Gavin
From the Affable, to the Card-Carrying, to the Omnicidal there are always villains out there that we can't help but secretly (and not so secretly) root for as they go about their dastardly deeds. Whether it's down to the way their latest Xanatos Gambit leaves you in awe of their strategic acumen, or their combat prowess at having left the hero without a leg to stand on, or even just the way they've developed as characters there's always something about them that draws out our support when really we should be cheering for the protagonist. So, which villains make you smile when they waltz back onto the screen ? And more importantly, why ? Seeing as it's hardly fair for me to ask people a question without giving an opinion of my own first I'm going to nominated Gundam 00's Ali Al-Saachez. An admitted utter monster with no regard for the lives of his fellow human beings, nor regret for the lives he's destroyed in the past Ali lives first and foremost to fight and cause as much mayhem as possible because, simply put, it's fun for him. So why do I cheer for Ali when he shows up, especially when
he killed my favourite character Lockon Stratos
? Because he's so unrepentantly badass in everything he does, he exudes charisma and in a series with far too many characters with sticks up their ***** (at least in series one) Ali is just in it for the lulz and the cash. Then of course there was this vid which just cemented my loyalty to the Cult of Ali. Shinmaru
Definitely Dilandau from Vision of Escaflowne. He spreads mayhem and destruction wherever he goes, is batcrap insane, is horribly vain (his scream of "MY FACE!!!!!!!!!11!!1!! MY BEAUTIFUL FACE!!!!!11!1!11!!" when Van scars him is magnificent), treats his subordinates like garbage and has one of the best evil laughs ever. Despite being a thoroughly terrible person who fights simply because he loves making people miserable and mocking his opponents, Dilandau is totally lovable because he is so good at what he does. It helps that Minami Takayama has such a hawt evil voice. How could you not love a face like that? I am unashamed to have had a total man crush on him from his first appearance in the series. Nony
I suppose this is heavily influenced by nostalgia, but I must say I always liked Team Rocket from Pokemon. I remember as a kid I always liked seeing them on-screen and having episodes that centered around them. Of course they're not very competent villains at all (except for, like, the first two episodes), but they are (or were) entertaining. Heck, I just love a silly character, so maybe it's as simple as that. Also, I doubt I'll ever forget that cheesy but lovable motto of theirs. And no, I won't torture you right now by reciting it. Instead, I'll link ya! 8D Well... at least, that was the closest I could find. .3. Dio is the ultimate villain. First of all he NEVER DIES EVER, he'll steal the body of your dead grandpa JUST BECAUSE HE CAN. When he does eventually die don't expect to never see him again because he will still find some way to destroy your life even from the afterlife, or just come back as a raptor and kill everyone. Also he killed the main character's dog just mess with his mind, seriously what kind of dick kills a dog for fun? Dio does because he's that awesome. Dagger
I started watching Canaan solely because I liked Alphard's psychotic grin in the opening sequence. Her slight ambiguity as a character--is she moderately evil or really, really evil?--is seasoned by a healthy dose of unflappable coolness, mad combat skillz, and Just As Planned charisma. Too bad no one else in the show is nearly as fascinating. ~Dagger~

Canaan is kinda dumb, and I have disliked Maria for a good while now. At least Alphard has that The Boss thing going for her. Her ambiguity kind of rubbed me the wrong way at first, but as the series has gone on, she has grown on me a lot more. Anyway, uh, sort of along the same lines as Dilandau, I like Ladd Russo from Baccano! The main draw with him is just that he is so gleeful about doing what he does best -- killing people. He is always so loud and boisterous when murdering someone. Totally horrible, reprehensible guy -- even among the killers and thieves of the Baccano! cast -- and yet I get a big grin on my face from watching him do his work. Russo just loves his work so much. Don't you wish you could be that happy going to the office every day?

