Allamorph
This thread is very straightforward. Post your toys. For instance, I have a new toy. It is a Benchmade 810 Contego. Four inch blade, nine and a quarter inch total length. A nice, comfortable six ounces. Ambidextrous AXIS locking mechanism, smooth opening/closing action (pull lever, flick wrist). My blade is has the BK-1 matte black coating for corrosion resistance.. Hilt has a carbide glass breaker on the end.It is a good stabby thing and is sharp and pointy and I like it. It's much better than my SOG Salute, which I also like but which apparently has issues with the tip breaking, and which definitely has issues with the belt clip metal toughness.I am starting to have a lot of knives....TOY POSTING GO Edited May 30, 2016 by Allamorph
CaNz
I want a new stabby pointy thing, but I am apparently terrible at taking care of poket knifes. My last one was accidentally put in a dish washer and never opened right again. I didn't throw it away, but I have no idea where it is now, and its not with any of my things. I don't have any new toys yet, but my favorite toy is my Creative Zen X-Fi Style Mp3 player (yes I still use an MP3 player.) It can play pretty much any unprotected audio file, and it uses a USB to USB2 cable so I can easily plug it into any computer and steal their music ^~^ It makes it easy for me to listen to my friends songs, and I also have a couple anime shows to watch on it if I am bored. I walk a lot... so this device gets used all the time... even right now.
James
What do you use your pocketknife for? I've always been curious about why people carry around pocketknives (unless you're doing a lot of outdoorsy things). My most recent toy is probably my PS4. I'm absolutely loving it, especially Dragon Age: Inquisition!
Allamorph
Pocketknives serve a variety of purposes, especially in a shipyard environment. Since the civilians have a lot of temporary systems rigged up throughout our boat and apparently don't care where it goes so long as it's 'up', I spend a lot of time on watch cutting tie lines and retying clusters of cables to maintain a clean-looking overhead stowage, which also allows all of us more headroom when walking around the sub. Having a pocketknife on my belt is much faster at cutting things down than taking out my diggit and working at flipping out the blade on it.They're also extremely useful at opening packages, declaring posted signs obsolete, stabbing things what ought not be where they are currently, and threatening people who are trying to fuck with your shit.Fun fact: My Benchmade will go through an inch of hardback-bound college rule green notebook. It will go through you.=)

CaNz
I just hate tape on boxes. I would carry around a knife just so I don't have to deal with trying to pry em open with my hands and nails.
Japan
My boyfriend has a utility knife kit thing and uses it all the time. You would be surprised how useful it is. My latest major purchase that I have made would be this baby. I really love this thing. Makes it handy to make cosplay and other things.
Allamorph
Opening taped boxes is easy. Slit the tape across the top, between the flaps, with the side of your fingernail. Then yank up on the flaps. The tape has a fairly low tensile strength and will snap with only a minor exertion of force. I do it all the time.Paper tape or security shipping tape isn't quite so simple. Those are usually reinforced with some sort of twine, which makes the slitting somewhat iffy, depending on if the twine runs horizontal or slanted, and the yanking about impossible. CaNz
I usually just use my pen to slit the sides if I have one, but I don't always have fingernails to work with. Restaurants are picky about those.
Allamorph
They're only picky if they're a) horribly untrimmed or b) no longer attached to you.
Petie
b) no longer attached to you. I'm not an expert by any means but I'm pretty sure this is kind of a big one.

Japan
Whoooooa, Alla those are sweet! I don't have anything that fancy mouse wise but I DO have a Logitech K800 keyboard that is similar to a laptop keyboard without the removeable keys and they light up too. It's pretty handy at night. Allamorph
I'm sort of curious about the timing of the release of the Apple watch and the Samsung watch, myself. That being said, they are really cool pieces of tech, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't want one. Just a little more pushing and we might actually get holos. [/nerd] Edited May 13, 2015 by Allamorph
Allamorph
I have another new toy. Would you like to guess what it is? I'll give you a hint: it's definitely not a knife. Give up?...all right, I lied. It's a knife. Ho ho. Ta-da!!!! Edit: Hand added for scale. Edited October 30, 2015 by Allamorph
Syk3
It's an Apple Watch: http://www.apple.com/watch/You took my idea! haha Except mine is not an Apple Watch, it's an Android Wear watch (still waiting for someone to ask me if it's an Apple Watch, apparently people with other smartwatches get asked that all the time >.<).Specifically this is a Motorola Moto 360 Sport that I got last week. The Moto 360 has been around since last year, but I've been waiting at least a year and a half for them to release an Android Wear watch with both continuous heart-rate monitoring and GPS. That way I have all the necessary hardware to just strap it on my wrist and go for a run while listening to pre-loaded music via my Bluetooth headset. I've started loading all sorts of helpful third party apps as well, including one to track my sleep via movements and heart rate. And I'm really excited to eventually use it for interval training on my runs to practice getting my heart rate up really high and then back down to lower resting heart rate, as well as for systematically tracking increasingly further runs to prepare for races. :D Edited January 18, 2016 by Syk3
James
How are you liking it so far? I'm still (impatiently) waiting for mine. It's great, although I only use it for a few features. Mostly, it's good for meeting notifications and things like that - I find it very useful for work stuff. :-)
Allamorph
I sort of wish there was a Siri app on the watches that was overly nosy and kind of turned on its VOX at random inopportune intervals and provided sassy rejoinders and/or snide commentary to things that you happened to be saying at the time.I think it would go over great in meetings.
