[b]"At least two full companies, sir."[/b]

[b]"So. They want to run me down before the war even starts."[/b]

A creak from the scout's boot on the floor met his words and Morty looked at the young man. His fists and jaw were clenched tightly, more sweat started to form on his brow, his eyes darted subtly to the side now and again, the obvious thought going through his head: there was going to be fighting, people were going to die and one of those people could possibly be him.

How many more would be like him once he informed the rest of the troops, Morty wondered to himself. A lot, more than likely. Both young and old were mixed in the ranks that had been quickly formed in Ecruteak to defend against the very thing headed their way. Different levels of experience, different perspectives...and every one of them had something to lose, no matter how small it may be. There would be a lot of uneasy minds in the crowd once the news hit, but it came with the territory. War is an unsettling beast.

[b]"Be strong. For yourself, your family and the people that will be counting on you to survive,"[/b] Morty said, standing and looking him in the eye. [b]"We're all in this together now."[/b]

[b]"Sir,"[/b] the young man said after a hesitant moment, giving a sharp salute.

As the scout left the office, Morty stood and turned to his window, pulling the slatted blinds up to look over the city proper. He knew it wouldn't be long before he and his own troops would be fighting for their lives—and their freedom—on those very streets. Actual combat was the last thing he wanted, but there wasn't a choice anymore. The League wouldn't listen to reason: their way was the new way—the only way. So time for lines in the sand had come and the League was putting the first foot across.

He looked to the Pokéballs lining his belt and thought all the times he and his Pokémon had been tested before and knew that none of them compared to the battle they were about to face.

Keep in mind, this is intended to be a story-driven game. Battles and fighting will play a large part, but they will not be the entirety of the game. Characters with more inexperience and room to grow and become valuable of their own accord will probably be more fun to play than characters who are locked into a certain avenue and whose value is already predetermined, and will be looked upon more favorably in many instances. Build your characters with that in mind.

Ah yes, I remember this RPG. It's too bad it died the last time... what is it with Pokemon RPG's on this site? If you remember me from the last version of this RPG, you know that I played as five characters last time, which got to be a hassle. This time I'll only sign up as one character, though, as that will be a whole lot easier for both of us and whoever else would like to sign up. I will post my signup as soon as I am done with it.

[b]Bio:[/b] Saitsu joined the Cerulean gym in her teens, partially as a way to rebel against her conservative family's values but also because of her love for water pokemon. Misty's stage manager for the majority of her shows and other engagements, Saitsu is an indispensable part of her entourage, and also considered a pretty heavy hitter of Misty's inner circle. She is motivated by a desire to see justice done and she disagrees with the League's almost shameful use of power and rigidity to control a confused populace. She, like Misty, believe that if Lorelei were still at the Indigo Plateau, she wouldn't stand for the League's methods or their justifications for said methods. As such both of them act in accordance with their beliefs.

[b]Personality:[/b] Taciturn and thoughtful, slow to anger but once roused, will not stop hitting until the enemy is down. Saitsu is famous for her calm demeanor which she'll simply say is only noticeable when contrasted with Misty's bombastic and dynamic personality.

[i]Lapras[/i]: Female, light blue, silver shell. Sing, Surf, Body Slam, and Ice Beam. Saitsu's first pokemon, and much larger in size than the one you'd all know from the TV series.

[i]Chinchou[/i]: Female, dark blue body and very pale antenae. Thunderwave, Confuse Ray, Surf, Thunderbolt. This is the pokemon that everyone underestimates and usually ends up kicking themselves for later.

[i]Dratini[/i]: Female, newly hatched, currently undergoing some very extensive training. Extremespeed, Thundershock, Twister, Leer.

Bio: A prodigy from the Johto region, Terry was one of the most talented trainers to emerge from his hometown of Olivine City before the league took over. When the conflict broke out, Terry was quickly recruited by Morty of Ecruteak City, who immediately placed him in the 1st squad. Terry is not fighting for any particular reason other than to see peace restored to the region. He is a gifted leader due to his ability to seemingly outwit the opposing forces with relative ease.

Personality: Compassionate towards both his Pokemon and his fellow troops, yet ruthless towards his enemies in battle. Terry believes that steadfastness when battling will net the team a victory. He has remarkable patience.

Appearance: On the tall side, mid-length messy red hair, green eyes, freckles, usually seen in blue jeans and a green t-shirt, almost never seen without his favorite blue denim jacket and black headband.

Status: Freelancer under Claire.

