He saw 3 Metropods, 1 Windhyte and a small Quart.[/i] Rasanak: Hey you need some he-- wait a sec... that's Cloud and Treble! From the bar! Cloud: Treble, is that Rasanak down there? Ken + Chole: Who?! Treble: Looks like him... he's got himself a chocobo, eh? Karu: Who is Rasanak? Cloud: See, down there, that's Rasanak, we met him at a bar in the Metreon Caves... Cloud, I apologize if I left you out, but I find it VERY difficult to keep track of large groups. That's why I generally prefer it if there are two groups of characters having separate adventures in the same world...and if they only meet up once in a while. It's much easier to keep track of the storyline/s then.[/size] [i]Cloud, Treble, Ken, Chole and Karu were scratching their heads, looking at the rug.[/i] Karu: *sigh* Guess that's what we get for buying a cheapo rug... Treble: Hey Karu...where's your Chocobo?! Karu: Oh! I must have left him behind...I totally forgot! :( Chole: It's okay, he's probably just eating grass in the field where we left him. I'm sure he'll be fine. :) Karu: I hope so. :) Cloud: Hey, who are those guys over there? Karu: They look a little scary... [i]Rasnak, Sephiroth and Durumir were walking through the main gates of Solhara (if I've missed anyone, I apologize -- feel free to insert your character if I've missed them). Sephiroth was walking well behind the other two, with a fairly flat, indifferent look on his face. Rasnak was the first to make contact...[/i] Rasnak: Hey fellas...what happened here? Chole: We had a little flying carpet trouble... Rasnak: *laughs* Ah you Windhytes...never have any clue... [i]Chole scowled at Rasnak.[/i] Durumir: Nice to meet you. What are you guys doing here, anyway? Karu: We're looking for my parents' kidnappers. We thought that they might come to Solhara, since all the big gangs are centered here. Durumir: Ahh I see. Well, I know of someone who might be able to help you out. He lives in a warehouse toward the north of the city. It's a dangerous area though -- you'd best let us escort you. Treble: Hey! We can handle ourselves! Cloud: Yeah, what makes you think we need you guys? Durumir: Hah, you have no idea how dangerous Solhara can be. Especially in the Northern District. It's a terrible place. Lots of gang violence and even some monsters up there. Chole: It's okay, we'll follow you...we have no other way of finding the kidnappers anyway. Durumir: Well, the man I know is a Metropod who specializes in sidearms. But he's also a scientist -- he does all kinds of weird research. Everything from weaponry to health potions. He's a strange mix. But he's also very knowledgable -- he knows Terraforma inside out. He is sure to be able to help you find who you're looking for. Cloud: We don't want to impose... Durumir: No, no. It's fine. Once we've taken you there, we'll go our own way. We have some weapons to buy here before the Gun Festival finishes tomorrow. We should be able to get you there today; after that, you'll have to make your own way. Chole: Okay, sounds fair. [i]The group began to walk along the streets to Main Street and then further north to North District. [one of the gang members walks right in front of the group, facing sephiroth] man: well, I didn't think I would ever see YOUR azz again seph: ........... man: whats the matter? still can't talk? it doesn't matter sephiroth, after were done with you there won't be **** left, that'll teach ya to leave the gang [suddenly sephiroth's eyes became ten times more menacing than before, the man suddenly began to back a few steps, but stopped] man: I see you still do that eye trick thing to scare people, forget about it, it ain't gonna work, now how about after I beat your azz up, I go and pay your momma's grave a little visit? [sephiroth's arm suddenly came out of nowhere, grabbing the man by the throat, he held him up in the air, just gazing at him, anger quite apparent on his face, sephiroth raised his other arm and gave a huge punch to the man's face, sending him crashing to his other gang members who had not yet contemplated what had happened, sephiroth walked right over to them and stood in front of the man, and unsheathed his masamune] seph: .........nobody insults my mother theoden: well, I guess his mother was the red button to be continued.... The rest of the group decides to go back into the city to buy weapons and find somewhere to stay for the night. I will essentially take my part of the story forward and that will provide some room for others to decide what they want to do with their characters.[/size] [i]Karu looked up at Sephiroth. He was a tall, dark, menacing figure. Yet Karu didn't particularly feel uneasy around him -- he wasn't an adult and as such, perhaps he didn't think things through in the same way that adults did. What he saw was a stranger who wanted to join him, not someone who might want to kill him.[/i] Karu: Sure, you can come with me. I think you might be of help to us... Sephiroth: Make no mistake, I'm doing this for my own purposes... Chole: Okay, well...I'll go with the both of you. [i]Sephiroth eyed Chole for a moment and then turned back to Karu.[/i] Sephiroth: Do you want this guy to tag along? Karu: Chole came here with me on the magic carpet...yeah, I think he should come along with us. Sephiroth: Fine. You're in, Chole. [i]The three turned around to face the rest of the group.[/i] Chole: Hmm, I know that Treble and Cloud were eager to visit the Gun Festival before it finishes. You guys have a few hours left..why don't you browse the stalls there and find some good weapons for our journey? As for the rest of you...I don't know what you have planned. But we can take it from here. If you need to contact us, take this... Chole pulled out a small pocket communicator and gave it to Sabir. He also gave one to Rasnak and Treble. [/i] Chole: I hope that's enough. This way we can keep in contact just incase. Rasnak: Yeah, okay Chole. Good thinking. [i]And with that, the two groups departed. Chole, Sephiroth and Karu continued to walk north toward the large dome, while the others turned around and went on their own way. The three travellers finally came across the front of the large dome. It looked like the top half of a giant, metal egg sticking out of the ground. On its front was a gigantic door with a single button next to it. Chole walked up to the door and pushed the button. For a moment, nothing happened...when suddenly, a voice cracked from the intercom. It was an old man's voice...[/i] Old Man: [i]Yeah? Who's there?[/i] Chole: Uhh, we are here to talk to you...we need to find some kidnappers... Old Man:[i] Kidnappers? Wha? I haven't got time for kidnappers...[/i] Chole: Please let us in...we need advice! Old Man: [i]Nothing doing. I'm very busy! Goodbye![/i] [i]Chole scratched his head and shrugged.[/i] Chole: Wow, how rude... Sephiroth: And you're going to let him get away with that? Chole: Well what do you propose we do about it? Sephiroth: Oh, don't you worry...follow me...[i] Sephiroth walked around to the side of the building. Chole and Karu followed close behind, wondering what he had planned. Sephiroth gestured for the others to stand back. He unsheathed his Masumune (hope I spelled that right, lol) and lifted it up above his head. Just as he had lifted it up, he brought it crashing down against the wall of the giant dome. "CRRRAAACCKK!!" Karu and Chole could hear the loud sounds of metal being torn and when the dust cleared, they saw a huge, gaping hole in the side of the building. Sephiroth put his sword back and gave them a very slight, evil looking smile. [/i] Chole: Wow err...okay. Didn't expect that. Sephiroth: Sometimes people never listen....so you have to make them listen... [i]Chole and Karu stepped through the hole, followed by Sephiroth. As they entered the cavernous building, they could see all sorts of weird contraptions on the shelving around the walls. There was a row of potions which had all kinds of weird names; Dr. Florial's Magic Shrinking Elixir, Dr. Florial's Herb of Chocobo, Dr. Florial's Exploding Lemonade...the list went on. The three could also see large swords and machinery hanging against another wall. Dr. Florial was obviously a very talented scientist. As the group passed a large potions-making table, they saw a small room with an old, wooden door at the front, which read: [/i][b]DR. FLORIAL'S OFFICE -- KEEP OUT[/B][i] Just as Chole was about to knock, Sephiroth stepped forward and kicked the door down with a mighty thud. A small, old man inside spun around and held his hands up infront of his face in terror. Sephiroth lunged at him and lifted him up by the collar.[/i] Sephiroth: [b]Why didn't you let us in before? Didn't you hear that the boy was having problems? Are you deaf? Perhaps I need to clean out your ears with my sword...[/b] Dr. Florial: Noo...noo, please...d-don't hurt me!! [i]Chole stood beside Sephiroth and motioned for him to put the doctor down. Sephiroth reluctantly did so. Dr. Florial, shaking and unnerved stared at the trio for a moment. And what a strange trio: a tall, dark Falyore, a younger, shorter looking Metropod...and an even younger looking Quart.