Rayne looked down from his perch, his black wings looking to play the part of a sheild from the terrors and heartaches of the world. His red eyes let crimson tears flow, he did not like the task before him. But, it was what he had to do. He and the others who walked his path. The rain fell around him, and lightning crashed in the distance.

Before him, he could see a playground. In the sandbox, there were dark figures lying broken. Another flash showed them to be half buried people, horribly beaten to death. The children's version of 'playing.' On the slide, played a young child. On the swings, played another child. On the jungle gym, played yet another child. Three children, playing in the park in a thunderstorm at two in the afternoon. They were wet, though they just seemed to want to keep playing, and playing with one another.

Sighing. Rayne spread his wings, and drifted down to the sidewalk. Feather by feather, his wings came apart and fluttered away in the wind. His eyes were his pretty hazel, and he looked on torwards the park, and began to make his way there. Still, red stained his cheeks. An angel to kill monsters... created from children. Such innocent children. Itsuki Miamora, age nine, Steven Mitchells, age eight, and Eliza Sorten, age ten.

There had been an accident on the nearby highway a week earlier. A kindergarten bus had been involved in a terrible multi-car pile-up. These children had died horrible deaths. The news reports had said they'd had broken bones and punctured organs. None of the children had survived or their teacher or the driver. It had been a terrible ordeal, and the news crews hadn't been able to stay away from the story. So, it was no surprise it had gotten immediate attention when one of three children came back to life at her wake. Itsuki came back to life, and the other two had disappeared from their coffins. The team had managed to keep the families quiet about this, but the problem was all the media attention on Itsuki. She'd been taken to the hospital, but then the hospital had been supposedly attacked by a monster. Many people were killed...

Rayne shook himself, it did nothing for him to think of this monster as a little girl, he knew very well she was a shikabane, as well as the other two.

Anue and Tahlia had been tracking the other children, and waited for him at the entrance to the park. Up a long flight of stone stairs, was where the children played. Ren and the others in his little group were posted along the perimeter, watching in case one of the kids tried to get away before they had destroyed them.

Tahlia nodded at Rayne, and looked to the steps. "It's tough when it's children, isn't it?"

Anue crossed her arms. "But I've never heard of so many coming back at once from a single accident."

"It doesn't change our job, whatever the reason is." Rayne spoke, his voice cold, though his brow furrowed and he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Let's go wake thos kids from the nightmare they're trapped in." Rayne took the steps by storm, running up them two at a time, his gun raised. The children each looked at them, and scrambled to back up against one another. "We're gonna play... we're gonna play..."

Knowing what they had come here for, the children kept chanting, until their forms changed into something else entirely. Without missing a beat, Rayne began to fire at the one charging him, the one that had been Steven. "You wanna play with me? Then come on!"

OOC: Alright, here's our first fight. It's supposed to be a nasty one. The shikabane of children. Remember, this is what we do. They aren't human anymore, and they are monsters, but that doesn't mean we have to like what we have to do. the picture above is what they look like after they transform.

Anue sprinted to the left as one of the little girls dashed in that direction, coming up short as the girl, Eliza looked at her with tears in her eyes, she had yet to transform completely.
"Your not gonna kill me are Miss? Your not gonna hurt me right? I just wanna go home..."
Anue felt her heart squeeze, she had always wanted children and to see such an innocent form turned into this...it torn at a part of her she thought she had blocked away.
"I'm sorry, but your no longer a sweet little girl...you've killed...we can't let that go."
"Does that mean you wanna play?"
Anue tapped the toes of her steel toed boots in the mud tightening them onto her feet as she dropped down into a well known Salivate stance, low to the ground and blananced so as to not get knocked over. Spitting the spent cigarette from her mouth she flipped to her right as the child turned monster charged at her as it transformed into a sickly looking Grey creature doing a swift hand spring she was back on her feet and facing the monster when a familiar form join beside her.
"Oni, I really don't need your help here."
"Rayne instructed me to assist you."
"You know, that attitude of yours is really kinda charming sometimes, and than there are the other times, like now. It's really a pain in the ass!"
The last word was yelled as she did a wide back hand flip as the massive claw like hand made a small crater in the ground she was standing moments before.
"Well that would have sucked."
She looked over at Rayne as he faced his own monster and yelled across the playground.
"Are we allowed to transform?"
"Not right now, you should be more than able to take these out in your current forms. We don't need any more problems with the media on this."
"Yeah yeah, I got it. Don't get your feathers ruffled."
Switching tactics she dug the toes of her boots into the mud and pushed off with her left foot into a swift sprint, charging the monster head on at the last moment she flipped onto her right hand and did a front hand spring high into the air and landed on the beasts shoulders as if it were getting a piggy back ride from the monster and stood up balancing her self on her left leg, her grounding leg and brought her right leg into a vertical split getting ready to deliver a might axe kick when the thing shook it's shoulders violently causing her to lose her balance and fall from the things shoulder landing hard on her left side. Grunting from the pain in her shoulder she sighed and cursed as she let out the foul word with the sigh. reaching up into her hair she took the small scythe charm and began to spin it on her finger til it was as tall as she was, swinging it forward the gleam of the black blade and the ivory, spine crafted handle contrasting off her slightly tanned skin making the weapon seem like it hand almost an ethereal glow to it, the monster took a small step back feeling the power emanating from the spectral looking the scythe.
"Alright, time to get to work. Onidus flank it and we'll see if we can't take this unholy thing down with just a few well aimed hits."
Gaining nothing but a nod she didn't wait for anything else as she swung the blade behind her to rest against her shoulder as she ran, ready to end this slaughter and get back home to a hot bath and a cold beer.

Tahlia rushed in after Rayne, though this was one time she didn't completely despise these shikabane. Often, the reason for a child to become a shikabane was a desire to simply stay in this world and keep on playing forever. But, even still, they are monsters.

Regardless, there was a job to do. Itsuki lunged at her, running on it's hands, her bloated head screeching at the top of her lungs. She had no legs, only a jagged spine that ended in a bony spike. Flipping over, she lunged at Tahlia, and she wasn't fast enough to dodge. Crying out in pain, Tahlia dropped to her knees as Itsuki began to wrench herself from Tahlia's body and claw at her face. Blood squirted everywhere, she'd been pierced through completely just under her ribcage. Tahlia grabbed Itsuki and threw her away, slamming her into the plastic slide and breaking it. Instantly Itsuki was up again and charging Tahlia. Her wound spattered more blood on the rain soaked grass, though already she was healing up.

Itsuki screeched, and pointed her spinal spike at Tahlia again. She ducked, though felt the spike and claws scrape against her face. Skidding to a stop, Itsuki began to chant again. "We're gonna play!"

"Playtime's over!" Tahlia shouted, and withdrew her dual pistols from the holsters under her skirt. Itsuki charged, leaping with her claws stretched. Tahlia dodged, but her skirt ripped all the way to the hem thanks to the razor sharp claws of the shikabane. "I just bought this!" she cried, and began shooting again. By this point, all that remained of her would appeared to be a deep cut and blood all around the wound. Aiming as the shikabane jumped at her again, she shot it in the shoulder, and it squealed like a demonic pig. Itsuki rolled around on the ground, shreiking. "I'm sorry, little one. I'll apologize to you eventually... when we meet in the world beyond." Tahlia rolled to the side as the child reared up and charged at her again, this time shredding her top along the stomach.

"It's too fast... I can't get a good shot off!" Tahlia cried.

"Then try harder!" Rayne shouted back at her, busy with Steven.

"Easy for you to say!" she retorted. Tahlia dodged to the side, and pistol whipped the shikabane as it pierced her flesh once more, this time just to the left of her heart. Crying out again, she smacked the shikabane with her pistol over and over while it twisted and writhed its tail into her, ripping her lung apart. Finally, she was able to aim at it, and shot through the monster's arm, infact shooting it off. IT yanked away, and turned to run away. "Ren! Get it!" Tahlia yelled. Edited by ExcelExcel

The afternoon seemed a tad bit gloomy with all the gray clouds and small burst of rain, nothing too heavy but enough to make people either stay inside or just go out to a restaurant, Kenneth did just that. Enjoying a drink and some food with his human friends that he's made while living amongst them for the past several years, the pub was quite lively with humans as they enjoyed the sports on their "television" as they called it, and enjoying a fine selection of brew from the barkeep. Definitely a large change from Kenneth's time period before he became an Angel, but he could never forget then comfort and company of friends none the less.

