Getting Made Fun of at school for watching DBZ? If so how do you feel about it?

People don't really care,where I go to school.It's like,"you don't play basketball, You don't play baseball, you don't hang with us." That's basically the attitude of half the people at my school. The other half just forms seperate groups. Heck I wear my DBZ shirts once a week. But still even at my school some people seem to think DB/Z/GT is a show for little kids. Well I suppose you can't please everyone....

I know, I just refrain from talking anime to anyone. I did get on of my best friends to watch anime Gundam W mostly but she didn't mind me talking about it. There were about two "in" kids who liked it, tho one's off it now. I don't talk about it but if I do I use codes like Japanese words like Shenlong for Dragon Ball, Mecha for Gundam, Jurai/ Cabbit for Tenchi, Visions for Escaflowne, Digital for Digimon, Card for Cardcaptors and stuff like that. We use nic names for characters like Veggie for Vegeta and Shinigmai for Duo from GW. Codes work well, specially when I wirte about them.

I have a friend who really gets teased because of it so I don't dare

Well.. I usta get made fun of in school because all I did was draw DBZ.But I proved that DBZ is better than the so Pokemon(thats what they watch instead of DBZ).Because of that I HAD to draw a picture of Vegita blasting Pikachu's head off(I'm am not showing any hatred to any other fan of Pokemon)When I fininshed I showed them.oh um.Well... thats the end of it.:devil:

I hear all these nerds hanging around school talking about DBZ and Final Fantasy and all that crap, talking about stuff in DBZ that they don't even know about!! Making up stuff, and telling their Nerdy little friends about it, pretending they're like the DBZ master or something... Or Talking all this Random mofo about FF... It's these Puny-little-loners that give Anime fans like us a bad name...

Personally though, I don't really talk about DBZ at school. Yeah, I talk about it sometimes, but I don't have huge conversations about it or nothin'. I just don't really care, s'all.

i can still call them my friends because i respect the fact that when they see anime, they think cartoon. and when most ppl think cartoon, they think kids 12 and under. im able to respect that logic (if thats what 1 calls it). Its basically the thing of, "hey buddy, you're 14, time to grow up", but i feel that the anime i watch is fine for my age. i mean, a "cartoon" that swears and puts blood all over the place should be ranked right up in there with all the "cool-to-watch" shows.

Anime in my opinion is a show mainly aimed at viewers over 11 and is really just an animated form of your normal tv shows (Sci-fi, Action, Comedy etc.) I get teased a lot about liking anime and I have to keep a low profile. Inside me I always keep my huge fandom of anime bottled up just to avoid kids laughing at me. 2 of my friends are the only people who really enjoy anime, in fact my friend once burst out to one of his friends (who was saying anime was just sh**.) that Dragon Ball Z was good and that it wasn't for gay tossers. Once I got surrounded by some so called friends who teased me about Dragon Ball Z but a teacher saw and called the off. Now my friends and I just keep very quiet about our anime liking lifestyle.

at my school, if any one knew i liked animes id get teased for life. its bad enough that some people who i've been in school with for a while still dont know my name, i only have one friend who likes animes as much as me( he got me into it) and we cant say anything, even my older cousin bugs me about it:( oh well at least im not a trend following snob clone drone:)

Ugh! I hate those types of people! They always think they're so cool :cool: because they do what everybody else does. I like being different. Its like this sometimes at school

YOU watch DragonballZ? That show is lame!-Someone whose name I won't mention.

hey guys and gals this is hank jr and i am here to say you should think about what you like. if you like dbz. you should not let other people put you down because of it. when i was in high school i use to be picked on by almost everyone. because my brother was like the star football player. but hey its no biggy. i learned that it really doesn't matter what other people think of you its what you think of yourself. and if you like to watch anime. dont be afraid to talk about it. who knows you might find a few others who likes it to and then you would be able to be around people who knows how ya feel.

There will never come a time when cartoons are just "2 immature" 4 our age. They are meant for enjoyment, and i have never heard ne1 say that u r 2 old 2 have fun. So if they start bashing our cartoons, screw'em

just because a movie/show/anime has swearing or blood, it doesn't make it a good, or 'cool-to-watch' show. krap, if you put swearing and blood into Teletubbies, it's still gonna suk, isn't it? it almost always depends on the plot/story of what you're watching. if you put swearing into Teletubbies, they'll still do nothing but run around and laugh incessantly at each other the entire time. sounds like a great show, doesn't it? *:sleep:* but shows like DB/Z/GT and Gundam, and (most) other animes usually have good stories to use, the swearing/violence/nudity/etc. is usually extra (ex: you can take the swearing out of a show, and it'll still be good). unless you watch the show only to see the adult content to feel 'grown-up', but that's just stupid....

I agree. you should be able to talk about and wear what you want without getting ragged on, as long as it's not offensive to anyone (ex: if you wear a shirt to school that says "KILL ALL JEWS!", you [i]deserve[/i] to get jumped.)
so you keep on wearin' your DBZ shirts and drawin' your pics, and bulk up a bit so no one'll mess with ya:D

Thats not true, not everyone is as umm... brash as you and actually care what others think. The best advice would be to ignore them but I would also suggest a big dog to protect you.