[/i] Chole: Please, doctor. We need your help. Dr. Florial: This is HARDLY the way to get my help, young man! Dr. Florial (looking at Seph): But ahh, under the circumstances...I don't see the problem. What do you need? Karu: My parents were kidnapped in Physar...and I don't know where they are...or who kidnapped them. Dr. Florial: Oh, I see. Hmm...I'm not sure if I can help you. There have been a lot of kidnappings going on lately...I really don't know what the problem is. Sephiroth: Well I suggest you think harder about it... Dr. Florial: There might be one explanation... Chole: Oh? Dr. Florial: Well, it's kind of hard to explain. You see, the world of Terraforma was formed by four Goddesses: Falyore, Physar, Solhara and Ephra. But there are rumors of a fifth Goddess. The Bible of the Four Goddesses talks of a fifth female...but says very little about her. There are rumors that the recent disturbances have something to do with a fifth Goddess. Karu, Chole & Sephiroth: A fifth Goddess?! Dr. Florial: Yes, a fifth Goddess. I know it sounds strange...I didn't believe it myself at first. But there is much compelling evidence to suggest that she may in fact be the cause of some of the world's problems. Karu: But how does this help me find my parents? Dr. Florial: Some of the fifth Goddesses' followers have been seen around here...and are rumored to have been engaging in kidnappings. I suspect that your parents might be wherever they are taking their victims. Karu: So where would that be? Dr. Florial: I honestly don't know. There is only one place I can imagine: The Castle of the Four Goddesses. It sits on the very northeast shelf of the Terraforma Continent. It's millions of years old -- it was the final structure which the Goddesses created upon their departure from the world, after they'd finished the act of Creation. I can only suspect that you may find answers there. Karu: Oh...well, okay...I guess we can go there then. Dr. Florial: Yes, but it is more than 10,000 miles away...you will need some sort of transportation. I suggest that you each hire a Chocobo from the nearest Bon Bon's Chocobo Ranch -- the one halfway between the Metreon Caves and Solhara City. Karu: Okay doctor, thank you. Dr. Florial: And since your quest relates to the research I'm doing...take this personal communicator with you. You'll be able to reach me and receive advice from me if you ever need it. Good luck! Chole: Thank you, doctor. We'll be sure to contact you if we need it. [i]Sephiroth gave the doctor one final, icy stare as the three made their way out of the large dome. As they came closer, they noticed -- to their surprise -- that the gates were closed. The front gates of Solhara consisted of two gigantic metal doors. The doors were engraved on either side with the words "WELCOME TO SOLHARA CITY" in giant, capital letters. Thre trio soon noticed that there were at least ten Solhara City police gathered around the entryway, in front of the door. The police were talking excitedly; one was talking in a loud voice to the others and waving his batton in the air as he spoke...[/i] Cop: You should have seen it! What a terrible sight...even a police officer shouldn't be witness to such a tragedy! Cop2: You saw it?! What happened?! [i]The first officer lowered his batton, took his helmet off and held it over his chest.[/i] Cop: The poor guy...he was in pieces all over the ground...we had to get a special team in to clean up the remains... Cop2: Did you see who or what killed him? Cop: No, it was too late by then. Rumor has it that a great big beast was seen in the area...but I have no more information. [i]Chole, Karu and Sephiroth approached the officer. He turned around and looked at them with a melancholy expression...[/i] Cop: Yes? Chole: Excuse me but...we need to get out. We're heading for the nearest Chocobo Ranch. Cop: Oh...erm, well, you see...I'm afraid we can't allow anyone to leave Solhara City at the current time. Chole: Why not? Cop: There was a terrible murder near the front gates only an hour ago...and the Mayor ordered the gates closed pending an investigation into the matter. Chole: Oh great...so we're stuck here? Cop: Yes, for the time being you're stuck here. Don't worry, there's plenty to do in Solhara City... Karu: You can't be serious! We have to go! It's important! Cop: I'm really sorry, but the safety of the people of Solhara City must come first. We simply can't open these gates at the present time...the number of monsters in the field to the north is growing by the day. Even the trade route between the Metreon Caves and Solhara City has been officially closed -- first time in history that's been done. [i]Chole and Karu looked at each other. Sephiroth didn't seem particularly phased by what had happened, he was busy adjusting his cloak.