CaNz
some songs speak to you in higher volumes than your mp3 player can reach. This topic is just a copy/paste discuss thread. post some lyrics then say wy you like them. (please dont post media. this really is just gonna be picking the best lines of the song, not the whole thing. lyric posts should be a full chorus tops.) I kinda like one liners so i will share a few. Gin Blossoms: Alison Road. "So she fills up her sails... with my wasted breath" very creative way of saying everything you said was useless. i do love metaphors. Counting Crows: A long December. "The smell of hospitals in winter, and the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters but no pearls" Metaphors again, though this one just sad... so it fits Counting Crows perfectly. No Doubt: Don't Speak. "You and me..... I can see us dying ... are we?" not all great lyrics are super creative, this one is just a ridiculously powerful line. you can hear the pain in that question. im eager to read your the lyrics you like! Vicky
"Such is the nature of the searcher, When you've had it up to here, and you don't wish to hurt'ya And I've got a big list of blame, And I will call out names, And I will fuel the shame that may Set upon society shows for generations to come, Comfortably numb from the barrel of the gun Before we have to break this world, Before we have to shake this world, What will it take to wake this world, And hear the silent sigh, the silent cry (Alone, alone, alone, not alone at all) If you've got no kind words to say, you should say nothing more at all." The Maccabees feat. Roots Manuva. Would recommend people watch the video. Very good. And: "In restless dreams I walked along Narrow streets of cobblestone Beneath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collor to the cold and damp Where my eyes were stabbed By the flash of the neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence." Oh, and of course, one of my favourite lines of the century: "Let's have some fun this beat is sick, I wanna take a ride on your disco stick." *goes off to get back to work instead of skivving*
Humaru
"Life is like a Boat" by Rie Fu Nobody knows who I really am, Ive never felt so empty before And if I ever need someone to come along, Whose gonna comfort me and keep me strong. These line describes the basic aspect in life called depression and offers a clear solution. Instead of slitting the wrist or throwing back the bottle and eating pills like M&Ms....you can just find someone(a friend) to help you through it. "Minority" by Green Day I want to be the minority I don't need your authority Down with the moral majority Cause I wanna be the minority Yeah...rebellion is the highest form(through music) "Hate It or Love It" The Game ft 50 cent Go 'head envy me Im rap's MVP And I aint going nowhere so you can get to know me Man this was the start of The Game taking over the game. He went on to be one of the most popular rappers after this album dropped but sadly has disappeared from the public eye for some time now. "Spaceship" Kanye West Man.man, man if my manager insults me again I will be assaulting him After I f@$# the manager up Then Ima shorten the register up Lets go back, back to the Gap Look at my check, wasnt no scratch So if I stole, wasnt my fault Yeah I stole, never got caught Anybody who has ever worked a job at the mall in a clothing store or a shoe store, these words sound very familiar to your inner personality. "Touch the Sky" Kanye West ft Lupe Fiasco Yes yes yes guess whose on third Lupe still like Lupin the 3rd Here life here 'til Im beer on the curb Peach fuzz buzz but beard on the verge I like this line simply because of the mention of one of my favorite anime in it.(Lupin the 3rd)
Raiha
Dead Poetic, Modern Morbid Prophecies "And do you want this. And do you still need this. Like modern morbid prophecies fulfilled. Like biting on these bitter tasting pills. And we're just heroes, And we're just heroes. They all won't love me, she won't let me forget." Everything But The Girl, Five Fathoms "The only way out is down The only way up is down The days roll by like thunder like a storm that's never breaking All my time and space compressed in the low pressure of the proceedings And they beat against the sides of my life, like fists against the sides of my life, And the roads all lead behind me So I wrap the wheel around me and I go out" _____________ Often for me it is the method by which the words are sung to a particular melody, so if they'd simply been screamed I wouldn't have felt anything, but usually the haunting, lilting sound slowed down while the beat continues faster in the background presses my ear the right way. When you stand they fall" that entire song feels like a buildup, and this part builds up to the last chorus. Step off, stand back. Cause it's a fact I've got to match, And all my fingers crossed behind my back. Give me some breathing room. Cause I'm breathing fumes I'll light the fuse. Give me some breathing room. Cause there's something that I need to prove. Give me some breathing room. Cause I'm breathing fumes I'll light the fuse, And I'm gonna make the evening news. Well I'm busy making plans, With a flare gun in my hand. Kerosene soaked through my pants, The last words of my last stand. Step up, step back. Cause it's a fact I've gotta match, And all my fingers crossed behind my back. Give me some breathing room. Cause I'm breathing fumes I'll light the fuse. Give me some breathing room. Cause there's something that I need to prove. Give me some breathing room. Cause I'm breathing fumes I'll light the fuse, And I'm gonna make the evening news. And I'm gonna make the evening news. Give me some breathing room. Cause I'm breathing fumes I'll light the fuse. Give me some breathing room. Cause there's something that I need to prove. Give me some breathing room. Cause I'm breathing fumes I'll light the fuse, Give me some breathing room. I'm on fire it's all ending soon, And I'm gonna make the evening news. Yea I'm gonna make the evening news. CaNz
I cant even begin to tell you guys how much i love this band. I have known about them for two wweeks now and they have already climbed into my top ten favorites. Letters to Cleo: Awake I wish we had a laugh... but you're just not funny Baby, I'm leaving out the... irony this line is just so clever, and when you hear it you wish you could have said it a hundred times before. Disappear What would you do for me my sweet cherubic baby? i just like cherubic as an adjective. the way Kay Hanley sings this part just sounds so playful, then she proceeds to bash the guy through the rest of the song. Pizza Cutter I was on you side and I can't believe that it's coming back to haunt me. You were on that side too and I can't, no I can't go back and save you. Why didn't you do as you were told? Why didn't you just go home? And what you got in the bag? This song might be considered a little odd.. but when lyrics like this matter is when your not really in the right frame of mind anyway. I would add the entire song of you dirty rat here too... but i think i made my point clear... great band for break-ups!
