Continuing with the spolier....

I believe that her death was a brilliant move. By introducing such a lovable character and having the player get used to and sympathize with her, only to be forced to bid an early farewell to her in a tragic way made the game very emotional. It was such a great way to pull the player in. The tragedy added a lot to the game by lending it reality. It proved that all of the protagonists aren't invincible to evil...they are human and they can die. Furthermore, it really got Sephiroth over as an antagonist. If the player didn't believe he was evil there, then they had problems. Because of that, the player wants to hunt his masamune wielding butt down and beat the crap out of him.

I think there should have been a FMV at the end with the spirits of Zack and Aries meeting. It would have made the ending much better.

hmm....actually for me the Aeris dying scene made me simply think "goddamn.....Sephiroth is my favorite villain." I didn't get any "aaargh I'll get you you Aeris-killing bastard!" moments. Heh I mean I can see how others would but...I dunno I'm a sucker for villains, I was rooting for Sephiroth til the end anyway =P.

.. .. HIS BUTT CAN WIELD THE MASAMUNE?!

sorry.. i had to.. ^_^

i think aries should have died.. but in the game.. to relieve confusion.. they should have made it like 9, where instead of "dying" in battle you would have been "Knocked out" that way people wouldn't think the 7 gang was a bunch of dumb arses for not just using a pheniox(sp?) down..

yeh aries death didnt really bother me, the only character i couldnt relate to, and the next time i already knew it was going to happen, (I actually thought 'oh well shell come back alive' because of the whole foreshadowing thing of stuff said before, I think also because seph used the masamune so there was no blood it didnt have as much of an impact on me) Zacks death made me think '!' 'what?' 'uhhhhh' fu**in uh!!!!!!!!!!! id always assumed he was living somewhere else in a cave or something, dont ask me why i just did.

More painful!? Personally, I think Omnislash would be pretty dang painful!

And I think Aeris dying helped to move the plot along quite a bit. It was pretty unexpected for me, because nothing even gave you a hint about it or anything. All of a sudden, Sephiroth just drops down and, bang, she's dead...
I did cry when she died... It got one tear out of me, which is the best any video game has gotten so far. I think that any video game that can get you to cry is a good one; it shows that you've gotten attached to the characters.

Eh, correct me if i'm wrong, but Cloud was the main character... I think you meant to say one of the more major characters.

Yeah, Aeris kinda had to die to move along the story and whatnot. I didn't shed any tears but i was a bit stunned the first time i saw it.

The first time i saw it (Aeris dying and all), i was a bit pissed at Sephiroth :flaming:... But how can you not be mad when your healer just got killed off?

Of all the characters who could've died, she made the most sense. I really can't say anything that Crazy White Boy hasn't already said.

The FMV with Aeris and Zack would be ok i guess, compared to the FMV at the very end about the aftermath... I think that it conveys its point but is kinda a waste.
