Various Races of the World

Playable Races:

Humans- Humans dominate the planet, and many of their species believe that they are the only creatures on Earth. They regard the other races with superstition and disbelief, having created numerous tales about them. They are relatively unspectacular, most unable to use magic, and are slower, less powerful than the other races as well. However, they are the most numerous, and they are rapidly developing more and more technology to match the strength of the supernatural creatures. They are playing an increasingly larger part in the vampire war, having gone from mere feasts to for the vampires to mercenaries for hire.

Vampires- There are many myths and tales regarding Vampires and their origins in human lore- many believe Cain to have been the first vampire, cursed for the murder of his brother; some believe that Count Dracula truly existed; others believe, that the race of Vampires were created through magical means. Recently, scientists who deal with the vampires have been performing tests on vampire blood and have concluded that the transformation was some form of mutation [an explanation they give for every mystical creature, it seems]. Vampires look essentially the same as the humans, only with much more striking features. They are more powerful, they are faster, and some, though not many, can utilize magic. Vampires also have the natural ability to adjust their physical age, but they immediately lose this skill in the presence of the sun, and the longer they are exposed to the sun, the faster they will age.

They are currently engaged in a great clan war that is rapidly drawing in the other races and setting them against each other as well.

Werewolves- Less speculation has been placed into the origins of the werewolves, but most tales involve some dabbling with magic in tangent with the moon?s powers. Surprisingly, most of the tales about werewolves and the moon are false- werewolves can turn whenever they please, and by no means are required to change under a full moon or lose control at the sight of the full moon. That is, however, the time when they are most powerful. Werewolf forms can range from full wolf [the very rarest] to traditional werewolves- large, humanoid creatures enhanced with wolf characteristics.

The werewolves are largely different in their views of the Vampire War. Most simply opt to keep from choosing an alliance, and though some have joined the two opposing sides, most, surprisingly, have joined the rogues- they believe that the age of secrecy has come to an end, and that they must usher in a new age of revelations.

Sprites- Beings born from magic in an almost entirely human form, they all have some definitive mark that brands them as Sprites- sharp, elf like ears, eyes, hair, and skin all tinted the color of the element they were crafted from; also, located somewhere on their body is the symbol for their element. Their existence is the most mysterious, and they are invaluable assets to whoever may earn their allegiance.

Other Races:

Ghouls/ Hellhounds/ Elementals- When a creature gives into the most bestial element of it?s nature, it can become overwhelmed and physically begin to degrade and become more animal like. Eventually, they lose all traces of their human, civilized mind and are entirely ruled by their hunger- whether it be for blood, for flesh, or for magic.

Ghouls are the vampires ruled by their thirst for blood- extraordinarily gaunt and pale in appearance, they have large black eyes without pupils, and hunch over perpetually. Their strength has been substantially diminished, but they posses an ungodly speed, and can deal successive blows to their preys with such lightening fast speed that it makes up for their low strength.

Hellhounds are werewolves who feed on the flesh of others too many times, and stay in their wolf form for dangerously elongated periods of time. They, too, are gaunt, their bodies thin and shriveled, their eyes large and pupil less as well. As time progresses, their wolf forms become more and more animal like, until they look more like hungry hyenas, hungry coyotes, or furry Ghouls.

Elementals are sprites overwhelmed with the desire to acquire more magic, and thus have allowed their humanoid forms to rot away so they can house more magic. They are absolutely no threat to humans- even humans having dabbled with magic don?t wield a form powerful enough to be devoured by the elementals. They?re akin to Spectres, barely containing their essence in a physical form, which allows them to phase through walls and posses creatures wielding magic.

I have a question for the Alliance in the sign ups. What is a Rogue, a counter-Rogue, and a bounty hunter? What role do each of them fill? (For example, what side are they on in these clan wars?) And what would the Harbingers be? Are they any of these factions or something else entirely?

Thanks for your help, Endless. After I figure this out, I should have my sign posted soon.

I can answer that question, Nessaja. =]

"Rogues" was the original term we had picked for the Harbingers, and absentmindedly forgot to change during editing of the Theater thread, so they are one and the same. The "Counter Rogues" can actually be from either side in the war- pro feeding on humans or anti feeding on humans- but their task is, specifically, to try and eliminate the Harbingers. Bounty hunters are most likely aligned with those who are anti-feeding on human blood, and their tasks would be to eliminate rebel vampires and Harbingers.

I hope that clearly answers your questions. If you have any more concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact me or The Endless. We're glad to see you're interested.

Seeing your answer Omega. Does that mean that we would definitely have to be on one side or another, throughout this RP, I see that you say a Bounty Hunter is one that is most likely to be aligned with anti-feeding, but it can be both ways I will guess?

Just gotta put the finishing edits on my sign-up and I will be hopping on board as well. So I wish to make sure that I'm within my limits.

Well, I was thinking of joining the counter-rogues. But it seems that everyone is joining the Harbingers. So before I put the final edits in for my sign up, should I join the Harbingers so I don't get left out of a lot of the story? Or should I join the opposite side just to make things different.

I would love to hear what you and Omega think, Endless, when you get the chance.

Hello all. Well, to answer your question Nessaja, we NEED people to be on both sides. If everyone just joins the Harbingers then this story becomes very boring with no real antagonist coming after us. If it is just generated by us then this suddenly becomes very pointless, if people join the other sides then the interest level increases and it becomes more fun. So I urge people to try for the other side as well, we need every side we can get to make this work properly. Thank you.

Hiya!:animesmil
Acutally, I was going to be bounty hunter but I changed it to the Harbingers. I was wondering, could my character be a bounty hunter while still being a vampire? That's one of the main reasons I switched.

Well, maybe have her feel remorse or something over all of those feedings? And that's why she decided to be a bounty hunter? That way you could leave in all of the feedings. What do you think?

I think I'll join the bounty hunter side too. That way you and Cheese Master won't be alone in that side.

I'm sorry for the delay everyone. I know I said it would be up a couple days ago, but things came up that will lead to it starting tomorrow afternoon, or tomorrow nights. Hopefully I'll have it up sooner rather then later.

EDIT: Ok, i'm gonna try to make more use of this thread as well. Any grievances, suggestions or ideas that you have can be placed her.

To answer your question: Yes, botar15, this RPG is still in progress. There's been a slight slowdown in activity, but Afro is going to post soon with mission objectives for both sides. I hope everyone, or mostly everyone, is still on board for the adventures ahead.

How should we interact with other characters, combat wise. Anything you might suggest as a best way to do this or a perfered way, Afro?

I ask this because I think we need a little more action between the rival characters, in my opinion of course.

In all honesty, their is no preferred way in my book for characters fighting. If i was going to set some sort of guideline, it wold probably be that if their is a serious fight between characters, there should be at least one post from each fighter. Other wise, it's a crap shoot.