Bio: Former Saffron citizen who moved to Blackthorn with his parents 7 years ago, bringing only a few household items and his childhood friend/starter Pokemon, Ruby the Cyndaquil. Rubbed Claire the wrong way upon first meeting her (being ten and all,) and has been trying to surpass her as a Trainer ever since.

Personality: Easygoing and lazy sometimes, but stands for his beliefs and is especially passionate about battling. Also a bit eccentric, spouts odd non-sequiturs from time to time if left alone. Ruby seems to understand most of them, though.

Primary Pokemon:
[B]Ruby (Quilava, female):[/B] Cam's starter. She evolved about 6 months after they arrived in Johto and Cam has been trying to get her to do it again ever since. Considering all the training, it's probably not going to take much longer.
[B]Atlas (Larvitar, male):[/B] A recent acquisition. When Cam was about 16, he accidentally stumbled off of the beaten path to Mt. Silver. He managed to capture Atlas, then nearly got himself killed when Atlas' mommy arrived.
[B]Albi (Dratini, Male):[/B] Received from the Dragon Master, whom he somehow mistook for Santa Claus when he was ten. The kindly old man took it in good humor and presented Albi as a gift, which Cam's parents immediately confiscated and turned into a family pet in order to keep it from getting too dangerous for their young son. The lack of battle over the past 7 years has kept it fairly docile, if a bit lazy.
[I]Cam supports the general six-member party guideline, as it assures that each Pokemon can get the attention they deserve. He hasn't really decided what else to add to his party yet, but he's had his eye on the Sneasel population in the Ice Path.[/I][/SIZE][/FONT]

Each character's primary (and almost certainly other) Pokémon should be restricted to the continental region (i.e. Johto and Kanto) given the current political situation and other logistics which would be rather tedious to get into at present. [strike]This means that so far, Buziel, Milotic, and Grotle will need to be replaced.[/strike]

There may be third-generation Pokémon appearing from time to time for purposes of the story—in the interests of openness I will go ahead and say that my character, who left on a trip for Hoenn some time before the current tensions arose and has just recently returned, will have one or more from that region—but other than that, I ask that the later generations be avoided.

[B]Appearance:[/B] Suneora's a little on the short side, at just under five feet tall. Her raven hair cascades down to below her shoulders in loose curls, her face resembling a blushing pearl underneath. her eyes the colour of emerald. Her clothes are light and flowy to complement her curvy figure and to make traveling a bit more comfortable. The green shirt she usually wears has a tie in the back and sleeves that go down to her elbows; her skirt shows colours of white and rose. On her feet are pair of beige-coloured boots, and she carries a large maroon shoulder bag for holding all her possessions.

[B]Bio:[/B] Suneora's past is rather interesting: she comes from another planet! (But don't worry, she's still human.) I could go into much detail about the planet of Orenya, but the main things to keep in mind are that there the sun never moves across the sky, and many magicians and wizards dwell there. Unfortunately, Suneora was neither, which dimmed her chances of belonging to a society dedicated to protecting the peace of the planet. However, that all changed on Suneora's twentieth birthday, when she suddenly found herself in Johto by way of a mysterious portal.

The first place Suneora came across was the Dragon's Den, where she saw Claire training with her Dragonair. However, at the time, Suneora knew nothing about Pokemon, and her English was still quite poor. To make a long story short, Claire spotted her and greeted her, and eventually coaxed Suneora into telling her where she was from. Claire didn't completely believe her, but at least she didn't laugh at her, and even let her watch one of her gym battles. After that, Claire had a meeting with the visiting Professor Oak, who Suneora later talked to and learned all about Pokemon. The Professor even gate her her first Pokemon after all was done.

When Suneora left on her Pokemon journey, Claire told her to come back to Blackthorn when she got stronger as a trainer. But she did get to do a lot of traveling, and training... but there was also bad news. News of a League formed by some of the gym leaders broke out, and war started. So when Suneora returned to Blackthorn two years later, instead of facing a friendly battle with Claire, she faced a summoning of military forces, for Claire was leading an army to fight this league. However, Claire did tell her about what the League was up to, and recruited her when she expressed her opinions on how evil this league sounded.

[B]Personality:[/B] Wisdom is Suneora's strongest suit. She's one of the most respectful people anyone will ever meet, and is careful to act out of good judgment. However, she's still naive about some things, and because she lived in a totally different culture for twenty years, her views of the world are a bit different. And although she's excellent at being amiable and courteus to people, she's terrible with computers and other technology. This even includes a Pokedex and Pokeballs, which she usually doesn't believe in using.

