chibi-master
Okay, okay. I know that this thread is a bit early, but I simply must know, what are some of your favorite Christmas songs? Y'know, the lil melodies that are clogging up the radio stations even before Thanksgiving? Some of my personal favorites... Anything by Trans Siberian Orchestra, Snoopy's Christmas by The Royal Guradsmen(Christmas Bells), and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by The Barenaked Ladies. Lunar
Wow! You know what's awesome? I can play a lot of Christmas songs on the piano. It sounds so much better when you know you're playing music that everyone likes. I'm certainly going to have to play on Christmas. My favorite ones to play are as follows: Ukranian Bell Carol Oh, Christmas Tree Up on the Rooftop Angels We Have Heard on High Silent Night Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy As for other ones, I really like Christmas Time Is Near by the Chipmunks(don't ask) and any other remakes of any original Christmas songs.:catgirl:

Mr. Blonde
The Monster Mash The only Christmas song I really like is the only one I know how to play on the guitar: A Christmas Song by Dave Matthews Band, so it wins by default, being a DMB song. I'll agree with Vicky on this one. Christmas should just be replaced by a second Halloween. or another St. Patty's Day. Yes.

And winter break doesn't give you an excuse to pig out on chocolates shaped like Santa and get and give gifts. It would upset my lazy system. NO. SaiyanPrincessX
Heh, I love Christmas. One of my favorite holidays. I have a lot of Christmas song favs, but a lot of them I don't remember the name of. I tend to like more of the god inspired songs over Santa Claus. Thats not to say that I don't like the traditional Santa songs, but they tend to get on my nerves more, lol. - Mary Did You Know - Silent Night; my mom used to sing this to myy brother and I when we were little. - Silver Bells - Little Drummer Boy; my dad used to sing this to us. - O' Holy Night - O Come, O Come Emmanuel - Angels We Have Heard On High - Feliz Navidad - Mannheim Steamroller - More... Plus of course the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I don't know the names of any of their music.
Drizzt Do'urden
Any orchestrated version of any christmas song tops my list, I've been a sucker for classical music since I joined the orchestra in 6th grade about a hundred years ago. I'm going to have to go with little drummer boy as my all time favorite. It's always the first christmas song me and my family listen to when we get together for the holidays. That or 12 redneck days of christmas...
Nony
I'm amused that, upon seeing the thread title, I instantly thought of TimeChaser. He hates Christmas music. :P I, however, love it. Some of my favorite songs include: - O' Holy Night (especially the version done by Dionne Warwick) - O Come, O Come Emmanuel (possibly my favorite; too bad it's never done enough) - Angels We Have Heard On High - Feliz Navidad (ver. by David Crowder Band) And I agree with Drizzt, I'm a sucker for instrumental Christmas songs. I can't stand when someone decides to "pop"-ify a Christmas melody too much.
Claire
Christmas is my favorite time of the year. The radio stations are already playing holiday music, and people are already decorating their houses. It's not even Thanksgiving yet, but ohmygoditschristmastime. I saw Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert on the fourteenth of November. They are beyond amazing. If you love them now, wait until you see them live. They have about a trillion lights and incredible effects, and are LOUD LOUD LOUD. They play for like two hours. Their lead violinist, Anna Phoebe, is a goddess. I got sick of Christmas music a few years ago, and I sorta still am. I adore TSO, but that's about it. I'm not a fan of the music we're singing in chorus for our winter concert - some madrigals, Little Drummer Boy, and this horrible arrangement of Jingle Bells. Bleh. chibi-master
I just remembered one! The 12 Pains of Christmas! It's hilarious! I especially love the "Putting up these lights!" part. YAYS!
Rachmaninoff
Older Christmas music, like the music from the Nutcracker or the Messiah. Russian Christmas music in that category fits as well. I also like stuff by Mannheim Steamroller, mainly their performances of older music: We Three Kings of Orient Are: The American carol written John Hopkins Jr. in 1857, retelling the legend as it's known. Bring a Tourch, Jeannette, Isabella: A beautiful old 17th century French carol. The Coventry Carol: Originally from the mid 1400's but I understand that they did later version of it from 1591. Wassail: An ancient English carol done in the renaissance style.Carol of the Birds: I believe this one is an ancient old French melody about a flock of birds that flew to the manger to bring gifts, again done in the renaissance style. I saw Three Ships: An English carol of 15th century origin I believe and also done in the renaissance style. God Rest You, Merry Gentlemen: I believe this one dates to the 15th century and the different wording is because the Old English word for "merry" did not mean gay and lively, but rather merely pleasant or agreeable. Most modern jingles as it were don't really appeal. The trend of popular bands singing Christmas songs is something I don't like at all. I'd rather do without Christmas music altogether than listen to that stuff.
