Ok, here's the problem:

We live about 20km out of town (that's about 13 miles or so), on a propert. There 2 other people who live near us, but they're on holidays. The closest people to us, apart from them, is the town.

Lately there's been this old brown car driving up and down the road that we live on. Usually at around 11PM to 4AM. It just drives up and down, slowly. Lately, it's been driving up and down more regularly, like every night. Before it was just once or twice a week. We've called the police, and the local SAHC (Support And Help Centre). The police said "Sorry, we can't help you unless we've got proof frm one of your neighbours. Now since our neighbours are on holidays, the police are hopeless. The SAHC said something similar. So they can't help us either.

Dad's usually home, but mum doesn't know about it yet. She's in the capital city for work. Dad has his riffle ready (he has a permit) to scare them off if they arrive at our house, he thinks they're looking for empty houses to rob, iff they haven't already robbed our neighbours houses. They've stopped outside our property a few times, and waited there. Dad keeps the living room light on and watches T.V. so they think we're not asleep.

What exactly are we supposed to do? The police won't help, and the local community thingie on't help either. They all need proof. What to do....

Do you have a camera? or a video camera?... use them wisely... show them to the police afterward.... if you feel legitamatly threatened, they SHOULD do something... when the car comes by at that time a night, you dial 911 and/or the police and tell them to come see for theirselves.... but if you have a camera or video camera... use them

If nothing else, make sure you have some sort of protection handy.... they may just be after your neighbors... usually buglars don't hit houses when they know the ones next to them are unoccupied....

I'm not sure about Austrailian law, but here, if they step a foot inside your house without your permission(Thus them gaining forced entry), you can bust a cap in 'em. I seriously would. If you feel threated, keep some sort of item with you. But if they step into your house, then you have the right to defend yourself. Here at least. I don't know of Aussie law.

But I do know this.

If you are worried about these people, listen to TN, and CALL THE POLICE. Cops' motto is "To Serve And Protect". If you feel threatened, then their job is it protect you. So, if they come too close for comfort,....*picks up phone, hands it to Josh*....You know what to do..:)

Hmmmmm.... Like as TN said if you have a camara or Video camara use it wisely, but I have another suggestion: If you can find out where he lives, then you could like drive up and down his road and then someone could stay at the house. Or you could throw a rock a needle or something out in the road, that'll make him quit.

Ok I have one last suggestion just don't worry about him intill you hear like creaky noises in your house and then have everebody have a Gun by there side and if he trys to shoot our you see him then make him pay.

don't do anything hasty like attacking them, even if they enter your own house and you hit them for self defence, you will still pay the price because the law is so stupid, the criminal will sue you for something trivial like "He pushed me onto a broom and I hurt myself" and 99% of the time, they WILL claim that compensation, I mean just a few months ago, an old man living by himself was robbed by a bunch of punks, and in self defense, he shot one of them, and where is he now? serving time in jail....

That is messed up! God, I would think that the people that make these laws and/or pass them would have more knowledge and think for once.

I know the police are retards(not all). They need proof. Heck if they want proof tape them or take a pic. Heck for all the police know the next day you could be dead the house robbed and the place recked. Thats when they'd come. Policemen&women should actually check things out before something happens.

LOL! That is funny! Well, I got a rifle and bb gun by my bed not including a knife, bat, and my dog which is half pointer and pit bull hehe! Vicious little thing. So I feel safe, and nothing ever happens where I live, since I don't live on the Ghetto side of town where all of the murders etc. happen.

 I really can't stand robbers!! But I understand what your saying, a few days ago I went to my cousin's house to stay for the night, while we were there someone actually broke in! When he saw that we were there he pointed a gun at both us, then he tied me up and threw me in a closet while he tried to rape my cousin, fortunally*but unfortunatlly*my cousin told him that she had HIV so he tied her up as well and threw her in the closet with me half naked. It was a very terrifying experence for both of us.:(
Neither of us got hurt either.:(

good plan on teh hiv stuff, if it were me, when he tried to rape here, you take the gun and shoot out his knees. that way you dont get 2nd degree muder and he cant run:devil: and if you want you can throw in a few pistol whips or kicks to the gut:devil:

dot worry, the police i know would prob turn there head when you do this.

see, no i keep a nice big falay knife next to my bed, a 12 incher, and that thing could slice through kevlar with ease.... ....

i cant wait to get my self a robber, owww, will it hurt for him...

This is a situation where u should do what TN said, if you have a video camera use it. But if not get one. Or just use a regular camera and catch them on film.

In the state of california {usa} you can't shoot someone that has broken into your house unless they have deadly weapon.I know this for one reason.Avery close friend of mine by te name of rick is now in jail because a tweeker{methamphetamine freak}broke into his house at night and rick stabbed himit was proven that the tweeker was unarmed and only had the intent to steal...

however in the state of texas if someone breaks into your house you can unload a clip into them and say it was home defence and no jury will question.
My own thoughts are that the us should adopt sweeping laws towards guns like the uk,aus, ger, fre all have done.

Fortunate for me, I am a texan! That also goes with New Mexico. I lived there for 7 years once. That law is why I like living in Texas. If someone, armed or unarmed breaks into our house, you could kill them. Very few people go that far, I would just stab or shoot. Or get my dog on him. Either way he would be down.