She is Suneora's main battler and also a good means of transportation, and special in Suneora's eyes because she reminds her of a pet dragon the Ferenachi family had.

Name: Aesera Alkalero

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Appearance: [COLOR=black]Aesera is a rather tall woman, standing at well over 6 feet in height. She's pretty good-looking, but not someone who would usually be described as beautiful, as she keeps herself in good physical shape and many people's idea of 'beautiful' would be unhealthy. Aesera is in very good shape and looks like it. She has a couple small scars on her arms and one large one on her upper left leg that's usually under her clothing.[/COLOR]

Allegiance: League

Status: Recruit. Recruited by Falkner.

Bio: Aesera is not a native of Johto or Kanto; she was born in Lilycove City in Hoenn, the youngest of three children. Aesera was interested in becoming a trainer in large part because of her sister, Katrina, who was a trainer, and one of the best. Aesera wasn't trying to follow in her footsteps; it was simply that Katrina was responsible for introducing her to the idea.

Aesera got her start as a trainer in Kanto; her brother knew Professor Oak, and was able to get him to provide Aesera with her first Pokemon. She traveled around the various regions for quite some time, and became a very skilled trainer, although not at her sister's level. She was especially good at the strategic end, thanks to her often unorthodox strategic style.

In her travels, Aesera became interested in the myths and stories surrounding the various so-called 'legendary Pokemon'. Everyone has personal interests; that became one of hers. As a result, she knows quite a bit about the legends. She learned as much about them as she could during her travels.

Eventually, Aesera decided to take a break from her life as a trainer, and settled in Johto's Violet City, a place she'd found she liked on visits there durring her travels. She took a position at Violet's Trainer's School, helping teach new trainers the basics. She did stills engage in trainer activities herself sometimes; in particular, she was more than willing to battle with anyone who wanted to.

When tensions between the League and its opponents began to mount, Aesera was recruited into the League forces by Violet's Gym Leader, Falkner. She assumes that Falkner did so because of her reputation for creative and effective battle strategies. It certainly wasn't because of any familiarity with her; the only time she'd met Falkner previously was when she challenged the Violet City Gym for its badge. But regardless of the reason, it happened, and now Aesera is preparing for whatever the war may bring.

Personality: Aesera is, first and formost, a pragmatist. It's why she supports the League, despite personal objections to some of their policies; a strong government is, she believes, a necessity, and flawed as the League may be, it is, in her mind, preferable to any of the other currently available options.

Aesera's strongest point of dissagreement with the League is on the treatment of Pokemon. Many in the League see Pokemon as tools, a position Aesera makes no secret of her contempt for (although she's still fairly certain that Falkner didn't know about that when she was recruited). She hates how common this attitude seems to be in the League, and does everything she can to instill an attitude of compassion towards Pokemon in others. She knows this attitude is not exactly favored within the League, but that's not enough to stop her; she's not someone who gives up on anything easily, especially when it's an issue that's important to her.

Primary Pokemon: Espeon, Tyranitar, and Rhydon are the heavy hitters of Aesera's team. She also has a Pigeot which, although not quite as tough, is no slouch in battle. The newest additions to her six-member team (a standard she wholehartedly agrees with) are Sneasel and Flaffy.

Saul joined the Viridian gym shortly after Red drove Giovanni from it and spent several years as a respected subordinate of Blue. He has been retired for some time now, and currently supports himself as a field journalist for several distinguished Pokémon publications.

[B]Personality:[/B] Perceptive and personable, with a reserved wit. Saul makes friends fast and earns respect easily with his sound and balanced assessments of situations. He also relies significantly on input from his Pokémon; two and three sets of eyes are better than one, to his mind.

[B]Bio:[/B] Haru and his family moved from Goldenrod City to Viridian City about ten years ago.

Haru began his League challenge when he turned 15. However, although he managed to defeat all eight Gym Leaders, he was easily bested by the Elite Four. Haru then decided to devote his time to training, going back and forth between the Kanto and Johto regions for about six months. Eventually, he decided it was time to take on the Elite Four again, after a year's worth of training, but it was around this time that the Champion disappeared and the League began to take over. Haru went home for about a month, then set out to go against the League- he could not stand for what they were doing. His new journey did not take him far though- as soon as he arrived in Pewter City, he was approached by Flint. Flint had been quite impressed by Haru's skills and saw that he had much potential they first met, and thus, seeing him as a valuable assets, immediately recruited Haru as a Protester.