[/i] Chole: Phew, okay...can we see the Mayor then? Cop: You can try. I don't know if he'll see you. He's been very busy lately. Chole: Alright, well...thanks for your help I guess... [i]The officer took out a handkerchief and blew his nose. He nodded to the trio and doubled back to tell his tale to a fresh group of police who were arriving on the scene. Chole, Karu and Sephiroth decided between themselves that it would be best to stay in a hotel for tonight. In the morning, they'd go to the Mayor's office and see if they could find a way of leaving the city. Though none of them were particularly hopeful. Sephiroth frequently interjected their discussions, offering to force the huge gates of Solhara City open, only to have Chole remind him how incredibly large and heavy they were -- not to mention that they were protected by motion-censor laser cannons and guard turrets. That night, Karu sat on his bed wide awake and looked out the window of his hotel room. Despite being 3am in the morning, the streets below were still incredibly busy. The Annual Gun Festival was due to finish at 6am -- no doubt the people below were trying to find anything they'd missed on the days prior. The many tall, glass buildings on either side of Main Street glittered with bright neon signs, offering everything from "XXX Girls Here" to "50% Discount on Plastic Surgery". Most of the buildings in the city were dotted with lit-up windows; the entire city looked like a chessboard of on-and-off lights in windows. It was an incredible sight for Karu, who had never been in a big city until the last few days. Despite the size of most of the city's skyscrapers (some were more than 150 stories high), there was one, huge tower in the very center of the city. It looked somewhat like a curvy vase -- it was completely symmetrical and covered in glass. At the very top of the tower was a slightly smaller tower with a post on top, which carried an enormous flag of Solhara City. The smaller tower at the top was no doubt where the Mayor's office was located. Surrounding the upper-most tower were huge spotlights, which slowly moved their way around the buildings in the city below. There must have been at least 20 of these lights. Their slow movement created shadows which seemed to creep between skyscrapers. Sometimes the shadows looked scary to Karu...like monsters he'd seen in his dreams. But he felt comforted by the lights also -- they made it seem as if monsters had nowhere to hide. Just as he pondered the strange lights, one of them swept past his open window and filled his hotel room with brilliant white light for just a moment. Karu rubbed his eyes and just as he did so, the light had passed and was now annoying the occupants in another building. Karu lay down under his covers and drifted off to sleep. [i]Rasanak took the broken hilt and stabbed it into the last gang members stomach, then took the chain off of him and swung it into his head. Rasanak picked up the broken peices of dagger and pocketed them.[/i] Cloud: Damn, can't we go anywhere in Solhara without getting killed?! Rasanak: You used to be able to, but things have changed since I was last here. Ken: Nah, its always been like this for me here. This area is pretty rough anywhere, we should move quicker into the main square and my weapon! Treble: Come on then, let's go! Rasanak: Ahh, a new weapon. Excellent! Rasanak: Oh yeah you're right,I remember when the dagger snapped when I was fighting one of the gang members. Ken: Don't worry we might even find a better one at the Annual Gun Festival it got tons of selection to choose from.:) Cloud: Yeah I remember seeing all types of great weapons there hopefully you will find yourself a better one. Rasanak: Really? Guess you're right then guys,come on lets gets go to the Annual Gun Festival I don't wanna be late on the last day now. Treble: Heh I've grewn up in Solhara I know a shortcut to get there faster. Ken: Oh yeah the shortcut I didn't know it still exist,good thinking Treble. Treble: Yeah it that great ol' shortcut still does exist,come on guys it over that way. Cloud: We better hurry it's gonna end early in the morning.