KojiroJames2K9
Miss Anonymous is a girl after my own <3! I like Team Rocket. As a matter of fact, at NYAF, I debuted my new Jessie Outfit in a crossplay! I also play James - how ironic, my own name! - but my pics from VGXpo won't be available until next month! Rachmaninoff
I would have to say Johan from Monster. Yes he's creepy as hell and yes he's the type of person you'd never, ever want to meet. But at the same time it's utterly fascinating to see a villain in a series who truly is evil. Octopus Royalty
Vicious from Bebop. Katana, hair, attitude, the whole shebang. He's always been my fav. Also, a lot of the Dragonball villains were pretty hilarious. The Ginyu force and their silly dance. Majin Buu turning people into candy. Etc. AnbuKira13
Vicious from Cowboy Bebop... I realize he wasn't always around on every episode or whatever but he still fit for the psychotic. Light Yagami from Death Note. Why? Mainly because of how smart he is. Also you get to watch him basically slowly decend into complete madness, a point more made with his final speech and crazy laugh. (Somewhat of a love hate with this guy.) Zabuza Momochi from Naruto. He gets a lot of flack now days for not being as "cool" as the Akatsuki or whatever but when you think about it a guy with two broken arms close to death himself slaughtering a group of men and their leader with nothing but a kunai in his mouth... Nothing to scoff at. Vegeta, mainly because even after he joined the good side of things he was still an ***. ^_^ Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, he's like the Arrancar version of Kenpachi. As far as humorous baddies go... I can agree with Team Rocket and Majin Buu.

Dezakore
My favorite villains would be: Light Yagami from Death Note because throughout the whole series I was on his side rooting for him, even when
L died. I was outraged that he died so early but at the same time happy that light finally got rid of the one obstacle in his way.
Ulquiorra From Bleach For some strange reason I've been attached to him from the moment he made his debut why, I have no idea. I have added spoiler tags to your post, Dezakore. rotlung
I'm totally blanking out on his name but the guy from Naruto that Shikamaru killed (or imprisoned w/e) with the big scythe. visualkei
Anotsu Kagehisa (Blade of the Immortal) He's just plain likeable, just wants to be strong, but lets his subordinates offend everybody in the process. Sesshoumaru (Inu-Yasha) Did I spell his name right? He isn't necessarily a bad guy, but definitely an obstacle. Always keeps his cool, and I like how he sneers and bullies his younger brother. Totally justifiable. =P Light Yagami (Death Note) I almost forgot how much I liked this guy until I looked through this thread. I rooted for him because he had really pure intentions to do good, but in the "wrong" way..... Kind of like Batman. pattypv4

zer0requiem
Ok, i have a long list :l Izaya Orihara from Durarara!!. He is so weird, and funny, and easy-going. He loves humanity xD who else loves humanity? GOD. what does that mean? Izaya is not a human anymore... Light Yagami from Death Note. His goal is to create a better world, no matter if you kill lotsa people to reach it >D He's... just... the perfect "i'm not a villian" villian. Vincent Nightray from Pandora Hearts. Brother Fetish FTW <3 kills plushies, he's so evil. All akatsuki, including Orochimaru. Aaand Suigetsu and Sasuke (lol yesss, im a narutard.) Idk, they've always been so different and cool from the others. All the members of the Noah's Family. In special Jasdebi, Road and Tykki. They're awesome, with strange abilities, and different ways of thinking, and their personalities. Hao Asakura >D Oh dear lord, he's the always-dreamed-evil-twin. His voice is girly XD I love him. Ok i'll stop now. I have to admit it. I loooove bad boys, lol.
Magus
I'll echo Akatsuki from Naruto here. Outside of probably Deidara and Hidan (they're more the comical folk in the group to me), the whole group just has that bad### pressence that I look for in my characters. It's too bad that no one else in this series matches up to them in terms of coolness though. Ulquiorra and Aizen from Bleach deserves a mention as well. Aizen because he's superman and batman together, and Ulquiorra because he's the villain version of Byakuya. Legato from Trigun. I don't think I even need to say more, but if I have to say anything, I'd say just watch the episode where he's first introduced. He was bad amoung bad guys.
I do believe you are thinking of Hidan. ~~~ As for myself, I don't really watch a lot of anime, however... Afro Samurai's "Kuma" Jinnosuke is the only one I can think of at the moment, just for the sheer novelty of a dual-sword-wielding bear of DOOM. He's also got some serious skills and, when he comes on, I know Afro's got a serious fight on his hands. Good stuff. ~~~ The following didn't make the cut due to technicalities :< The Dark Adonis, from Disgaea, makes an entrance here (although more in the game than in the anime). Always been a fan of him and his underappreciated ways make me chuckle. A shame I don't like his anime counterpart. I also have a certain fondness from Marik from Yu-Gi-Oh. Not for anything he's done as a character, himself, but that it's thanks to him that this video came about. I can't help but smile (thinking of the video!) if I ever see him appear. Can't take 'im seriously at all anymore. Fear the tongue! 8D
