James P. Galvatron
Hmm trainers are older I guess that could allow more development in the plot. I dont see what all the Chimchar hate is about cause he becomes Infernape one of the best Starter Sweepers of All Time next to Steel Wall Empoleon. Turtwig was the one I had a problem with looked a bit like a bulbasaur with downs.
Nony
the Water Starter as Edokun.
lolol I wonder why? ;) Anyway, yaaaay we get to see the actual starters and not just the silhouettes! And big surprise, they're Grass, Fire, and Water types. I'm echoing earlier statements in that I'd like to see their evolution line next. I mean, based off their first forms, I'd probably go with the Grass (besides the fact that I always choose the Grass starter). I am loooovin' the trainer designs too. I mean, the girl's short shorts are... well, short. Oh well, she has boss hair, so I don't mind. And I liked Chimchar. Its final evolution, Infernape, is a freakin' awesome Pokemon. The Spectacular Professor
Infernape committed two horrific sins that prevent me from liking it. The first one was basically BEING BLAZIKEN. We had this exact Pokémon one generation ago. The only difference is it looked cooler. The second one was being a monkey, which was fine for Aipom, but with Infernape it turned it into the epitome of gimmicks. It's a monkey that's on fire. The only thing missing is it being a ninja. Also, it has a tail, so its name is completely inaccurate, but that's just nitpicking. I have no real opinion about Empoleon, but its typing is pretty cool. Torterra was an awesome ankylosaurus with a continent on its back. doesn't get much cooler than that.
Katie!
Names are confirmed: # Tsutaaja (ツタージャ) is the Grass Snake Pokemon, its ability is Overgrow, it is 0.6 m (2 ft) tall, and it weighs 8.1 kg (17.9 lbs). "Tsuta" means "ivy" and "ja" is one way of saying the word "snake." # Pokabu (ポカブ) is the Fire Pig Pokemon, its ability is Blaze, it stands 0.6 m (2 ft) tall, and it weighs 9.9 kg (21.9 lbs). The name derives from "pokapoka," which means "warm" in Japanese, and "bu," the sound a pig makes in Japanese culture (here it's "oink"). # Mijumaru (ミジュマル) is the Sea Otter Pokemon, its ability is Torrent, it is 0.5 m (1.6 ft) tall, and it weighs 5.9 kg (13 lbs). "Mijuku" means "immature" and "maru" means "round" or "ball." Here are some more close up screenshots: In the last one, we can see Zoroark's Illusion ability. I just don't need them. Hopefully the new grass starter will have a cool final evolution, unlike RBY and RSE. Bulbasaur is a total badass and Ivysaur is pretty cool too, but Venusaur is like a fat grandpa who doesn't give you money when you visit him. And I really hate the Treecko family. I think the one time I decided to start with it I had to give up on training it shortly after it evolved into Grovyle because it was just utterly useless.
chibi-master
Infernape was okay, but not great. Blaziken just made me feel better that it was no longer that crappy looking Combusken. I hope to see the further evolutions of the fire pig.:animesmil I think I'll end up naming it Botan...

James P. Galvatron
Blaziken is a horrible pokemon an EV Trained Infernape will kill anything not Water or Psychic Type. Especially an Adamant Infernape because Blaziken is to slow and nowhere near as strong even with good IV's and EV's. Teach an Infernape that is adamant Fire Blitz, Close Combat/Focus Blast, Stone Edge/U-Turn, Flamethrower/Mach Punch/ Thunder Punch. Torterra is a busted Venasaur never will be as good its a settling pokemon Bulbasaur is the only good grass starter. Trecko is the worst completely useless for battling and tournaments due to his weak attack and sucky move list. I mean what Grass type cant use vine whip or razor leaf and do good damage. Like I said though me and that Pig future pokemon Champions best of the starters I mean he is a freaking Pig ON FIRE he poops and breathes excellence. James P. Galvatron
bitter about what lol just saying I've played other people and Blaziken gets trumped by Infernape cause he's so evil especially with Focus Sash, but if you survive his first 2 attacks he's good as dead cause he has amazing attack and no defense. The pig is godly though and you know it just look at him, and now that I see how fabulous the grass type is I may trade for him.
Lawliet
Here is my two cents on the starters. Generation 1 was amazing, all of them are awesome, and I'd be happy with anyone of them, though I don't like Venasaur as much as the final forms of the other two, which gives Bulbasaur -2 cool points. In Gen 2 they were all awesome again and I was glade that Totodile was similar to Charmander cause I really liked him from the first batch. Gen 3 was kinda a let down imo. I didn't like Treeko at all and I felt like Torchic and its family belonged in a deep fryer, not my party. I liked Mudkip the best, but it just wasn't as cool as the last two water starters. Generation 4 starters were all crap, Piplup gets points for having good typing, but thats it ( I know that the fire one is actually a good pokemon, but I don't like it still). Now generation 5 is here, and its the first time I favor a starter that isn't the water one! The rabbit and otter look lame but the grass starter is a pimp... alas, I am hoping really hard that the otter has fancy typing or really awesome evolutions, cause I don't want to wreck my water streak! Nony
That's what I was thinking too. lol I mean, it'll be cool but it'll probably take some getting used to at first. Katie!
screaming forever also, Zekrom, the black one, could potentially be Dragon/Electric, a rumor sparked by the host of Pokemon Sunday's blog, where she stated "I want Zekrom because Electric-types are cool!" although the tidbit was since removed. Zoroark is likely to keep his name in the English versions.
