You are a student at OB High School, and you are also lucky enough to be in the class randomly chosen to participate in the Government’s yearly Battle Royale. An annual tradition held by the totalitarian style government to keep people in fear and in line.

Her high heels clicked across the cold cement floors, echoing through the hallway and into the holding room in which the students were being kept. The scrape of the key in the old lock brought them all to attention. The large metal door slowly swung open to reveal a petite brunette lady in business attire carrying a brief case. She beamed at all of them, ignoring their shouted questions and exclamations. The door slammed shut as she strolled in and the lady stopped behind a tall mahogany desk. Still not responding to their clamors for attention, several of the guards in the room had to restrain students from approaching her. She placed her briefcase down on the table and undid the locks, popping it open. She pulled a stack of papers from the case and then stepped out from behind the desk to address them. Sitting on the edge of the desk, she began:

“Welcome, grade 12 class of OB High School, to Battle Royale. A competition pitting students against students where only one can reign supreme. Or, perhaps none, depending on your cooperation. What is the point of this, you ask? Why, to stay alive, my dear children. The objective is to be the last student standing.

You have all been outfitted with survival packs. They each contain a map, a compass, a black marker, two water bottles, some bread and a weapon. You will each receive a different weapon.

I am your host, Miss A, and I will check in with you regularly during the game to let you know which zones have become forbidden as well as to inform you which of your classmates have fallen.

Let’s talk about the zones, shall we? The island in which the game takes place, has been divvyed up into a grid. Going from 1 to 10 and A to J. Each square on the grid has been assigned a letter and a number and are marked clearly on your maps. Every 6 hours, as I mentioned, I will let you all know which Zone is going to be off limits and when. I’m sure you’ve already noticed the metal collars around your necks. These collars are highly explosive, so hands off! The collars are sensitive to the zones of the island and are each outfitted with GPS. So the second you wander into a forbidden zone, BOOM. You’re out of the game.

In terms of how you play, or if you play, that is entirely up to you. The game is 3 days or 72 hours long, whichever you prefer. Play fair, cheat as much as you’d like, it doesn’t matter. The only rule is that there must only be 1 student left at the end of the game. If not, I will remote detonate all collars and nobody will win. Feel free to team up but do not rely on teammates to actually help you win. In the end, this is every man for himself.

In terms of actual mechanics, this one is gonna be a little tricky. I’m 100% up for any input/ideas/comments/whatever. As it stands right now, I think that I will have to get the community to vote on who they want eliminated and then I will arbitrarily pick someone else to get their character to kill the character that was singled out. I think a lot of that part will have to be carried out by PMs to myself. I’ve already got a bit of an idea worked out for the assignment of weapons and I think we will use the same map as the BR novel. Votes should be based on the strength of a person’s posting, ex: how well they characterize. I guess sort of like a weakest link idea. Obviously it’ll need some tweaking before it’s official because I also need to gauge interest. Depending on the turn out, I may have to set up some Non Player Characters for everyone to use. It’s going to rely a lot on votes to keep it moving and I’m seeing firsthand how hard it can be, so it may be a fairly slow going RP, but I’m hoping it will also be really fun. I lurk around a BR RP group on LJ that’s hugely popular so I took a few pages out of their book. Who’s in?

What I’ll need from you, if you want to participate:

Name: Being that it’s OB High School, I was kind of thinking we would all be ourselves. Or at least some version of ourselves.

Age: 16-18, since you’ll all be from the same grade 12 class. I suppose we could have one or two odd pulled up or held back a grade, if you really want.

Role in the Class: Just because I’m curious! Are you the brain? The clown? The wallflower?

Personality: Self-explanatory. What are you like? Will you be in it to win it?

Bit of a Biography: Also self-explanatory. Give us some info beyond your schooling.

If you need any other info or clarifications, let me know! I like to think I’ve covered it all but I did read the book so I might be taking that for granted and missing something completely obvious without even thinking about it. I've never started an RP before so this will be interesting :X I'll do my best!

[b]Personality:[/b] She has the problem with being someone who loves. She wants them all to survive, but will give herself up in the end if it's between her and someone she cares for. If it's her enemy, she'll take herself. Of course, there will be mounds of guilt afterwards, and she's likely to be unable to cope with life for a long time afterwards. Her main goal will be to find a way to find and defeat the idiots who created the game in the first place.

[b]Bit of a Biography:[/b] In her final year of high school, and she's working on her Thespian credits. She's wasted (so she feels) most of her high school career on making Managing Editor in Newspaper and once she made it into a Drama class, she worked her butt off and has realized (again, so she feels) her talent in acting. She loves the stage and the spotlight like nothing in the world. She has her best friend Jon, and close friends Richard and Stephenie, who she routinely goes and practices parkour with. And so she has proclaimed, "[b]I'm a ninja in training![/b]" At the top of her lungs, randomly one day, in the middle of the street. Oh, yeah, she's definately Thespian material.

[B]Personality:[/B]He is extremely intelligent. A bit of an apathetic person, he is in this to survive, if he can save someone then ok but if not too bad. He has no problems with killing if need be but would rather just wait it out. Deep down he does care about his friends survival but wouldn't but it above his own.

[B]Bit of a Biography:[/B] He is one of the smarter students in the school, could be top of the class if he wanted to, but he lacks a motivation necessary to do so. He is a member of the band a plays a variety of instuments, spends his free time playing or listening to music, playing video games, hanging with friends or going to the shooting range, he is a bit of a gun nut. He is the kind of guy that would likely go on to get some kind of PHD and then be on the frontlines in the military.