"So Ken, think you might wanna take the trip with us to the mountains next month?" A raven haired woman asked, she enjoyed her martini sip by sip before moving some strands of her hair away from her face. "It's suppose to be lovely by this time with all the now and wind, I'm sure you'd love it".

"Yeah bud, we're gonna go snowboarding and make a huge bonfire each night, don't miss out on an adventure of a lifetime" His friend Anthony replied, seeing all these people has made Kenneth remember all of his friends from his past life, almost exactly the same. More rain began to pour lightly outside as the clouds got darker....but it was an unusual change that happened so fast.

"Well my friends, the offer is tempting, I shall give you an answer when I am fully aware of my plans" His English tongue was getting better to adapt to modern "English". "Be not worried though, I am sure I will be able to attend the festivities". With that, Kenneth rose up from his stool and left the group to go outside for a smoke, a delightful invention by the humans that he enjoyed on occasion. Kenneth stood underneath the pub's umbrella as he lit a smoke, he could still hear inside his friends talking and enjoying himself....but then there was another sound that distracted the man. (Was that a gun...?) Kenneth thought as he took a long drag, but then more shots from the distance could be heard, it was very far away, no normal human could hear the vibrating sounds as they bounced through the walls of the streets. Looking over his shoulder quickly, he could still see his friends enjoying themselves and not noticing his absence much, squatting down to his knees for a moment the angel gathered a small burst of wind to hover underneath his feet as he leapt off from the ground and soared to the top of the nearest building in a flash. On the rooftop he could still hear gunfire in the wind, turning to his left he began to sprint instantly, mere humans would only see a blur if they were to every see him pass by. Hopping from building to building the sounds of struggle and screams seemed to grow stronger, Kenneth finally jumped off from a tall business tower down to a convenient flower shop that overlooked a harmless playground, but the playground itself was the opposite of that. There was a soaked black cloth behind the flower shop sign that blew ever so slightly at the wind, Kenneth grabbed the soaked fabric and wrapped it around his body as he tied the ends at his neck, making himself a hooded robe. Slowly the angel unsheathed his wings from his back, silently so the feathers wouldn't go flying everywhere, grabbing one of the stray feathers he conjured up his black bow and arrow ammunition before sneaking behind the "O" neon sign of the flower shop and looking down at the battle. There were tiny shikabane's fighting with three combatants, two females and one male. But the male seemed familiar to Kenneth somehow, then it hit him. He's seen that human form, but it was a coy, that was a angel he's met before.

"Do my eyes deceive me?...That's Rayne!" It was a shocking conclusion but Kenneth was sure, one of the tiny shikabane lost it's arm due to a close range gunshot from one of the female fighters, it caught Kenneth's attention as it tried to flee.

"Ren! Get it!" She screamed, the tiny creature hobbled on it's knife like arm away from her, Kenneth decided to act quickly before it fled, drawing back his bow and arrow the angel summoned some wind that swirled around the tip of his arrow to help with the accuracy.

"Vanish this unholy creature from the realm of the good" With that, Kenneth released his arrow that shot like a bullet, breaking the sound barrier as it flew towards his mark, only to pierce the shoulder of the shikabane and grounding it to the playground's dirt, the screams echoed more and more as another arrow pierced it's only arm so it wouldn't attack anything that came close. Yet another ear-piercing scream as it was pinned. (It's been quite a while Rayne, but this deserves some explaining) Kenneth thought as he looked down at the fighters, still defending themselves and unleashing their attacks on the unholy creatures, there was something odd about the two female fighters though, something that didn't seem right. Kenneth remained hidden as he launched a couple more arrows to distract the tiny shikabane's and assist the group in the shadows.

Onidus shot Anue a smug smile as he ran to assist her. Approached the young Shikabane it growled fiercely at him.

"I wanna play with her some more!" it said.
Onidus smiled gently at it, almost fatherly.
"Don't you miss your parents?" he said softly.
The Shikabane seemed confused at this. Its stance now awkward and unfocused. Onidus was altering its emotions. Silencing some and exploding others.

"Mommy..." it said looking down at the rain soaked ground.
What Onidus said shook its mind and rattled it to the core. Slowly it reverted back to the small child it once was.
"Now. Let's go see mommy." he said taking the small girl by the hand.
Anue lowered her scythe as she watched.
"Did you thank the pretty lady for playing with you?" he said to the young girl.
She quickly ran to Anue like a child to its mother hugging her as tightly. Onidus gave Anue a rather somber look. He knew she wanted children and that this must be tearing at her.

"You should give him a hug too. For walking you home, okay?" she said with a bit of a quiver. The young girl ran for Onidus and hugged him just as close.
"Okay, let's get you home, kid." he said playfully to her. The young girl released her arms and as she did she fell to the ground. Lifeless.
"Didn't want you have that one on you, Anue." he said turning his gaze to the other two Shikabane.

"One step closer to becoming a monster. Heh..." he said.

Onidus however, would soon find out that this Shikabane was nowhere near dead yet. Edited by Ol' Fighter

Rayne grimanced as the shikabane of Steven Mitchell swiped at him, grazing his shoulder. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see a shadowy figure shoot several arrows. Smiling, he turned his attention back to the shikabane. He leveled his gun at his, and began blasting away rounds at it. It was fast, very fast. It managed to screech at Rayne, causing his ears to bleed. It suddenly shot torwards the other shikabane of Itsuki, and Steven bloated to horrible portions, and opened it's mouth wide to swallow Itsuki. The single form now of the shikabane, transformed into one. It ballooned upwards, appearing to be some misshapen and horribly twisted baby doll over fifteen feet tall. It's eyes glowed red with their yellow irises, and from where a mouth should be, came two arms. All in all, the creature had two sets, and it rose a gigantic fist in the air to bring it down upon him. Rayne back flipped out of harm's way, just as two more arrows shot from the area by the flower shop. They stuck into its form, and with Rayne right in front of it, it attacked. Rayne was fast enough to avoid the attack coming at him, but blind sided by the attack from behind him. It was unbelievably fast, especially for it being so large. Instantly it seized Rayne in its fist, and in a deep voice, it spoke. "I'm gonna play with a pretty dolly..."

Rayne grunted in pain when it began to pull on his hair, yanking it out by the roots. "I get it, now." Rayne said, as he felt himself being squeezed, his bones cracking under the pressure. "Why three kids from the same accident came back from the dead... The three of you had the same regret. You just wanted to keep playing with your friends... So you found a way." Rayne gasped in a shallow breath as he felt his shoulder dislocate. "The three of you were one shikabane from the start!"

Rayne's gun pressed in on the shikabane's flesh, and he smirked. "That's some handshake you got..." With a devilish grin, he pulled the trigger, blasting off the hand of the shikabane. Rayne dropped to the ground, his arm limp at his side. Lifting his other arm, he began to fire relentlessly, aiming at it's body.

"What are you waiting for!? Help me take this thing down! You too Ken!" Edited by Inuyasha Fandom

Ren looked up at the monster. it was difficult for her to attack before, since they were just kids, but she would have no trouble fighting this ugly thing.
Ren tried to force the rain into its eyes, but that only got its attention on her.

"This is one 'dolly' you won't be pulling hair from."

Ren shot a large strand of wet black hair to grab hold of it's arm. Now was her chance. She threw one of her kusarigami into its eye, blinding it. Ren looked back to Onidus. "Don't let it swallow Eliza!"

