Bomberman

Fall

Now I know this is an old game, and has been out for a long time, but I've just started to get into it. I reckon it's pretty hard aswell.... :toothy:

I just wanted to know would Bomberman 64 still be out in stores? And if it is, would it be worth buying?

You might still be able to find it new somewhere, but you'd probably have to look really hard. I rented it, back when it was first released, and I didn't like it that much. It was fun for awhile, but it also had a few problems, like with the camera on a few of the levels. On one level, with lots of edges that you could fall off of, it was really hard to see where you were going, sometimes...

You might try to find Bomberman 64: The Second Attack! It looked like it was better than the first Bomberman 64 (I have an issue of NP with lots of info on it). Plus, it's 2-player in the main game. (I love Pommy. It's cute, and it can transform into other creatures :D). It's also newer, so you might be able to find it a little easier.

Well, played it and I think it was OKAY, nothing special, and the camera angles were annoying.... Well, if you wanted to buy this game, hmm, you would probably have to special order it, because I don't think they are still selling N 64 games with GCN, XBOX, and PS2 now out, which are more popilar, I dont reallly think you will be able to find it, but hell, give it a try.

Completed the font tag. :) You have to use (in this case, ) for the first tag, in order for it to work - jcgoudy

I personally agree with that Sephiroth, when it comes to a fun multiplayer game, Bomberman games fits in the list.:)

Anyways to answer your question Squashed Snail, I think you'll be able to find Bomberman 64 in stores such as Best Buy, Toys R' Us, Babbages, etc. or jut try to look at your local gaming stores.

As for your second question, I find Bomeberman 64 to be an average game, its fun going around setting up your bombs, blowing up things to get special power-ups, and fighting big bosses. But the most addicting thing that I like about Bomberman games, are the multiplayer battle mode it totally sucks you into the game.

But as jcgoudy mentioned, the camera in the game can be annoying sometime and I'd also prefer Bomberman 64: The Second Attack, the adventure in the game is much more enjoyable.Plus you get to have a friend or a sibling to join with you on your adventure which they get to control Pommy, a little cute creature who evolves into a bigger form depending on what you feed him throughout the game.

But best of all, there are more battle modes in the game, which is a very nice feature.;)

Thanks for the help guys, I just found a copy... :D Though now I gotta go back home and get my money... :toothy:

Is this game good for a challenge?
If you're talking about the first Bomberman 64, yes. I've never played the second one... But yeah, it can be challenging. Sometimes it's even just really hard to find where to go in a level. One stage was almost like a maze, it seemed like.

I've realy been missing out... I've never played multi-player Bomberman... Maybe I'll rent The Second Attack! and have my friends over sometime.

The multiplayer for this game is addicting. At one point when I had the game for a while, I would only play the adventure mode to find different outfits for the multiplayer mode. And to unlock the four secret bonus stages for the multiplayer was easy, all you had to do is push the start button pretty fast at the title screen untill it made a chime sound.

lol, well it seems that someone else bought it before I got back.... :(

But I found Bomberman: Tournament for the GBA! Sorry for all the hassle, but does anyone know anything on this game? Hard, good, worth buying?

Thanks again for the help guys... :)

Bomberman Tournament is quite similar to the past Bomberman games, well when it comes to multiplayer of course which is still addicting.

But the Quest mode differs alot from the other games, it features a nice story, challenging fights, and probaly the most interesting feature of all are the karabons, which are little cute creatures you will cross by that helps Bomberman on his quest. And throughout your adventure Bomberman can use the karubons that you have collected to battle other people who offers you an challenge against their own karubons kinda like Pokemon but different.

Well thats about it, I only rented the game and Bomberman Tournament is by far one of the best Bomberman games since Bomberman 64: The Second Attack.:)

If you want to buy Bomberman 64: The Second Attack before you buy Bomberman 64, than you might want to read up on Bomberman 64. There's a certain aspect of the the Second Attack that might be confusing if you hadn't played the first game. I won't go into it, because it's a spoiler, and I'm sure you want to find out by playing it...

Anyways, Bomberman 64: The Second Attack was a good game. Hard in some places, but not super-duper hard. The game was a little short, I almost beat it in 2 days. That might have been because I was in a hurry, and wanted to beat the game before I had to take it back to the rental store.

Anyways, I like both of the games very much, and suggest you buy both of them.

Hmmm... *pops over to the nintendo.com game list* It was released in May of 2000, in the US, so it's been out for awhile now. You'll likely be able to find it used, if you look hard enough. The Nintendo 64 is dead, but it's not really old, like the Super NES...

Oh, man... the Super NES, really old... It seems just a couple years ago that I was playing Super Mario Kart for the first time... *sigh* ...I wish I could go back to that time, when the Super NES and Genesis were battling it out... Back before games had ventured into the realm of 3D... Oh, how I loved my sprites and Mode 7 scaling and rotation...

Don't get me started, Debresko ;)

I would pay, like, a KATRILLION dollars to see FF7 and FF8 remade with FF5/FF6 style sprites. That would be so, so, so sweet.

Yes, I'm a sprite fan. (Like no-one already knew that... -.-;; )

I remember reading something saying "bringing cartridges out on the N64 was the worst mistake Nintendo has made yet".... I don't think it's the worst , I think the cartridges fit the N64..... and anywayz, it'd be too expensive to have 2 cartridges for one game, like it has to CDs for the game on PSX....

It probably actually was one of Nintendo's biggest mistakes... Another being when they pulled out of that deal with Sony for the Super NES CD add-on... But yeah, two cartridges would be too expensive, and you'd also need one of the Controller Paks to save your game on.

I personally prefer cartridges to CDs/DVDs... I guess I just think that having to use a memory card is a pain, and that you don't have to worry about scratching a cartridge... But, they're expensive (which makes the games themselves more expensive) and CDs/DVDs can hold more on them... So I don't mind too much... I just have a hard time picturing Zelda on one of those mini-DVDs. It just seems wrong to me, for some reason...

My 1111 post! Jackpot! (It's a bonus in Super Smash Bros. and SSB Melee, heheh)...

Hm, I don't think Nintendo's biggest mistake was pulling out of the deal with Sony. Had Nintendo gone through with it, it may have hurt SNES sales.

But yeah, two carts is just unrealistic. The GameCube's optical disc format has more than enough memory for most games.

I don't know about Nintendo's biggest mistake, but I think that even if they had gone through with it and it did hurt SNES sales, it wouldn't have been as bad as the PlayStation... The PS1 and PS2 have no doubt hurt Nintendo's sales a lot more than the SNES add-on could have... That, and Square most likely would have stuck with Nintendo.

A deal between Nintendo and Sony would most likely not have killed off the PlayStation anyway. Sony would probably still have gone ahead with it.

PlayStation sales haven't hurt Nintendo whatsoever -- people always look at sales numbers and assume that Sony has pushed Nintendo off its perch.

I wouldn't agree with that, because if you look at profitability numbers, you'll find that Nintendo is a far more profitable enterprise.

And let's face it, if you're making the biggest profit ratio on your products...it doesn't really matter if you're "leading" the console war or not. :)