It is in the Dragon's Den where she spent the majority of her life, and while she was treated well, she had very limited access to the outside world. As such, her knowledge of the state of the world, as well as particular customs, is minimal at best. But after being recruited by Claire, she has begun to traverse Johto in an attempt to become more familiar with the world as it is. She is currently residing in Goldenrod City.

[B]Bio:[/B] Born on Cianwood Island, Kyle was weak in comparison to the other kids. At age 10, his life was impacted by two very critical events in his life. His sister met a boy and moved with him to Goldenrod City. A few months after, his father was sailing in a private fishing boat and was attacked by what was declared a pod of Gyarados’. Then, at age 13, Kyle moved in with his sister due to financial problems at home. His brother-in-law would play Kyle’s role-model for the next few years, teaching him about the world in a way that was outside of an island that got most of it’s traffic from the Gym. It was also during this time that he was shown a picture of two women that he would recognize for the rest of his life. In a list of Gym leaders from across the world, there were two women the caught his eye: The Cerulean City Gym Leader Misty, and the Lavaridge Town Leader Flannery. He had become totally infatuated with these women that he had never met before. He returned home to Cianwood after two more years, where his mother greeted him with a new friend. She had bought a pokemon for him to play with. Then, when he was became 17, he started a journey to explore the world. He started in Olivine City and traveled down towards his sisters home. He only spent a few months on this journey and then returned home to take care of his sickly mother. Now, he tends to go about town and help out those who need it, with his duties to his family taking main priority, and his job for Chuck second.

[B]Personality:[/B] Kyle has always been a bit of a joker. Never taking a scenario too seriously. The only things he takes seriously is work, battle, and Gyarados. He has an utter hatred for the pokemon and is currently trying to find a pokemon to help battle them. Aside from all this, he likes to eat, sleep, play video games, and just hang out when he’s not busy.

[B]Primary Pokemon:[/B] - [U]Hitmonlee[/U]. His first pokemon. His mother bought it for him as a playmate, but since then, it has become his best friend. It shares the same personality traits with him and the two have a bond that is almost psychic.
-[U]Pinsir[/U]. This was the first pokemon Kyle caught. He acquire it in the Bug Catching Contest in the National Park. At first, it really didn’t listen to any commands, but after Kyle actually challenged it to a fist fight, he started to gain it’s trust.
-[U]Steelix[/U]. Was once his sister’s Onix she had as a teenager, traded with a Metal Coat her husband had for a Magikarp. It really liked Kyle when it was an Onix, but now it just disobeys him for the kicks. Thankfully, it’s aggressive nature matches Kyle’s command style for him.[/SIZE]

As a child, his father was often absent for reasons never explained, so he found a role model elsewhere: A man he refers to as ?Uncle Edmund.?
Edmund was kind enough, though his own view of the world had been warped by his past. He desired a world where everything was done for the good of the masses; he strove for a greater happiness for all through whatever means attainable, and Edmund never spared Harley the details, no matter his age or level of understanding.
Harley hurriedly adopted the man?s skewed ethics, and has continued to support the cause through a route he discovered shortly after turning twenty three: Being a mercenary paid good money, and feeling that his duty lay with those of The League was a bonus. Harley felt falling into the gig was his destiny, and he is following the path he sees before him methodically. The League would be the ones to change the world, shift it in the right direction, and Harley stood tall knowing he would be assisting.

[B]Personality:[/B] Harley is introspective to a nearly crippling degree. He analyzes most everything to its extreme, and his actions reflect the often naïve workings of his mind.
Though he seeks a path to a better world, the means to him are irrelevant; only the end qualifies as important. Living by this rule, his actions are often cruel. Moreover, his social ineptitude removes him from the masses he so desperately feels the need to save. For all that he claims, Harley is out of touch with reality.

She got a job as an accountant with a small but far-reaching company based out of Mahogany Town that makes and sells specialized and custom pokeballs. For her job, she has to do a lot of traveling, and took up pokemon training originally to protect herself on the road. Since she lives and often travels alone, she ended up developing a close bond with her team. Morty recruited her while she was on a business trip in Ecruteak, mostly to manage the protesters' funds, but she will battle if she has to. She respects the League's desire to see order in the world, but thinks they're being really extremist about it, and could never accept the way they treat pokemon. She resides in Mahogany Town and is usually there, but she travels quite a bit.
