Magus
I'm curious if anyone got their hands on the newer consoles, and what do you think about them? With the Xbox 1 having a version without the Kinect I'm thinking about getting one simply due to Halo: Master Chief Collection (Too bad Reach is not getting any love) and it's cheaper than a PS4 (which I still plan to get). Is there anything you do/don't like about the consoles? I'm very curious because I haven't heard any news on any of the consoles since E3 and now that games are finally starting to come out have opinions changed? CaNz
Between all my roommates I have gotten to play all three main consoles. I found both the xbone and the ps4 had very few games that I cared about... and none of them are exclusive titles. I feel steam is a cheaper alternative, or stick with a ps3/360. Wii U on the other hand has tons of games you can't play elsewhere, the tablit controler has its uses, and the graphics compared to the wii are fantastic. I also love my 3ds so I think nintendo is doing great. Oh, I wonder if halo master chief collection is functional yet... I honestly just gave up. Magus
Hmm... I think what I was going for here (still am) was if people had any problems with the actual consoles. Game wise, I know the PS4 have quite a few games I'm looking forward to. On the other hand, XBox's controller is just comfortable in my hands (finding this out after playing USF4 and Mass Effect on the 360). Outside of both XBL and PSN getting hacked, I haven't heard too much when it comes to the hardware (So I'm assuming everything is all good). For the XB1 I think I heard the installation takes forever. I'm getting rid of a lot of clutter and looking to update as well.
CaNz
I think both the Wii U and the PS4 look sleek and function well. I kinda like the ps3 better, but in general ps4 is great. It doesn't seem like they changed much but PS4 has a far more comfortable controller now. I still think you can sub it out for a nice computer, but PS4 is very nice. XBONE is kinda bulky and odd looking compared to the other two (and 360slim) I am sure they will update it but its not too great. The controler does feel better than 360's but its minimal. The ones without kennect also look better, but not by much.
James
I don't have an Xbox One, but I do have a PS4 and a Wii U.I'm absolutely loving the PS4. It's cheap as hell, frankly, at least compared with where the PS3 was at roughly the same point in its lifespan. The game library is starting to build up, PlayStation Plus is a great deal, and I really love a lot of the little details; Sony finally nailed the controller design (it took them long enough!), and the built-in sharing capabilities are absolutely brilliant. The Twitch integration alone is fantastic. My current favourite games on PS4 are Dragon Age: Inquisition (it's absolutely gorgeous), Wolfenstein: The New Order, and Destiny. In terms of Wii U, it's an interesting one. In the first few months of life, it was really gathering dust at my place. But in the last 6 months or so, it just exploded. Nintendo has delivered hit after hit, and the value proposition of buying the thing is starting to make sense now where it didn't before. Even games like Zombi U are really interesting and worth playing, despite the stupid name. Actually, Zombi U is one of the most unique games I've played in years and it's definitely not the type of experience that you can get elsewhere. And then you've got titles like the new Zelda coming up, which looks great. There's lots of really solid content there now, and a few key OS updates from Nintendo that make a big difference to the overall experience.I think you can't go wrong with a current gen console. I can't speak for Xbox One, but I think Microsoft are doing a lot of work to improve things there. Whichever way you go I think you'll be fairly happy. Yeah, just from reading/listening to opinions from ign, gametrailers, etc.. I agree with this as well, which actually made this a lot tougher than it should've been. Japan
I only tried the Wii U myself and I have to say it is pretty nifty. I really enjoy the new Mario Kart and that is saying something because I haven't enjoyed a Mario Kart game since it's N64 days. I sat down to play and before I know it, 3-4 hours have passed. It's really enjoyable!
James
Yeah, the Wii U is emerging as a pretty significant console in its own right as the game library grows. Having said that, I'm spending most of my time on Xbox 360 and PS4 lately. I'm now on my second play through of Dragon Age: Inquisition - and wow, even the second time 'round, it's absolutely amazing. I love it. :P