OOC: Apologies for forgetting a character in my last post. My Bad ^_^

Kenneth marveled at the monster's new giant form, but it was deadlier than he had expected, quicker too. Dashing away from his hiding spot, Kenneth removed his black cloth and jumped from the building top, his wings expanded out to give him flight as he soared over above the playground still in human form, Rayne continued to fire his gun at the creatures torso while moving away from it's oncoming attacks. With one eye gone now, it was thought to be a much easier battle, but that was a thought short lived. The creature had freed himself from the young girl's hair bind and flung his arm wildly to release itself. Swinging it's massive are the beast tossed Ren towards the swing set pole, her body connected and bent the pole upon impact, but her message was clear, keep the last shikabane away before it got too powerful. Kenneth began to launch an assault in the air with his arrows, maneuvering himself in the air with a couple of barrel rolls from the massive hand that was trying to capture him. Onidus and Anue scrambled to get the last Shikabane while the others distracted the larger creature, but it was hungry for more play time and play things, especially Eliza. Kenneth shot a couple of arrows in the back of the creatures neck before landing on the ground, the monster roared at the pain and it stomped on he playground repeatedly, causing slight tremors in the earth as a result. Kenneth went by Ren's side and picked the young girl up before flying further away to get to safety. Rayne covered the two as he shot more bullets into the monsters knees to weaken its balance. Enraged, the monster picked up the swing set from the ground and launched it at Kenneth and Ren, it passed them overhead by mere inches, but it was close to the teeth as Kenneth quickly landed and covered the two from the debree that rose up. Turning around he could see that the monster was coming closer as it walked.

"How do we stop this beast of burden?" Kenneth panted to catch his breath, he helped Ren get onto her feet as they both looked at the monster. Rayne joined the two reloading his weapon.

"Nice to see you're around these parts Ken. Tell me, have you gotten soft over the years of being here?" Rayne smirked, Kenneth only smiled back as he extended his hand towards the giant and gathered the wind around the group and shot a stream of twirling air at the chest of the creature, it seemed to hold it back some, but not enough. Ren turned around to see that Onidus and Anue were having their own troubles handling Eliza, the last of the shikabane left besides the creature before them. Kenneth extened his other arm and released a second stream of wind to aide their allies. "How long can you keep him at bay?"

"Not long, he's stronger than my wind currents, I cannot subdue the beast" Kenneth shouted and grunted over the sound of blowing wind. Rayne continued to fire more clips into the monster, Ren made a quick dash to the right to get behind the monster, once again, releasing her black hair she aimed around the neck to pull it back some to assist with Kenneth's wind push.

"Do what you can, the main priority is to keep Eliza away from him or kill her before it gets the chance to swallow her whole. If that happen, we're up for one hell of a fight" Rayne fired more shots into the creature, the torso area this time. Kenneth focused more energy of his wind technique and gave it his all to keep the monster at bay with the help of Ren's hold from the back. The monster frailed and screamed uncontrollably by the resistance to it's movements. Picking up its massive leg, it quickly stomped on the ground as a tidal wave of earth flew towards Kenneth and Rayne, knocking them down as it passed through them, suddenly the creature jerked its neck violently breaking the bond that Ren had on it. Kenneth hissed as he laid on his side, his left wing had been ripped badly by the gravel that assaulted them as blood ran through his tan feathers and onto the ground, Rayne was sill in pain from his dislocated shoulder, but now suffered from a deeply cut up leg. The monster moved towards them, it's massive foot was about to come down on Kenneth until Rayne tackled and rolled the two out of harms way as the creature passed them by without noticing them, it was more concerned on it's new play mate....Eliza.

OOC: I didn't know how to really go from here, but there it is.

Anue sprinted in the direction of the on coming monster, swinging her scythe out in front of her she dropped to her knees and put the blade on her legs sliding underneath the beast bringing the blade up she sliced the under side of the belly and spun around looking at it with sad eyes as it screeched loudly from the pain.
"I am sorry little one...but you have to rest now."
Spinning the scythe she sprinted forward and swung to the right with a powerful swing, Onidus landed on the blade and used it as a boost as she launched him towards the monster, she looked away as she heard it screech in pain once again and gripped her shirt, right above her heart as she heard it land on the wet ground, presumably dead. She was thankful it was still raining, at least it would hide the tears that streaked her face, her blue eyes darker than usual from her sadness. She twirled her scythe until it transformed back into the tiny hair clip which she put in her hair to hold her bangs back away from her face. Looking up at Rayne she heaved a sigh.
"What next?"
She froze as she heard shuffling behind her and dropped to her knees as a gruesom claw rushed above her.
"What the hell?! that things not dead yet?"
Jumping up she ran at the ungly thing, now dripping blood from the many attacks the team had hit it with, and jumped high into the air to deliver a powerful kick to the top of it's skull but she was a second to late as it's claw caught her around the stomach and sent her flying through the playground, she let out a scream as her back it a tree and she heard her spine crack painfully.
"Damnit!"
She coughed and was not surprised when blood colored the green grass at her feet, she looked up as Onidus knelt beside her.
"Are you able to move?"
"Who the hell do you think your talking to? Of coarse I can move."
Meaning to stand she grunted as pain shot up her spine causing her to hit her knees and grit her teeth.
"Alright, maybe I need a few minutes..."
He nodded and left her to help the others while she let her advanced healing slowly fix her so that she too could get back into the fight.
"This...sucks."

Tahlia began firing once more into the monster, knowing fully well that shikabane never go down easy. She aimed for the head, planning on taking out the brain. She fired as it was distracted, blasting holes into its flesh, though failing to take it out. This did succeed in getting its attention, and it came running at her. Tahlia was still recovering from her earlier wound to her chest, but she wasn't at all crippled by it. "Come on!" Tahlia fired away, dodging its blows, and jumping up into the air to deliver a debilitating kick to its head. Any human that would have been hit by it would have instantly been killed, but Tahlia wasn't fighting a human.

The shikabane reeled, but wasn't down. Tahlia came down on it, wrapping her legs around one of its arms and twisted with all her strength, causing the cold, dead bones to snap, and the flesh to rip apart. It roared, and Tahlia's heart panged with grief. Despite this, she didn't miss a beat and fire away more rounds into its head.

It now stood there, stunned from the many bullets and now the loss of its arm. It stumbled foreward, and fell face first into the dirt, crushing the jungle gym. Tahlia straightened up, her recovering wounds plain for the world to see, and her ample bussom exposed, showing off the shredded remains of it as it regenerated. Her clothing was in tatters, though, she seems to pay no heed to it. Her stance was defiant, poised, and ready as she brought her guns up and reloaded them. Her breast finished regenerating, and she aimed her pistols once more, one at eliza, and one at the huge monster before her. Her eyes filled with tears as she prepared herself to kill the monsters. "I'm so sorry, little ones. Maybe I can ask forgiveness one day." It was then she unleashed a rain of lead and hell, and the shikabane of Eliza was shredded to pieces, as was the shikabane of the other two. The shikabane of Itsuki and Steven separated, and they tried to flee. But with Ren's hair suddenly coming in to bind Steven, it was no match for the team's onslaught. Ken launched several arrows, obliterating it. Onidus leapt in, and crushed Itsuki body as Rayne fired at her head. Anue slowly stood, placing her scythe back within her hair. She limped to the group, though it was obvious she hated what they'd had to do.

Tahlia collapsed to her knees, and began to sob uncontrollably. She'd had no choice; they'd had no choice. The children were at peace now, wasn't that enough? If so, why did Tahlia's heart still feel like it was ripping itself apart? Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder, and looked up, startled. Rayne was kneeling above her, his eyes filled with blood instead of tears. They dripped down his cheeks, and he nodded, his unspoken words clear as day. He knew what she was feeling. She nodded back to him, and stood, though she felt little better. By this time, her body had completely regenerated, though her breasts were fully exposed from the condition her clothing was in. She knew her body was hot stuff, though she also knew she was just dead flesh. All of her beauty was wasted now.

"Feel special, I don't usually give people a peep show." she said, trying to make a joke to put everyone at ease with what had just been done. With that she turned to the new guy. "So... I guess I should thank you for helping us."

