once, I thought it was Pepsi. :animeswea You could try winecoolers, I've never tasted one, but they do look alot like Kool-Aide and considering the fact that they have alcohol in them, they may be really good! When I get of age, I plan to indulge on red wine. Hope that helped..........but you are probably advised not to take advice from a teenager.:animedepr Question: why would someone want to get drunk?
Vicky
My only suggestion is go for things less alcoholic. If you don't like the taste of alcohol, cider, beers and spirits are probably a no-no. But there's quite a few drinks that don't taste alcoholic at all, maybe a few alcopops (WKD and Breezer comes to mind). The only problem is you'll probably still be sat there trying to get drunk whilst your friends have their faces on the table. I think it really depends on the drink. There's a place that does about a million different shots and some of them don't taste alcoholic at all. Mostly I find that shots with fruits in them, strong tasting fruits, don't have that errie alcoholic after taste. Anything with Apple Sour in it, in my experience, doesn't taste too nasty. I'd personally go for watering things down... rum and coke can taste just like weird coke if you mix it correctly. If it really becomes an issue of taste, you should trying doing vodka shots in your eye. Then you don't have to taste it at all!

OMNOMNOMALY
It is indeed fun.. Let's see... there are some drinks that you can also have just as shots. Porn Stars are good and really tasty - they are just raspberry sourpuss and blue curacao, and if you want the drink, it's with sprite. It's like juice. I think I had 7 one night. Which in retrospect seems like a lot. Wow. Haha. Umm.. Candied Apples are also really good, can't remember what's in them... Van Gogh is one of the best shots I've ever had - it tastes like a cappuccino for goodness sakes! I definitely recommend it, though I had it at the bar so I have no idea how to make it. Sex on the Beach is really really good as well, but again it's something you'd have to look up how to make. Those are the most delicious, least alcohol-y tasting shots I can think of for the moment.
Ellerby
Man up. lol If you really can't stand the taste of alcohol then Bacardi Breezers would be good for you. It's rum-based but it's only 5% alcohol (4% in the States) so you can't even taste it. And it requires zero preparation! The nice thing about breezers is the sheer amount of flavours to choose from. There's lemon, pineapple, apple, ruby grapefruit, lime, orange, watermelon, cranberry, coconut, raspberry, blueberry, pomegranate, and mango. If there isn't a flavour there that appeals to you then I'm afraid you're a lost cause. As for me I'll just stick with beer.

Raiha
Drink Jaegermeister and Red Bull, aka the Jaegerbomb. It'll be sweet and cloying and pack a punch but you won't notice until it's too late. Plus you'll get the energy drink spike. OR Mix rum with coke and drink it with a lot of ice. There are several good possibilities, i.e. the grenadine mixer, or the Adios Mother Fcker. Appletinis, Long Island Iced tea, Midori Sours, anything mixed with sours is generally good.
Drizzt Do'urden
I can't believe I forgot this, I'm not sure where you are from. But there's a drink made in Korea (I think its possible to get it, though I know you can't in the states) called Soju. Its the most tastless thing you can ever drink, a glass of Soju with just a teaspoon of something sweet like kool-aid or fruit juice and it tastes like you are drinking a glass of whatever you added, plus the kick is amazing. 4 or 5 of those and you'll be gone, and I mean GONE. Would anyone be able to tell me ifyou can get it outside of the states? (U.K. residents and the such?)
Why would anyone want to get drunk?
I'd have to say I always wondered that. If you keep it in moderation (I only get drunk every couple of drill weekends, and when I go TDY) its a blast. I kind've think it would get old if you did it all the time, but the buzz is the real best thing. When you get that warm feeling in your face.
I'd have the check it out, but you should have no trouble getting that, depending on the percentage, in shops in the UK like Selfridges or all the posh places that do imports. Tescos might do it. Then again, if it's something like the way Absinthe is treated then... try under the counter =p. You can find some shops around that, if you complain enough, will pull out something you can't find anywhere for a nice price. (Or try any Polish places - where do you live? - because my grandad used to have a massive load of Polish vodkas and other assorted drinks and they're very, very strong most of the time, not sold in run of the mill booze shops, bars or supermarkets).
Ol' Fighter
This is advise from an actual alcoholic and that advise is to get a gallon of milk, whatever type of drink you can afford, and chocolate syrup, although this is optional. 1) Pour glass of milk in a cup and fill up the cup to about 2/3... 2) Fill the remaining 1/3 with the drink... 3) Mix it of course to let the drink and milk become one...zzeenn it... 4) Taste it and if you like it the way it is enjoy but if not add a little chocolate syrup to make chocolate milk (my girlfriend loves it; I think it's too sweet). There's my lil' contribution.

(I also like girly drinks, so I'll try to recommend some.) Well, my friends who have gotten drunk on this always end up sick for some reason.
