kizu
For the longest time there have been very few Rpgs that I have heard of for a nintendo console. There are a large amount for the Gameboy but not for the Cube, or the 64. The best Rpg I found for 64 was Paper Mario. I think it would be nice to see someone use the Gamecube graphics with an rpg. I can't wait til that.

James
The only RPGs I know of for GameCube are Rune (complex card-based RPG), Magic Mountain/Mystical Mountain (I forget the name) and there is a third RPG by a smaller Japanese developer...but once again, I can't remember the name. There is also the rumored Golden Sun RPG for GameCube...which we may hear about at E3 in May.
Break
Ah, there were a few for the N64, but they mostly only came out in Japan. Ogre Battle Warrior (I think) was one... or maybe it was tactics... I forget.
Guest Solid Snake
I believe that you are basing this conclusion on the comparison of other systems. It may not be that there is a shortage of RPGs for Nintendo, but more so that the Sony Playstations are known to carry a significant amount, such as the Final Fantasys. However, we cannot specify what "normal" means, in many cases, as to how many RPGs a system should carry. We will have to see how the XBox plays out in terms of their RPG count, and conlude as to whether the PS2 has too many, or the GCN doesn't have enough. :blah:
RicoTranzrig
That's probably one of the main reasons why I didn't really switch to N64 after SNES. The RPG's were all going to the PSX because of the huge CD format at the time. Right now I'm really anticipating the arrival of new RPG's for the GCN and PS2...especially when they start employing dual layer DVD's.
Guest Matt
paper mario sucked bad. i think the best rpg for n64 was The Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time. Majora's Mask really sucked.
RicoTranzrig
It wasn't that bad...if you want a bad RPG for the 64 console...Quest 64...but I guess it was allowed to be bad since it was the first attempt at an RPG for the system...well, I guess the 64 wans't in RPGs...

Guest Shift
Paper Mario was good but, inApril there be the Dragon Ball Z The Lagacy of Goku, it will be an RPG...Plus it's counterpart for the GCN will be out in the beginning of next year...

Treble
Heh Paper Mario may look different from all other games, but its paperlicious style. At first I thought it might turn out to be an average game, but once I rented the game I must have played one of the bestest RPG game ever kinda short but loads of fun. I loved the feature where through out the game you had to collect "badges" as they add on a special affect to weapons. And the great partners that joins you on your quest to help Mario out. If you don't play this game then you'll miss out on one of Mario's greatest adventure yet,of course this is my personal opinion.:toothy:
Sephiroth
there were loads of rpg's for the n64, the only problem was that they were only ever released in japan, bah.... the snes also had a ton of rpg's, secret of mana, anyone? GC should have a lot of rpg's in the future, thats what I'm hoping anyway....
Kuja
yes nintendo was the system i remember having RPGs on... not the sega systems... but when square went to sony nintendo lost like a bazzilion series: FF, BoF, Secret of _____, and one other that was big on the snes. This in turn caused a bunch of game makers to jump ship... sadly not many have come back :(

Knowledge of games is another. ;) Paper Mario is pretty much on par with other N64 titles. It's very easy to mistake the game for a SNES game in screenshots (as SS pointed out)...but if you play it, you'll notice that it goes beyond visuals (even though the visuals are quite nice in some areas).
Desbreko
Yeah, some of the landscapes look pretty cool... And then it just seems really weird to have 2D paper cut-outs for characters... :cross: I like the effect that's used when you enter a building and its front wall "falls over" so you can see what's inside. I just thought that was a really neat effect... I'm not even really sure why I like it, though, Lol.
bignatedawg
Paper Mario was one of the best RPGs i'v ever played. if any game can get me to play for 12 hours strait its good in my book.
kizu
Yes I can't wait till there are more games on the GC. I remember reading in a magazine that a game called I think Skies of Arcada. And according to one of my friends that game is really good. I can't wait for that to come to GC. I hope a lot of Rpgs come to the GC. They give me the most entertainment. I don't consider the Zelda to be a rpg either. I thik of it as adventure.
Angelus_Necare
I have a neat RPG game for the N64 that didn't get mutch spotlight, it's called Aydin Chronichles. you're a squire poisened by chaos and you go on a quest with four comrades and fight monsters and stuff. Game play is a little different than the normal N64 games. in this game you go into a combat mode and you, your comrades and the monsters take turns beating the crap out of each other. Then when you're done you divy up the Xp points and eventualy gain levels. yet the game is painstakingly long and you have to save you progress on memory cartreges, wich I might add if the cartrege gets damaged, that Ten hour quest you were on is lost. so my advice? If you see this game buy it, play it, Then DESTROY IT!!!!!
kizu
That sounds like a pretty good game. I rememebr seeing ads for it in NP. But I don't recall them doing an indept spotlight on it.