Rayne smiled, and he grasped his shoulder. There was a loud wet pop, and he flexed his arm. "Ah, that's better." He took off his jacket, and threw it to Tahlia. "There you go, sweets. While your boobs are quite nice, I really don't want to see them."

Tahlia laughed, and put the jacket on, zipping it up to cover herself and her lovely boobies. Ken looked on, looking antsy. "Rayne... She is but a shikabane!" He drew his bow and arrow, aiming at her. "She's a beast who will turn on everything she has ever known!"

Rayne leveled his gun at Ken in a heartbeat. "True. But she isn't a monster yet. She is still possessed of her humanity. Only when she loses that will she be killed, and by ME. She is under MY protection." Rayne's hazel eyes shimmered red, and showed only the steel will of an angel who had fought long and hard for centuries, and for a cause that was far more benevolent than anything else. "Things change, Ken. Circumstances change. I will ask you now to put away your weapon. I have no quarrel with you, and you aim at someone now who has not lost their humanity, something I live and exist to protect."

Hesitantly, Ken did so, and Rayne lowered his gun, though didn't put it away. "Rayne... how can you choose to ally yourself with these people? Are they not enemies of the celestial heavens?" Ken asked, bewildered.

"No, they aren't. They are the protectors of the innocent. Isn't that worth everything? Aren't we supposed to protect the innocent? We are angels, after all. Surely, this does not elude you."

"But you hath turned your back upon the heavens. And have continued to do so for centuries."

"And it is to protect the humans. I fight for the only reason that a battle should be fought. To protect something. These are my allies in this battle. They too share my heart on this matter." Rayne stated matter-of-factly. "You could join us, you know. You'll find a host of experiences to enlighten yourself." Rayne put his gun away and continued. "And... maybe you won't be such a stick in the mud. Besides, that old english has GOT to go."

Ken looked down at his feet, unsure. "I... do not know... This is too much to comprehend for in but a single moment."

Rayne smiled, and his eyes returned to their normal hazel color. "Come on, you know that this fight is a good one, even if you have unusual allies. You know as well as I do that this is the true war, and one almost no one seems to want to heed. The war to spare innocent lives. Even you have seen what some of the forces of heaven are willing to do to eradicate demons, and even other angels. You know some angels, just like some demons, prey on humans."

Ken sighed. "You are correct. I... I am not positive of this, but I shall join you in your endeavors. But, if for but a moment I fear these entities shall turn on me, or any of the others, I will end them."

"That's good enough for me, though you'll have to go up against me to do so." Rayne said, and grabbed him by the arm. "Let's go to the pad and check out what's going on in the area. Our fight is never over, unfortunately." With a smile and charming yank, Rayne began to lead Ken.

--------------------------------------

With the others edgy about the newcomer, they all made their way back to the top floor of a luxury hotel, one of which they had no problems paying for. Money seemed to make the human world go round, and though money they had ample opportunities to gather information. Of course, the rooftop posed an interesting way to get in and out of the hotel if they didn't wish to be seen. Each of them had a means to get up, or to just be lifted up and carried when someone with wings would take them. Rayne landed, and put Ren down onto her feet. After transforming back into his normal human form, he opened the door to the rooftop access stairwell and proceeded down to the suite. He smiled when he entered, the maids had been through. Everything was sparkling clean, and he had no worries about them finding 'interesting' things. They were all wise enough keep their weapons and such in locked cases. Other than that, there wasn't really any issues. Except perhaps Tahlia's cooking.

"So, welcome to home base. Here you'll find all the comforts of home and, of course, cold beers and hot food. Some of us know some recipes that'll knock you out of your boots! And , of course, ours are authentic. Humans really do know how to make the tastiest things...At least, back in the olden days. Home cooking is still the best." Rayne plopped down on the overstuffed couch, and smiled. "Have a seat. Someone will get you a beer. Though, tonight I'm afraid it's Tahlia's turn to cook dinner."

Tahlia giggled, and went into the kitchen, while others groaned. "Um... Maybe someone should help her before shes blows up the hotel..." Anue said, and Ren spoke up. "I'll go help her." She too then went into the kitchen to help Tahlia make dinner.

"Is the lady Tahlia a bad cook?" Ken asked, and sat down, looking around the hotel's living room. Anue laughed, and replied, "Bad cook doesn't even begin to cover it. How someone could turn a simple budson burner into a flamethrower is beyond me."

"Budson burner?"

"Don't worry about it." Onidus spoke. "It's sufficed to say that she can make innocent objects into terrible weapons by complete accident." He smirked jokingly. "Of course, that's a part of her charm."

"I heard that!" Tahlia yelled from the kitchen. "Remind me to poison your portions!" Rayne and Onidus just laughed in response. Tahlia's threats were humouus, though harmless, at least for the time being.

Ken was breath taken by the "pad" as Rayne called it, it was wonderous and extravagant, kind of like the gates to heaven....but less shinny. Some argument and commotion could be heard it the kitchen, he guessed that there was an artistic difference about the meal that was being made, around the corner came Onidus with a couple of beer bottles in his hand. He politely handed Rayne his brew, then tossed the other spare at Ken. Catching it quickly he scowled and grunted at the rude gesture. Onidus simply brushed it off and made his way to the open couch as he sat facing Ken. Rayne laid on the couch that separated the two along with a long glass table top.

"Usually people say "Thank You", but I'll excuse your manners in our home". Onidus smirked as he opened his bottle and took a large gulp, as the bottle opening left his lips, it began to shake somewhat it his hand. Suddenly the bottle bursted into several pieces, spilling on Onidus's lap and on the floor some. The sound was loud enough for the three woman to peek their head out of the kitchen to see what had happened.

"I thank thee kindly for the brew" Ken laughed under his breath as he took a quick sip before setting the bottle on the glass table. Rayne signed heavily as he sat up from his spot and rubbed the back of his neck.

"I know it's not easy for you to adjust so easily, but they are good guys Ken. No reason to use force" Taking a sip of his cold beverage he looked over his shoulders and gave a nod towards the girls, taking the hint they went back to making supper for the party. Ken simply smiled and lifted the bottle again, when he brought the neck of the bottle to his lips the glass shattered open into several pieces, having the same effect of making a mess. Ken looked dumfounded until he looked across the table to see Onidus's arm in his beastly form, stretching his claws making a fist.

"Fair is fair. For an angel, you sure are different from Rayne. Definitely a stick in the mud, you can't even see who allies are anymore, human world making you go soft?" Onidus relaxed in his recliner, cool and poised like the way he felt. He knew there was something he had over the angel across from him, he was "old school".

"Since when hath I call you an ally wretched creature? I've fought along side with Rayne in holy wars and bouts against our enemies, namely you and other creatures of misbegotten forms. I join the crusade to assist an angel, yet again, ANGEL" Both stood to their feet simultaneously staring one another down, hatred in Kenneth's eyes, strategic planning in Onidus's. Once again, simultaneously acting on impulse both beings transformed into their true forms, a holy fighter standing off with the feral wolf shikabane. This time, it was Anue and Tahlia who came out of the kitchen now, Tahlia aiming her weapon at Ken while Anue went to Odius' side, placing a hand on the growling wolf's shoulder, he looked into her eyes. Stern, yet comforting eyes, his growls softened and ceased as he stood tall and calm over her.

"We don't have to like him, or the situation, but he did help us. But we follow Rayne's judgement on bringing him here, he doesn't do that...ever." Anue rubbed his furred shoulder some as Ondius grunted, turning his head to his side while crossing his arms. Still keeping an eye on the blond haired angel. Ken felt the cold steel of Tahlia's pistol on his shoulder, she came close without him paying attention.

"So, how does it feel?" Winking at the winged warrior, he knew it was payback for drawing his weapon on her earlier. Ken signed as he turned back to his human form, but he kept his wings out, it was more comfortable that way. The silence in the air was that of death itself, but it was broken quickly by the sound of Ken's cellular phone as it went off in his jean pocket. Taking it out he tried to answer it, but Rayne took the phone before he could see who was calling. Tahlia lowered her gun and went back into the kitchen giggling some. "Score 1 point for me"

"Who's calling you this late Ken?" Rayne smiled, Ken tried to take it back, but his angelic ally was playing that "keep away" game he's seen human kids play.

"The idea does not pass my mind, now unhand my property Rayne" Laughing a bit, Rayne looked at the caller I.D and saw the name, he opened the flip phone and saw the image of a very beautiful woman, but Rayne stopped joking around once he recognized who she was, that's when Ken finally got his device back and answered. "Alas, if you'll forgive my leave....and my...manners earlier" With the he shot a glance over to Ondius, still staring him down. Ken squinted his eyes ever so slightly as he frowned and returned the stare. "I shall be conversing outside for a moment" With that, Ken answered and began to talk as he went outside on the balcony.

"So...? Was calling?" Anue finally asked, Odius turned back to his human form and went into the kitchen with the others, maybe watching Tahlia cook would calm him down.

"Looked like Victoria" Rayne sighed sadly as he sat back down on the couch, He ruffled his hair some when he scratched the back of his neck. Anue sat next to him and relaxed some herself.

"Pretty name. You know her?" Anue asked as she placed both feet on the glass table to stretch.

"Know of her...she was his wife centuries ago before he was killed. I think I found out why he like's the human world so much now."

"You're guess is as good as mine" Anue shrugged her shoulders.

"I think he's been trying to find her reincarnation form, or doppelganger all these years." Rayne watched though the glass window as Ken leaned against the railing talking on the phone, smiling. "The poor fool"

"I think it's kinda sappy romantic, we all have our history from the past." Anue gave a playful punch to Rayne's left arm, both laughing a bit before Ren popped her head out from the corner.

"Dinner is ready, get it while it's hot!" She shouted smiling.

OOC: Sorry for my vanishing act. Work has been crazy. .-.

"An angel burger sounds wonderful right now." Onidus joked to Tahlia.
"Heel boy. No angel burgers for you." she chuckled.

Onidus actually wasn't very hungry. His hick-up earlier caused him to be extremely restless and a little hard boiled. It was his first time ever making such a dire mistake and it really pissed him off. He couldn't completely stop himself from morphing into his wolf form.

"Back in a bit. Two wolves in the same room just spells trouble." he said transforming fully now. He couldn't help but growl a little in Ken's general direction feeling his blood boil even though he was out of site. Rayne gave Onidus a look that implied for him to stop whatever feral thoughts were flowing through his mind. Smirking at this he bolted towards Ken with vicious intent startling everyone, but to their surprise he simply leaped over the angel.

"I bet you'd taste horrible anyway." he said landing atop another building. Edited by Ol' Fighter

Tahlia sighed, and sat down on one of the couches to eat her cheeseburger and fries. She didn't really need to eat, being that she was dead, but she did get hungry from time to time. This particular burger Ren had helped her make, though it was Tahlia's recipe, one her own mother had made on occasion. The others were now making plates for themselves, and sitting around the living room to eat.

"So who made this?" Rayne asked. "It's delicious."

"It was a group effort."

"True, but only so the hotel didn't get destroyed." Anue quipped. Tahlia giggled, and munched away on her burger. Ken was sitting next to her, watching the window Onidus had leaped out of. He took a bite of his burger, and immediately focused on it. "Delicious! Angel Burger truly is the best decription!"

Tahlia simply smiled. "See, how can a monster make something so tasty?" She went back to her burger, happy with the compliment. Ken ate his burger ravenously, like he hadn't eaten in days.

"Ken, I really must apologize for Onidus. He can be... hard headed, to say the least."

"And his fur clogs the shower drains." Tahlia joked. Rayne shot her a pointed glance, and his eyes shimmered red for a second. Tahlia hushed, and she went back to eating. Anue watched with keen interest, and Ren munched away as well.

"Onidus... doesn't seem to much care for me."

"And I don't blame him, you aren't exactly being the friendliest person either." Rayne looked out the window out at the sky, his expression sad. "It does not do that we hate each other, we have to work together in order to save more lives. I'll be telling Onidus this as well. Will you try to at least be more civil?"

"I will, as you ask." Smiling, Tahlia finished her burger, and was now working on her seasoned fries. They were yummy, though Tahlia was quickly losing her appetite. "I think I'm going to go for a walk after I change clothes and see if I can find Onidus. I'll be back later."

"Watch yourself, we never know what's nearby." Rayne replied.

---------------------

Tahlia walked the streets, now dressed in a rather tight fitting dress and a long jacket. She wondered where Onidus might be, though if he wanted to be found, she would eventually. The sounds of music could be heard from down the street, and she follwed them to a record store. Apparently, Kun Osaki was making a comeback. Tahlia hadn't heard anything about her in years, though it seemed she hadn't aged much in the five years she hadn't been in the public limelight. Five years... And now she was making comeback. Her new album was already number one on the pop charts. Judging from the music blasting from the store as well as the many, many posters of Kun on the walls it her album playing. Tahlia listened in for a moment, though... something just didn't appeal to her about it. Tahlia could remember listening to her older albums and loving them. But... there just wasn't something there anymore, that spark it once held.

Sighing, Tahlia moved on, looking everywhere before finally coming to a park to sit in. Memories of playing in a park similar to this as a kid flashed in her mind, and she sat down on a bench to thing to herself. Edited by ExcelExcel

Anue wolfed down the food much like a starving animal would, as quickly as she could so as not to taste it. It wasn't that she hated the other woman's cooking, it's just she had sensitive taste and smell and sometime the woman would use spices that didn't really go together. Tonight was one of those nights. Swallowing the final bite she stuck her tongue out.
"Ya know, she'd be a wonderful cook for a human...I call dibs on breakfast in the morning."
Standing from the table she stretched and let out a small yawn.
"Well, I'm gonna go tail after Oni, make sure he doesn't get himself into trouble. We all know how he is."
Grabbing her leather jacket she grabbed her set of apartment keys, slipped on her boots and headed out the door.
"Don't wait up!"
She heard Rayne from the kitchen.
"Back by dawn. You hear me Anue!"
"Yeah yeah yeah."
She took the stairs, not wanting to wait for the elevator, hopping them 2 at a time on her way down, reaching the bottom she opened the door and took a deep lungful of fresh air, catching Onidus' scent almost instantly, as well as Tahlia's.
"Man, they sure leave behind a stink don't they? Lia should be fine on her own, she's not the one I'm worried about but if a human sees a giant wolf that loping around here there'll be trouble. "
She began to walk in the direction that Onidus had take and before long ended up back in the park they had been at before, she couldn't say she was completely shocked. She saw him, in his human form thankfully, sitting on a bench looking at the ground and deep in thought. Kicking a stone on the ground to make noise and let him know she was there she saw the twitch on his eye brow; the only indication he knew she was there.
"Hey comrade...whatcha thinking about?"
"It's not your concern. You should go home."
"And leave the big bad wolf alone out here? I don't think so."
She heard the growl bubble in his throat and answered it with one of her own, the others sometimes forgot that she was a canine demon, though her transformation didn't give much into what breed of canine she was it was still there in her looks. He smirked and shook his head.
"Your a stubborn one aren't you?"
"Like all the rest of us. So why did you come back to this place...didn't get enough of it the first time?"
"Same to you. I thought killing those children would make you avoid places like this for the rest of your lifetime."
Anue felt her heart tighten and closed her eyes.
"You know. I would usually take offense and try to rip your head off about now-"
"Yes, you tend to do that alot with me don't you."
"-and it's only cause you piss me off so much with your 'Oh I'm such a loner, leave me alone so I can wallow in my aloneness all alone' which I can respect...if you actually were alone."
"That was quiet the mouthful."
"Shut up dog breath."
Again he smirked and said nothing.
"Thing is Oni...your not alone. You have us. Me and Rayne and everyone else on the team. You know that right?"
His silence told her everything she needed to know.
"You always have us. No matter what."
She leaned back into the bench and smiled as he sighed.
"Your not leaving me alone are you?"
"Again with the alone thing. Just for that...Nope, your stuck with me. Oh and Rayne wants us back before dawn."
"As usual."
"Yup."
She put her hands on the back of her head and sat there with him as he remained quiet, whether in thought or just ignoring her she didn't know and didn't really care.

OOC: If Ken already left, ignore my part about the two angels.

There was a stillness in the air that was getting uncomfortable. Tahlia and then Anue had left to go find Onidus. Now Ren was wishing she had left with one of them to help them search. She was fine around Rayne, but Ken made her a little uncomfortable with his talks about Shikabane. Now she was the only non-angel in the room and she needed an excuse to go too. It was harder than she thought, being alone with two angels.

"Well, I'm glad everyone enjoyed dinner." Ren said after clearing everything up. "But now if you don't mind, I'm going to excuse myself to take a shower. You wouldn't believe how long it takes me to wash my hair." Ren said, trying to lighten the mood. It failed though and she quickly walked out feeling stupid for making a joke without Tahlia around.

After her shower, which didn't take that long with Ren keeping her hair short, she looked through her old CD's after getting dressed. One of them caught her eye, one that she forgot that she owned.

Opening up the stereo's CD player, Ren listened to her Kun Osaki CD. The sounds of the CD drifting into the other rooms in the apartment as Ren sat there listening, alone with her thoughts.

OOC: Sorry if it's a bit short too. I don't want to do much until Onidus, Anue and Tahlia come back. Also I didn't think too many people should leave the apartment or I would go with them.

The morning hours drew near as one by one the small group went their ways for some relaxation or personal space, Rayne and Ken were left in the living room after Ren took her leave, noticing the time Ken decided to make his departure to his own residence. He knew he would have to explain to his friends about his absence earlier that evening eventually, standing the angel spread his wings like his arms to stretch some before stretching his muscles.

"Going somewhere?" Rayne asked as he took a sip of some coffee he gathered from the kitchen earlier.

"I must be on my way, the hour is late my friend and I am in dire need of rest. Fear not though ally, I shall be in touch" Ken wrote down his mobile phone number for Rayne just in case he was to call upon him for any assistance. Ken made his way towards the balcony window. "You can reach me any time. And if so, please inform Tahlia that super was delicious" Ken smiled, Rayne only lifted his coffe glass as to "cheer" Ken's statement, with that, the Angel had a small running start before jumping over the ledge railing and falling down from the building, moments later he expanded his wings and took flight into the nights sky, staying high above the clouds so as not to be seen by any humans. The trip was short to his living quarters, a nice sized house in the suburbs with a large front and back yard, flowers bloomed and trees to provide shade during the hot seasons. Ken dove from the sky and landed softly in front of his entrance door, noticing all the lights were on inside already, it made the angel questionable. Twisting the door knob slightly it opened without resistance, the dim lights in the living room were made by candle light, but the only true source of bright light came from his personal chamber, slowly making his way upstairs and to his front door, there was a small crack, peering through he could see his female friend from earlier with the long raven hair, Victoria. The woman who mirrored his former wife back when Ken was a human. Opening the door slowly as to not make a sound over the television, Ken crept inside and made his way to the side of the bed.

"You have some explaining to do..." The voice shocked Ken some, he barely made it half way to the restroom before he was spotted.

"My apologies ma'am, but...uhm....work needed me for a complication" Ken lied quickly, only to receive an evil glare from the woman, she was scary when she was frustrated. eventually she sighed and took off her boots before climbing under the covers.

"You get off easy this time Kenneth, but don't make it a regular thing. And you DO owe me for today's stunt" She closed her eyes and made herself comfortable on the soft mattress, Ken went to his closet to change clothes for sleep time, a simple pair of sweat pants and tank top sufficed, he made his way over to the other side of the mattress and joined his friend under the sheets.

"My lady, how can I accomplish that task?" He wondered as he nestled his head next to hers on the same pillow. Suddenly she flashed two peices of paper in front of his face, Ken leaned back to get a better vision of what they were.

"You're going with me to see this concert, I wont them earlier in the week on the raido, and I'm NOT going alone. They're to Kun Osaki's newest tour, and she has a show coming to town soon. You're my date." She smiled and turned the opposite way to get some sleep. Ken was a bit caught off by the task....he hated concerts, they were always too loud and crowded.

"But Victo-" He was off.

"Not a word, you owe me, end of discussion. Good Night" Victoria snapped softly. Ken whimpered a little before rolling to his back with his hands behind his head pouting some. His eyes drifted down slowly as he got some rest from the day's events.

Rayne smiled, it was ten minutes after sun up now, and Anue and Oni rushed in the door. Tahlia had long dince returned, and fallen asleep. The sounds of music had stopped as well, Ren was asleep as well. Rayne had a laptop next to him, dimly glowing and showing hospital, police, and a e-mails, all pertaining to one person.

"So, you finally make it back."

"Hey, we're back before the city woke up." Anue quipped, and Rayne shrugged and finished off his coffee. "So... Our next target."

With this Anue and Onidus froze, and slowly turned to look at him, their coats only halfway into the closet. "What is it?"

"A pop singer. And her newest album is already number one on the charts. Quite a comeback after a few years, correct? Not bad, for a shikabane."

Onidus sat down on the couch, and next to him Anue sat down. They knew Rayne had more to say, and he pressed a button on his computer. Instantly a woman's voice could be heard. Her voice was beautiful, and The others listened to the music. "Kun Osaki is dead."

"Who is?" Rayne turned to look at Ren, and smiled. "Sit down, we're talking about the pop singer who's making a comeback."

"Why can't we have this conversation at a reasonable hour?" Tahlia said, and came out of her room, dressed in her night clothes. Her hair was mussed, and she yawned loudly. "Let's get this over with."

"Right... So we're going after Kun Osaki. People have been disappearing for some time around her. A taxi driver, a producer, a landlord... too many to be just coincidence." Rayne paused, looking at the stereo as it finished Kun's song. "There were rumors of her frailty. Supposedly, she had suffered from heart disease as a young child, but it had been taken care of. Then, one day she fainted in the recording studio. A publicist said she was just exhausted fro all her work, but it was more grave than that."

"Come to think of it, she hasn't been seen in public for years." Ren added. "There were no concerts during all this time either."

"You're right..." Anue stated. "It's all just a big cover-up. But who has that kind of power to cover something like this and keep it secret?"

"Well, think about it. Almost everyone in show buisness has a connection to the underground. She's no different, but I suspect that it's those around her who are the ones with that kind of power. The producer, the manager, all of them. She's been known to have enourmous groups of body guards. What we're going to have do depends on how things go in the next week. There is, for whatever reason, a comeback concert being held at the city civic center seven days from now. It's time to study our enemy folks."

"Roger that."

"On it."

"When can we start blowing things up?"

"I'll be on it first thing when we wake up."

Rayne looked at his empty coffee mug, and smiled. "Time for bed... " He walked over to his own chambers, and waited for a moment for everyone to close their doors before he his own. It was with that Rayne took off his clothes, sent Ken a text message to return the next day for their new mission, and lied down to sleep. Edited by Inuyasha Fandom

Onidus looked around his room as he laid in bed. He was still having a little trouble controlling his alter form.

"A wolf's gotta have his pride."

Onidus was far too flustered to sleep and far too angry. The battle earlier was tearing him up inside and he just couldn't understand why. Killing came easy for him. A little too easy, but that was his family's business. Death to him was the equivalent of taking a shot: a moment of discomfort followed by pleasure. There was nothing he could come up with that justified this feeling he had.

Walking the streets now, he was desperately holding off his yearning to go feral. He just wanted to go berserk for some reason. Admittedly, he wanted some poor bastard to come his way, but he quickly stopped this train of thought.

"A beast like you should be destroyed on spot..." a winged figured said from above a tree. Onidus could see that it was an angel and a rather cute one at that.
"Watch it or you'll be my next meal, girly." he said with a slight chuckle. She was not amused by this at all leaping down from the tree and staring down Onidus with pure hatred.

