Conventions Anyone?

Ahh yes, the good ole' con. Whether it be Anime, Sci-FI, Comic, yadda yadda....

I ventured my way to Megacon today. It's a fairly popular con in the US, held right here in Orlando Florida. It had pretty much everything.... Sci-fi to anime to comics, then back again.

They had a ton of people there... Kevin Smith (Silent Bob, director of Dogma, Chasing Amy, etc etc) Al Snow, and just tons of artists and other Sci-Fi TV Stars.

This was my second year going, and I had an absolute blast.

I actually saw alot of people I knew this year, as opposed to last year where I saw no one... anyway... went with my friends, met some friends, and hung out and had fun.

My friend did cosplay... which I refuse to do unless I'm going to be the best dressed one... he went as someone from Digi Charat.... there were some awesome cosplayers there... Vash, from Trigun, seemed to be a more popular choice this year, as opposed to last, which was Sailor Moon for the most part. They had a few Boba Fets from Star Wars, but the majority were anime costumes ranging from Kenshin to Inuu Yasha and whatever people could pull off. However the BEST one there was this boy dressed as GACKT! WAI! As soon as I saw him I took his picture lol. He was the only Gackt there... -__- which just prooves people have no tastes lol. There were like 4 other J-Rockers... but who cares... hehe. I'm thinking about going next year as Gackt... Anyway, I bought a few things. SInce I don't watch anime anymore (today was the first time I actually sat down to watch some, which was the 5th episodes of FLCL and a new OAV out called Memories Off) since I don't watch anime much anymore, I bought J-Music stuff lol. And yes, 2 of the 3 things I bought were Gackt :) One of his concerts and a Photobook.. the other was Dir en grey :)

So, to the point. Who has gone to Conventions, no matter what kind? Which one? Did you cosplay? And what did you get, if you remember?

Ok, Off now I go to finish english paper!

[color=navy][size=1] Umm..i'm not the biggest fan of conventions....any of the good ones are usually overcrowded and too loud to learn anything. Besides, if it's something big like E3, I can just go on the net and find out about it the day after. Plus on top of that, no convention ever comes my way anyway.[/color][/size]

EnderCon is going to be July 5-6 in Orem, Utah! *sobs* Nothing good ever comes to Hawaii. We have small anime 'gatherings' but I don't know where and when so I can't attend them. If I were to go to an Anime Convention I'd be Chun Li.

thats ok. I'm gonna try and go inter-state sometime with my friends, don't know where to just wasnt to get out of sa... the only place I go with my parents it the show and to shopping malls on the weekends... but all in all I wanna go to alot of conventions this year

I was going to go with a guy friend this year but I'm glad I'm not going with HIM...but anyway....so yeah, I would cosplay. I have a good friend who cosplays and she makes her own outfits and scrounges the internet for wigs and items to finish her outfits. I think her cutest was Ruri from Nadesico. Maybe I can get some pics from her and post them on here.[/color][/size]

I'm pretty sure that there are cons held in Chicago, but my problem is that I have no one to go with me. I'd like to have someone with me, especially since I've never been to one.

[COLOR=darkblue]I've been to wondercon in San Jose, CA...it's a few miles off where I live. No one in my group cosplayed the day we went...it was fun. I just bought a few manga comics for my friend (who gave me the money) and I bought myself a few t-shirts and wallscrolls.[/COLOR]

Well as a matter of fact i just put in my pre signs for Anime-Expo 2k2 and Comic-con 2k2.
Anime expo is being held in long beach again this year and looks to be as good as it was last year.they will be debuting 18 new animes over the weekend along with multiple mangas.this is the anime event to go to.Every major company in the buisness sends a table its awesome.
Comic-con is well tons of comics go figure they are showing 4 animes that i know of and will have the artists expo again this year including sessions with manga and comic artists discussing your work.it wil be held in sandiego and looks to be alot of fun as well.

deciding between the 2 was tuff my fiance said lets go to cmoic con again and i said lets go to anime expo in the end we decided to go to both to save alot of head aches. only problem i have is the 16 hour drive to l.a. from here yuck...

anyway i hope to see some of you there i will go as good ol tuxedo mask{the costume is easy}yet again see you there...

I went to a toy convention once, I was really cool, they had all kinds of imports from japan and some of the statuets were GORGEOUS! the guy I talked to though was a bit over the edge, he was worse than some otaku's here......:laugh:
