Okay. I've decided to postpone getting my last gym badge. That girl and her pokemon are a frickin' pain in the rear and I'm busy hunting down Raikou and Entei. Rawr.
Ice-type is murderous against everything she has (except Kingdra. You have an Ampharos or something else electric, right?). There are Shellder in Olivine if you feel like fishing, and Ice Path has Jynx and Swinub, too. Personally, I recommend the Shellder. Also, you should go ahead and keep whatever one you choose in your party. You're gonna need it for the Elite 4.

I think I'm gonna go after that Snorlax in a bit. I just got the Kanto radio expansion, now I just need Kurt to make me some Heavy Balls. I just hope it doesn't use Rest too much. Ugh, what an annoying move.

Also, I'm thinking of leveling up my Scyther and using it as my Capture Specialist. It knows False Swipe already, now it just needs to be able to survive Legendary encounters.

I've got my Swinub (Snuffles) sitting in the Day-Care as we speak. And my Ampharos is beautiful, he is!

I am very happy, for I have HeartGold now. x3
And I've had the chance to play it for a little over four hours now. I gotta say, I'm having way too much fun naming all these little critters. I've never actually done that in the past, nicknamed every single Pokemon I caught. It's been silly good fun. I can make tons of geeky references within a single game! 8D *pie'd*

I CAUGHT HO-OH AND IT FOLLOWS ME AROUND NOW AND IT'S THE MOST AWESOME THING EVER. And I didn't have to leave the tower after all!

Gonna take on the Elite Four later today, finally.

I'm going to attempt the Elite [STRIKE]Five[/STRIKE] Four today, assuming I can get through Victory Road. And even then, I have a feeling the Elite Four will destroy me :x

And after wasting many Ultra Balls, Great Balls, Poke Balls, and a few Love Balls and Friend Balls I just so happened to have, I ended up using my Master Ball on Lugia. It didn't matter how many times I tried or how low I got it's HP, Lugia simply refuse to stay in anything else I threw at it. But I still have my Master Ball on Platinum, so no real loss.

As for the Ice Pokemon thing, Lapras is an amazing thing to have when dealing with Clair. In fact, Lapras is amazing period and I highly recommend using it...assuming you want to wait until Friday to catch one if you haven't already >>;

For an Ice type, I'm planning on using Swinub/Piloswine/Mamoswine. It's not the best in its lower evolutions, but it's nostalgic for me so who cares. :x It'll be enough to take care of any Dragon types, anyway.

You'll at least smirk when I tell you this: I spent about 2 hours tonight talking with friends via Plurk coming up with Pokemon for all the .hack characters. My personal favorites:

- Tri-Edge the Dodrio
- Piros the Bidoof
- Balmung the Altaria
- BT the Wobuffet
- Gaspard the Miltank
- Kuhn the Ditto
- Silver Knight the Magikarp
- Sora the Psyduck
- Rachel the Meowth

In other news, Ho-Oh is a bastard. Stay in your damn ultra ball B(

Dusk Balls. I'm telling you people, Dusk Balls. Wait until 8 and they become twice as powerful as Ultras. They sell 'em in Blackthorn and several other places. Just talk to the Pokémart guy furthest from the door.

I just got to Pewter City and found the guy who gives you the Rainbow Wing. I'll probably wait to go after Ho-Oh until I've beaten Red, though. I get the feeling I'll need to get my Scyther in shape for that one.

I had more trouble with Whitney than any other gym leader. I remember she was a total ***** to beat in the original games because of Rollout, so I was all prepared to deal with that. Then the real problem became Milk Drink. It took me three attempts to get that badge.

I had to knock Ho-Oh out, I didn't have any other choice. I couldn't put it to sleep again and it had a little more than 1 HP left so any further attack would take it down, and it wouldn't stay in a ball. I think the Kimono girls are mad at me for it.

I'm supposed to be leveling up my team so I can take on the Elite Four. It's just too tedious. Is there a pretty good place to train, other than Victory Road? The Pokemon I need to focus on don't do very well against rock/ground/Golbat.