"A walking abomination is all you are. Show me your true self, beast." she commanded. Onidus obliged her almost to quickly as he dashed at her with destruction in his eyes. The angel was caught of guard by his speed, but avoided the fatal blow.

"I can smell your fear. Taste it even." Onidus said while projecting his aura towards her. She was indeed shaken. Her hands trembling and her teeth gritted.

"Monster, I won't lose to you!!!" she said forming a sword of pure energy in her hands. The looks of it was a sight to behold. It seemed to swirl with a perilous light that would obliterate anything it touched. Onidus was really fired up now. It was refreshing to see such a formidable foe. His feral nature now taking over he bolted at her or rather her sword aiming to shatter it. His aura was still infecting her. With each dodge she became slower and slower until finally Onidus struck a deadly blow that destroyed her magical sword and sent her deep in the earth. Onidus was growling ferociously at her further shattering her will. She had absolutely no fight left in her and the wound he inflicted was already clouding her vision and hampering her breath.

"Damn you... y-you... MONSTER!" she said crying. Onidus was far too gone. There was but a shred of himself left and the rest was nothing. He grabbed the angel by her arms and stared at her. She did nothing but tremble as she looked into his empty black eyes.

"What is your name?"
"...Se-Serene...."
"Serene."
"What are you going to do to me?"
"...nothing..."

As he said those last words he resumed his human form and released her. Immediately, she formed her magical sword and struck Onidus. There was a supernatural silence as his blood slowly trickled down the blade and onto her hands.

"That was fair I guess." he said pulling the sword from his chest. He then began to walk away from her as if nothing happened. How calm he was after savagely attacking her was unfathomable to her.

"Onidus, by the way." he commented.

Attempting to sneak back inside, he hoped he didn't give himself away as he yelped a little from his wound. Edited by Ol' Fighter

Anue leaned on the door frame as Onidus walked through the kitchen.
"Heard you come in, have a nice side trip?"
"Go back to bed Anue."
"Does the big bad wolf have a boo boo?"
Onidus growled at her as he passed.
"You know, you don't have to be so tough. I can help."
"Yes you can, by leaving me alone."
"So touchy. Here. First aid kit. Use it for once would you?"
She patted his shoulder before she retreated back into her room as the sun finally rose all the way, she really didn't like the sun all that well, it was to bright. Stretching she slipped off her jeans and flopped down onto her bed, shuffling under her blankets she sighed as the blankets settled down around her. Closing her eyes she let herself drift off to sleep with no other thoughts, besides one. Ken, the only other angel. Anue frowned as she cracked open her eyes and looked up at her ceiling. Being the only demon had it's benefits, but also it's downsides. She took a deep breath and shook her head as she rolled over on her right side and drifted to sleep soundly til Rayne woke them up to talk more about their next target.

Tahlia dreamed restlessly, her memories of the night she was brutally murdered replaying over and over in her mind. She awoke with a scream, and it took a moment to realize she was in her room at the hotel. Rayne opened the door to her room, and observed her hard, heavy breathing. "Are you alright?"

"The six..." Tahlia growled. "I'll kill them... I'll destroy all of them!"

"I see. Memories..." Rayne sighed. "Well, I'm not one to say anything about a thirst for vengeance, but we do have a mission. Meet in the living room in an hour."

"Fine." Tahlia took a deep breath, and stood to move towards the bathroom to take a shower. Thankfully, each room had its own bathroom. Living with the others, it would have a bit more of a hassle to share a bathroom with so many people. Tahlia removed her bedclothes and turned on the shower. She let it run for a minute before stepping in.

Cold showers were never all that thrilling. When she stepped in, she caught whiff of her own scent, however faint it was. She lifted a lock of her auburn hair to her nose and sniffed it. "I smell shikabane..." she said, and smiled sadly. "It should be no surprise... after all, what am I?" She laughed, her cheery voice laced with a sorrow eminating from her heart and soul.

She finished her shower and dressed in her typical outfit, a simple yet flattering dress. She placed her holster on her thighs and then her guns were loaded and placed in them. She walked out into the living room, and sat to listen to whatever Rayne had to say. He waited until everyone had the chance to enter and make themselves comfortable, except for the angel Ken. She noted he wasn't there, but once the others had taken their seats, he spoke.

"Kun Osaki has been staying in a nearby condo, on the top floor. Other than that, I have no idea as to what she's capable of. Killing people, naturally. But..." Rayne closed his eyes and crossed his arms. "We have the chance to observe, before we take her on. We have only seven days to learn as much as we can about her, know her weaknesses and then destroy her before her concert. We have to protect the people that might be attending."

Tahlia raised her hand, and Rayne's eyes shifted to her. "Yes?"

"This pop singer has to be well guarded, it's not going to be easy observing her. We can assume those guarding her are also well armed to deal with any threats to their precious singer."

"Very true, and an excellent point." Rayne pressed a button on the television, and it became clear he had hooked it up to his laptop. "We'll be working in shifts, and never for too long. We'll be using the vehicles we've managed to acquire over the years."

Anue smiled. "Dibs on the camero."

"And I'll take the convertible."

Onidus smirked. "You don't even have a license, Tahlia."

"Oh... I kinda forgot that... I'm riding in it at least."

"It doesn't matter. We have our mission laid out before us." Holding up his hand, he had several straws in it. "There's two short straws here, and they will be the first to go scope out the singer."

 • 2 weeks later...
Rayne smirked when they began to pull straws. As it turned out, Onidus and Anue were the first to go check out the singer. Rayne and the others bid them farewell, though Rayne made sure to tell them to be careful as well.

Tahlia smiled, and sat down on one of the couches in the living room when they had left. "Rayne, tell me. Just what harm can this singer do?"

"I don't know. But, I assume more than we can guesstimate she's already done." Rayne bit his thumbnail, and sighed. "I only hope that if we can get her before the concert. Many, many kids are going to be at the concert itself... I'd rather not make a spectacle or traumatize them."

"As I'm sure a sniper shot to her head on stage would." Ren piped in. She came back into the room with a sandwich. "I know I would have need some serious therapy."

"As opposed to now?" Tahlia giggled. Ren smiled sheepishly. "Well, I guess knowing I'm dead helps."

"I suppose." Rayne remarked, his eyes trailing to the television. "I vote we watch cartoons. We have time until Anue and Onidus report back in."

"Did Ken call yet?" Tahlia asked as she grasped the television remote and pressed the power button. She flipped through the channels until she came upon a show featuring bugs bunny. Rayne smiled, and spoke. "I remember when Bugs Bunny was first aired."

"Yes, yes, we know you're an old man." Tahlia chimed. Rayne only tuned into the show with a smile. It wasn't long before Ken indeed called.

"Greetings, Rayne, I must give my sincere apologies for not calling sooner."

"No problems. We have a new mission, if you'd like to be filled in."

"Of course, comrade. Please, continue."

"We're taking out Kun Osaki." When Rayne spoke, there was a funny noise on the other end of the line. "Something wrong?" Rayne inquired.

"Kun Osaki? The singer in town for a week?" There was a hint of being startled, something that didn't happen to Ken often.

"Yes. Is there a problem?"

"Yes... I am supposed to attend the concert..." Rayne remained quiet for a minute, thinking. It wasn't hard to imagine the issue Ken would have. "You know, taking out the singer will aid in protecting her."

"Victoria might be in danger?" It was faint, but Rayne could hear the note of panic in his voice.

"I assume you mean that rhetorically. Yes, Kun is a danger that can't be ignored. It wouldn't be too hard for her to lose it at a concert and kill an entire crowd. And if Victoria was in the crowd..." Rayne let his words trail off, not wanting to speak of the potential horrors that could happen. "Might I suggest you head to the hotel? We already have a plan, though it is best if we work together."

"I shall be there as soon as I possibly can." With that, Ken hung up and Rayne's face looked troubled. "So eager to save the woman he loves..."

