You open the envelope expecting a letter but all you find is a metal ring that fits in the palm of your hand. As you bring it closer to your eyes to examine the ring suddenly pulls away from your hand and floats mid air while a bright green light scans your retinas. You black out instantly and wake up floating in the middle of white space. A comforting female voice sounds out.

"Greetings traveler! You have been randomly selected to participate in a great and honorable event. Please fill out the following registration form." A paper and pen appear in front of you.

Age:
Gender:
Home Planet:
Appearance:
"Thank you, please wait." the paper and pen disappear and waiting music ensues.

I picked up the pen and began to shakily fill out the questionnaire. It took some time, as it is very difficult to write legibly while free-floating in white space. After much cursing, the finished product read:

Name: Stan Harbor

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Home Planet: Earth

Appearance: Seeing as how this is the largest space with which I have to write, I would take this opportunity to inform whoever it may concern that I will be contacting my lawyers as soon as I regain my bearings. Floating in white space does not agree with my weak stomach.

I am a tall man, at six feet four inches. I am just as thin as I am long. Most of my friends make fun of my lanky physique, but that doesn't matter much to me. I wear thick-lens glasses, which are partially obscured by my mop of dark hair. All in all, I am the stereotypical visage of a graduate student of literature.

OC: Hope this is alright, Lrb. Contact me if I did something bad...

The bright light was blinding as I opened my eyes. I had never seen anything so bright. It took a few moments for my pupils to dilate, but I soon noticed the objects floating in front of me. Hesitantly taking the objects, I try to read the foreign language, it seemed to be of an earthen text, so after running it through my translator I begun...

Name: In human tongue, it is pronounced Shiala Kai'mae

Age: 83 in earth years. Though I am still considered an underling amongst my people.

Gender: My kind are a mono-gendered race, so I do not recall the need for a gender. Unless you have taken other species as well...then I would have to say my outward appearance is of a female sex.

Home Planet: Abiss Mul of the Onyx Rayne cluster.

Appearance: I have attached a seeking stone to this information storage device. Once you state my name, an image of me will appear. You may keep the stone to seek anyone you wish.

Blinks a few times to adjust my eyes.

Ma'am how are you? I hate blacking out and while this white space is sure nice and quiet (beats the shouting and arguing of four kids under six- remind me to drug my husband and get him fixed later) it's weirding me out. Plus I'm quite sure the babysitter is waiting for me.

Okay since you've asked nicely:

Name: Elizabeth Annamarie Cartier

Age: thirty, but sometimes I feel like I'm forty, other times I feel like half my age and I want my mother.

Gender: Seeing that I've given birth three times (yeah, twins- BOY twins.) I'm female. In my next life I either want to be male or a nun!

home planet Earth. Western most Canadian province.

Apperance Mussed. I'm five four with green brown eyes. I used to have time to put in my contacts, but now I wear my glasses pretty much twenty-four seven. Dark brown hair, straigh and to my shoulders held in a pony tail as usual so I can run from being a pediatric nurse to being a mom. Yeah it's not that I don't like kids, it's just moms get overwhelmed.

Thank you.

Odd. I didn't think I was dreaming. I've had some odd dreams before but this... this stumped me. This is beyond my capacity. I picked up the pen (quill?) and tried to steady myself. I had to get better at that whole floating thing.

Name: Meredith Bronwen Chase
Age:

You know, I'm not sure. I pondered the question. I always got my real, physical age and my spiritual age mixed up. So I put my spiritual age, as I had been able to discover so far.

132

Gender: Female

Although, I thought, I have always been a tomboy, and have inclinations towards masculinity sometimes.

Home Planet: Earth

Now that one was easy.

Appearance: It matters? With a sigh, I try to describe myself.

Female: Short, bouncy, curly red hair; vibrant green eyes, albeit they are a little TOO large; small button nose and rosebud mouth. I'm only five foot even, bouncy and curvy, with milky skin. I tend towards comfort when it comes to my clothes.

Male Counterpart: Yes, I have that image. Kind of heavy, muscular, tanned skin with sandy hair and blue eyes. Short, stocky. Yes, that's my masculine side. Macho.

I put down the pen, and the music began to play. This was turning out to be odder than I'd expected.
