Well first off I joined the boards after trying to find digimon pictures on theotaku.com. I have no idea what compelled me to join the boards after seeing the incredibly limited selection of pics that were on the site at the time... but I did it just the same. I used to only hang out in the digimon section, and I would only post every couple of days until one day when I went to Suncoast and was insulted by the guys who worked there for my taste in videos. The same day I put something up in general discussion about it ("Sad life of an otaku" anyone?) and right away people responded to it. It was right after that when I met N-Man, who turned out to be my first (and best) friend on the boards. In the digimon section I quickly became friends with Ginny (did't everyone?) and from there I got to know the amazing Cera. Then I went away from the boards during the summer, it was one terribly long and boring summer. I came back right after the entire V2 / V3 mess which I still don't understand and began my posting to find how uch things had changed. Alot of people were gone, and the most suprising thing was to see certain people rise to power on the boards. Then nothing much happened. I won an award or two from the otaku awards (Best Tenchi member, me?) In February my dream came true when I became a moderator. I feel partially responsible for the entire "wannabe moderator crisis" we have going on currently as I was the first to point out which topics should be closed, or moved, or whatever. So yeah, it has been a great year.. I have made alot of great friends and I hope to make more. I found Otaku, but lost the URL... [i]three times[/i]. About a month after I found TheOtaku, I finally worked up the courage to check out the interactive message boards. I signedup as Nerdsy. [b]Will you be my friend?[/b] That was the title of my first thread. My first post, however, was in Zelda, although I'm not sure what it was about. Okay, nack to the case in point, the thread. It was [i]huge[/i]! 93 replies! Igot a good amount of posts off it. After that day, I had 73 posts. Of course, I was a little spammer back then. [b]WHO LICKED THE BUTTER![/b] *shudders* Those words still haunt me. This was the not-so-well known spammer known as virdiancity.com. He would not shut up about the butter. I got into an immediate quarrel with him about it. Then he was banned. [b]Thanks Renee![/b] After a day or two of spamming, Renee finally told me to stop, and told me what spam is. Thanks Renee! [b]GF's! Look out![/b] The GF invasion. Gah,I remember it like yesterday... Jeff, Altron, No Name, and Chris Benoit. Ah, they came, they flamed, the were banned. Except Altron came back. But more about his antics later... [b]Nothing... Then the upgrade![/b] After a while (about a month) of building up my post count and building a reputation. At about 250 posts, we upgraded to V2! And that's where the best part of my Otaku stay would happen. [b]Building popularity... And a name change.[/b] Not much to tell here, cept I changed my name to N-Man. That's where I grew in popularity... [b]Flame of Recca.[/b] The Recca War. The first great war of my time. Altron (going by Recca Hanabashi at the time) flamed all the dubbies. After a while,he learned the errors of his ways and apologized... He later became a co-mod of Pokbemon with me. [b]Posting like mad![/b] About this time, I ran straight into my posting frenzy phaze! I was doing 100 a day! It was awesome! I got to 1ooo in no time. I made a lot of friends about this time, too. [b]Hump.[/b] Now comes Hump. Big. Pappa. Hump. One of the most hated posters ever. His entire purpouse wasto flame everybody. He got into a big flame war with Safer. After 2 freakin weeks, and Adminactually banned him. They didn't do a good job of modding back then. [b]BROKE 2000 AND NOW I'M A MOD![/b] I broke 2000. Vary few had done that back then. We also got a mod update then, and since Angel_Saturn_Healer decided she didn't want to mod Pokèmon, she suggested that I should bemade one in her stead. I was. [b]BROKE 3000![/b] Heh, this was the most exciting event of my time here. I broke 2000. Only 3 people ever broke 2000 in V1/V2. thimoc, Tyco, and me. (quite the list of prestige, no?) [b]SEEL, and the end of an era.[/b] Yes, the most catastrophic even of Otaku's history. SEEL "hacked" onto the boards and deleted all the Admins and ran roughshod over the boards. The details on this are a little sketchy for me, so I'm not going to elaborate. For some reason, when we made the switch to V3, I was not re-made a mod. I don't know why, but I never complained. [b]Wound down...[/b] For a while, I wound down on Otaku. Not a whle lot happened, and I left for a while. Then, I came back, not a whole lot hapened. Stilll not a mod again, but that's okay with me. I STILL remember how Renee laid it on the line to his stupid self....i think it was then i had a small flame for her and lots of respect :p *prays for her not to see this topic* but yeah.... i wish i had some peeps like these me and Nerdsy ar best friends...
