SunfallE
I joined a site called Pandora a few months ago. Basically it's a place where you list artists or songs and it will pull up other artists and songs (in addition to what you listed) that are similar for you to listen to. It's a fantastic site. However, that's not the point of this thread... what is the point is I decided to create a station to revisit the music I listened to while I was growing up. So I added artists like Depeche Mode, Huey Lewis and the News, Chicago, and Elton John. I thought it would be fun and it was. It was enjoyable to hear songs that I haven't heard in a long time. However, that also brought up the painful realization that I no longer like Elton John it seems. At all. Honestly, every time one of his songs played... I couldn't turn it off fast enough! o_O I finally had to remove that name from my list since it was driving me nuts. Now I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds that music they liked when they were younger, is something they'd rather not hear. Or perhaps something you heard a year ago now bores you to tears. So... share, share, share! What artists or songs can you no longer stand?
TimeChaser
This is always sad to admit, but I really can't stand listening to the Beatles anymore. Yes, I know; shocking, isn't it? I listened to them for many years, but eventually I came to a point where they just didn't have the same appeal anymore. I can still watch and enjoy their films from time to time, but I don't listen to the music on a regular basis. It's a case of, if I heard them playing on the radio or something, I might not mind. But I don't actively seek it.
Vicky
S Club 7, Spice Girls and Steps. They were the fad when I was younger. At some point I listened and liked them. They're the only bands I despise now after growing up near them... if anyone ever says 'Reach for the Stars!' near me then it's not a pretty sight. And I am never amused at it. How awful.
Allamorph
The Beach Boys. In 8th grade, my algebra teacher would play them for anything work-related we did in class: homework, classwork, 'fun' worksheets, discussion/party time, tests. The only song I can listen to by them now, without feeling like I want to find someone very happy and murder them, is "Kokomo". And even that's pushing it.
Gavin
Metallica. I don't even know how I liked these guys originally, perhaps it was because they were the first metal band I listened to but now I go back and compare their stuff to other artists in my library and it's like "Oh God this is crap". Rachmaninoff
Popular versions of religious hymns. I loved them as a kid, but now, other than stuff that is purely classical, they just get on my nerves. Oh and my parents like Johnny Cash. I grew up on that and liked it. Then when I moved out and heard the stuff again, I wondered what I ever saw in it.
Kinetix
Luckily, I was born with impeccable musical taste, so I've never had this problem.
I too find myself in this predicament while viewing this thread. I'm still completely infatuated with everything I was listening to as an adolescent. Whether it be Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Guns 'n Roses or Pearl Jam, the music popular on radio stations as I was growing up, I listen to it all daily. Really anything from the late 80s / early 90s in that grunge era is pleasing to my ears still. What I've found is that I do not tire of the same old music, but it helps me explore other generations of music to see what it stemmed from, such as Pearl Jam being influenced by The Who, or Soundgarden by Led Zeppelin, or Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana by the Beatles. Learning about the roots of modern rock 'n roll has helped me to appreciate it even more.
chibi-master
ANY Country music artist. I always hear FAR too much of them when visiting my Southern relatives (which I'm going to do for Christmas)...
Raiha
No no Chibi, you had to LIKE them before you couldn't stand them. There's a difference. I used to have a thing for Linkin Park, but now whenever I hear them I want to shove my head into a freezer and continue to breathe normally.
Vicky
I found another one! Creed! I used to like them immensely and then when I had gone off them a bit (grew up haha) someone told me they were Christian rock. Next time I listened to them I realised that all the lyrics were about God. Not that I hated them for that, I hated them for how cheesy it became. Which is a shame because their favourite song has become my most detested one of all time. I wouldn't mind if they weren't so cheesy.

But now I hate it with a passion. I start to screech every time I hear it because it's like nails on a chalkboard to me.:animeangr
Nony
I used to listen to this all-female Christian group called Point of Grace when I was younger. For some reason, I really liked them, but going back to their music now... all their voices sound so screechy and do not mix well at all. Oh, to be 12 and musically naive... sbsp13668
Haha! ^.^ I got my first CD player when I was in first grade, so some of the stuff I used to listen to was pretty awful! XD The few CDs I had when I was a kid were: Pokemon OSTs Digimon the Movie OST Avril Lavigne Aarron Carter (the party mix album) and a few mix CDs Of that list the only CD that I still enjoy listening to almost all the way through is the Digimon OST. Surprisingly, the Digimon OST rocks; there are songs such as "All Star" by Smashmouth, "Rockafeller Skank" by Fatboy Slim, and "One Week" by the Barenaked Ladies. I don't remember any of those awesome songs being played in the Digimon Movie, but they're still awesome! The rest of my old music I pretty much hate; 1 or 2 songs from Avril Lavigne and some of those mix CDs are still bearable. :catgirl:
vegeta rocker
I'm going to have to go with Oasis's song Champagne Supernova. The first half of the song is beautiful still but now when i hear the rest I am convinced something is wrong with my L and R channels on my speakers. That is really about it, embarrassingly enough the bad music I liked back in the day I pretty much still like today.

Give it another 20 years. =P I forgot to mention some of the religious music put out by the LDS Church. I find that stuff completely jarring to listen to now. So I have several CD's sitting on my shelf that don't get listened to anymore. o_O

Magus
Let's see. Songs dealing with bling bling, dissing people (I still listen to a few folks here and there), cars... etc You get the jist of where I'm getting at. And I suppose you can say the whole rap genre now too. I mean I grew up listening to it and did like it for quite some time, but once you heard 1 song from back in the mid 90's you've basically heard all the songs that're being played now. (Outside of a few songs) Yeah, it use to be pretty good back then, but for once change it up or just bury the whole genre already.
Roxie Faye
Most of the songs by Ayumi Hamasaki. She sounds a lot like a chimpmunk. Why did I like her so much? I was listening to my Card Captors CD two days ago (it's an American CD, I guess put out by 4kids, who did the English dub for CCS). I used to *love* that CD when I was 11 or so. Now, there's only two songs on there that I still like, a bunch of them that are "meh" and some of them that I think, "How could I have ever liked this??"
Popular versions of religious hymns. I loved them as a kid, but now, other than stuff that is purely classical, they just get on my nerves.
You mean like how every artist out there sings Amazing Grace and makes up their own tempo as they go along? Yeah, I can see how that would get annoying. *nods* There are some artists whose religious songs I do like, but I don't know if they fall in the category of "popular": I like Enya's "How can I keep from singing?" and I also heard Michael Crawford sing some hymns. They were beautiful. Gosh, his voice is to die for. *_*
DragonRider11
I used to LOVE listeing to the same stuff my mom did. The golden oldies along with her old gospel courtets. But, as I grew, I developed a taste for Rock. I still prefer Christian lyrics, but Christian bands can rock too! The more I developed a musical taste, the more it differed from my moms. until we have very few sartisyts in common any more. I love what I'm listening to now, but when my mom plays one of our old favorites, I sometimes wonder, "How did I ever get into that stuff?" I banned her from all my Pandora stations for a reason. Also, "chimpmunk" is great. Annoying as a chimpanzee, shrill as a chipmunk. Japan
I really used to be obsessive over the Backstreet Boys as a preteen. Now, however, I refuse to listen to it. If I do, I start making fun of them and thinking of Blink 182's all the small things. That makes me feel better.

I've moved completely to older renditions, when I actually do bother to listen to music like that, instead of attempts to popularize it. Net result, that kind of music is something I rarely listen to. I'm not really religious anymore either, so some of the lyrics/message just grates on my nerves as well, no matter how pretty or nicely done it is.