"Rayne..." Tahlia placed her hand on his shoulder, and he looked into her pretty eyes. "Can you blame him? You already said she looks like the woman he loved when he was alive a mortal."

"No, I can't. Even I was in love, once upon a time. But, I fear that should an enemy learn of her... she would be his only weakness. I don't think Ken could handle losing her twice."

"I think he's tougher than that." Ren replied, as if she was rooting for him. "Besides, I don't think he'd ever let something happen to her."

Rayne remained silent, and turned back to the television. He knew that history not only repeated itself, but relished in repeating its most bloody moments. He could only hope Victoria wouldn't become a casualty again.

Anue sighed for the millionth time as Onidus talked to the security guard outside of the hotel, she hitched the fake black rimmed glasses higher up on her nose and pulled the first few button lose on her blouse allowing for ample view of her creamy skin. Clearing her throat she sauntered up to the two men arguing quietly, the reactions of the two completely different. Oni chocked on his laughter as she swayed her hips more and gave the human a sultry smile. The man at the end of her wicked leash seemed to have lost his voice as he blinked at Anue.
"Are you sure there's not something I could do to convince you to let us in? Just for a few quick questions?"
"Ma'am I am sorry, you have no idea how sorry I am..." He raked his eyes over Anue "But I can't"
Heaving a sigh Anue walked up to him, wrapped her arm around his waist and drew his pistol, slamming it into the back of his head she turned to Onidus who was wiping silent tears from his eyes.
"What the hell is so funny dog breath?"
"That performance, anyone could see how ridiculous it was from a mile away."
"Well you know what, it worked didn't it?"
"No, you had to pistol whip him in the end."
"Oh shut up flea bag."
"You know, your insults, they are quite childish, not to mention old."
Anue turned on him and stuck out her tongue.
"Yeah well, at least I don't drink from a toilet."
"Neither do I."
Anue huffed and took the heels off her feet and pulled a pair of jeans out of the small bad on Onidus' back, slipping them on under the skirt she had on she threw the article of clothing into the bad and looked at Onidus.
"You ready Oni?"
"What could possible go wrong? I have the most childish demon at my side who can only come up with mediocre insults."
"Alright you four legged homosapian, let's just get this over with. The room above her's is said to be empty for some reason, I say we check that out first, set up our servaliance and report back to Rayne."
Onidus nodded seeing she was serious now. Scaling the building was no problem, getting into the empty room was no hassle either, but once there both canines wanted to throw themselves out the window. Anue's eyes watered from the smell and Onidus looked as if he wanted to vomit.
"What the hell is that? It smells like decaying possum on a hot summer day on black top."
Onidus rolled his eyes.
"Wonderful visual, but I must agree it is most foul."
Anue walked through the dark hotel room, she could hear their target below them pitching a hissy fit about bottled water or something like that, looking at the walls Anue could see that they were dark and dingy, covered in grim and dirt and something that resembled blood. Shaking her head Anue pulled out her phone, took a picture and sent it to Rayne for his input. A few moments later it vibrated in her hand. Flipping it open she heard Rayne's voice filter through.
"Looks like a feeding room of some kind, watch your step, set up your stuff and get back to your own room. Call me if anything goes wrong."
Anue flipped the phone shut as the line went dead and whispered back to Onidus.
"Rayne says to watch our step, get our stuff put together and get out asap."
Oni nodded and walked the other direction as Anue turned her foot tapped something heavy and solid, shining her phone towards it to get enough light to see she felt a scream bubble up from her throat, there at her feet was a middle aged man, his face frozen in an expression of fear and pain. His torso was ripped open exposing his organs which were gone, laying about the floor around him, some torn open and eaten, others whole and drying like jerky in the sun. She could see his spine and rib bones clearly, the pearly white glaring in the light of her phone. Hearing the small whine coming from Anue Onidus turned and clamped a hand on her mouth as she took deep breaths trying to steady her nerves. After a few seconds she nodded and Onidus took his head from her mouth.
"Thanks, lets just get this done so we can get out of here, this ***** is sick....not only that I think I'm gonna puke."
He nodded and both worked quickly to get their mics and cameras set up in the 'feeding' room and in the light fixtures of the singers room directly below them as well.

Tahlia watched TV until Ken showed up about an hour later. Rayne immediately let him in on the plan, and Tahlia had to hand it to him, he was quite the salesperson. In all actuality, Tahlia was quite nervous. This singer was a shikabane, correct? Just who had covered up her death and the deaths of those she's killed? Rayne's cell phone went off, and he answered it. He pressed a button on his laptop, and then pressed some buttons on the TV remote. A dark room appeared on the screen, showing Anue and Onidus. In the room itself, there was plenty of gore and a few shredded bodies. "A feeding room..." Tahlia gasped.

"I doubt she actually eats in there, but yes." Tahlia looked at the screen, and noted the presence of a grand black glossed piano, strangely free of blood and gore. Kun Oksaki was infamous for it. It wasn't long after Anue and Onidus cleared out of the room that several burly men in suits and ties entered the room, and began to scrub the room clean and throw the body parts into bags. "Well... I suppose we know who's keeping our little monster a secret..." Tahlia snorted.

Rayne's eyebrow twitched as he started clicking on the footage, highlighting faces and enlarging them. Many of them wore shades, though they were catching glimpses of tattoos and piercings that might give a clue as to just who these people actually were. "So... who do you think these people are?"

"Mafia... or maybe Yakuza. She is Japanese after all." Rayne crossed his arms, and exhaled a breath. "In all honesty, we just don't know right now. However, after running a facial recognition program we might get a clue." They watched as they cleaned the room to perfection and then left.

A short while later the door opened into the room, and Tahlia could see very well a female figure step in. She moved over to the windows, and pulled the blinds. Following her was a rather youthful man, Tahlia recognized the man as Kun Osaki's manager when she pulled the blinds. "It's a pretty morning, don't you think?" Kun laughed, and sat down at the piano. "Kun, you'll be getting a new assistant today. Try not to-"

"Try not to what?" Kun asked, her voice dark and strangely hollow. "N-nothing." The man stammered, and smiled. "She'll be here later today."

"Great! I love meeting new people. It's not often I can. Now, I need to practice for my concert. I'm sure the new assistant will love to hear it."

"Of course, Kun. I'll leave you to it now." With that he left the room, and Kun sat at the piano to play it. There she sat, perfectly content to play and sing. Her voice rang like the chimes of the pearly gates, though there was something just off about it. It gave Tahlia the chills, just listening to her. Maybe it was the fact she knew the person on the screen was dead. After about an hour, it was time for them to move out themselves. Rayne plicked two sets of keys from the wall and tossed one to Ken. "Pretty classic downstairs. Light blue in color. Only one like it on the third floor of the parking deck. Tahlia, you're with him. I don't care where you two position yourselves, just be ready to move at a moments notice. Ren, you're with me. Let's move."

Ren got up from the couch she was sitting on. Her sandwich was untouched. It was really more for show than anything. She had the ability to eat normal food, like any human form Shikabane, but she often chose not to since she didn't even need it anymore. It was just a habit from her old life more than anything. She looked over at Rayne and nodded. As he left out the door, she followed and got into the car. It wasn't a long ride to Kun Osaki's hideout, but it wasn't a short one either. This seemed like a good of a time as any to talk to Rayne one on one. She mostly asked about the target, what her powers might be, when she could have died, things like that. But then she just came out and said it.

"Rayne, some of us might have trouble with this mission. It won't be as bad as those three kids that we had to take care of but some of us might have trouble actually killing Kun Osaki too." She said, just leaving that fact hanging there for him to comment on. He just gave her a look that let her know he already realized that.

With that, Ren went silent again until they got there. Then, she spoke up again.
"Should we split up? I'm sure you could get up to the top of the building without carrying me. Besides, with my hair I should be able to unlock most of the doors without setting off an alarm." Ren asked, not sure what the battle plan was.

"I wonder if Tahlia and Ken are here already." She said, thinking out loud while looking at the building they had to breach.