Here's what I've got:

Felsen, lv 33 Graveler (need to catch Donphan or Rhyhorn)
Virgil, lv 35 Growlithe
Ezio, lv 36 Pidgeot
Adagio, lv 37 Slowpoke
Ampere, lv 39 Ampharos
Rio, lv 40 Feraligatr

Other than Victory Road, there's some Doduo and Ponyta on the route before it. They don't give quite as much EXP, though. You can also rematch anyone who's called you for a battle so far.

Also, You are awesome for being the first person I know of to actually choose Totodile. The only reason I didn't is because I already have a Feraligatr on Pearl.

I wouldn't have it any other way. I feel grass pokemon are fairly useless, and the whole reason I chose HeartGold was that Growlithe's in it. Besides, I don't really have a favorite water pokemon in that generation.
grass pokemon are not useless! one of the most used attacks is earthquake and grass can take em no problem.
i love my tangrowth.
Grass pokemon have no exclusive strengths, though. I prefer to take down water types with electric pokemon, ground and rock with water and fighting. Plus they have a lot more weaknesses than every other type (except for bug, which is almost as useless except that it's good against dark pokemon).

I'd much rather have a grass move than a grass type. My Gardevoir in Platinum knows Magical Leaf and that's all I need.

Also, Earthquake will never hit a flying type, and those are strong against grass.

flying pokemon that are non legendary have almost no defense other than special defence, so an earthquake oriented pokemon could probably kill any bird just by using a different type move. grass pokemon are well rounded defense wise usually and some have high special attack for solar beam. I love tag battles with a fire grass start.
have one use sunny day then my grass pokemon (a lot of them have a special ability that works with sunny day active too) and use a same type solar beam to iinsta-KO most pokemon that a grass attack isnt weak against.

its only problem is the amount of things resistant to it, however most grass pokemon have the ability to learn moves that can poison, paralyze, or put pokemon to sleep. when i run into a bad type i just toxic or paralyze and switch.

and if we are talking about bad types, how about normal? 4 resistant types with no super effective? it has weaknesses but no strengths!

That is awesome, and some of those suggestions were hilarious; Tri-edge the Dodrio and Kuhn the Ditto. lol
I actually named my main squad on Platinum after six of the eight Phases. That was real fun and nerdy. I need to start naming more of my Pokepeeps in HG after .hack stuff...
Dusk Balls. I'm telling you people, Dusk Balls.
Hell yes. Dusk Balls are awesome. I can't wait until I can start buying them.

I've never used a purely normal pokemon. However I actually had to beat Morty with Pidgeotto (normal/flying) because ghost attacks don't affect it. That's pretty helpful.

if you look at just stats though it has waaaay more problems than benifits. however my favorite non-legendary pokemon is a normal type. and one thing normal does have is strong attacks. nothing looks pretty after a hyperbeam from my porygon-Z
with adaptability as its special ability, plus its normal type advantage the 150 becomes a 300. thats the same damage as an explosion attack to put it in perspective.

and as for bugs, theres the pokemon with wonderguard... and moves like U-turn... plus a butterfree with compound eyes will never miss with sleep powder.

i think the worse the type the better the special abilities are.

Chansey and Blissey are really tanks when it comes to versus battles, because a Blissey that can manage to Stockpile then Baton Pass makes your team pretty much invincible, even with mismatched types. But I'd only view Chansey as a support type Pokemon more than anything.

Let's just say there's a reason the competitive crowd affectionately refers to Blissey as "Fat Pink Whore".

Anyway, I think I should point out that despite the fact that Normal Types have four resistant types and no vulnerable ones, they kind of make up for it by the fact that they only have one weakness and are the only thing impervious to Ghost Type moves. Besides, teach something Screech and Return and taking Same Type Attack Bonus into account, you can just as good as ignore the rock paper scissors thing.

That and they can, you know, learn other types of moves besides just Normal.

Koga. WTF. His strategy is the most infuriating thing I've experienced since Whitney. It's going to take me hours upon hours of training to get all my pokemon up to a decent level, and I don't have any money left after losing to him to buy the necessary health items.

I think my character is going to give up pokemon and pick up a nice meth addiction.
