hah! you....defeat me in tekken? I think not, my crazy white friend, for you see it is I that won the tekken 3 computer exchange birmingham competition back in early 2000 where I won my butt a dreamcast, I am unbeatable, now I await the next tournament, I heard rumours that it will be tekken tag or soul calibur this time, I say boo to that!

when tekken online finally comes around, I'll be getting ready to beat some online butt!
Oh man, now look what I've done, gulp. Birmingham competition you say? *tugs at collar while sweating nervously* Man, I better get to practicing for you foo' because I'll never hear the end of it if word gets out that you embarrassed me in the game. :bawl:

psst! I actually have a weakness in the game, a character I lose against if it was in the hands of a VERY skilled player, I just can't fight against him....

lee, or should I say, violet, I can't stand him, ghah!

As for mashing buttons, you said "With Tekken 4, however, I got along just fine by pressing bottons sometimes." That, my friend, sounds like you're doing a little mashing on the buttons. And come on, all in all, you're saying that even though you're not the greatest Tekken player you have a much easier time with the A.I. than you do with Virtua Fighter 4. I'm not challenging you at all here. What I am saying is that at least both games can be difficult against skilled players.

And do you know what? I play Kumite mode and am able to just repeatedly hit punch over and over again and I easily ring out a great deal of my opponents. So, you can really whoop the computer cheaply before they smarten up. I beat around seven opponents with this method before someone smartened up.
I did say that I was mashing on the buttons, yet only once or twice to see how good one-who-mashes-buttons might do.

I am in no way saying that I'm an expert fighter at either of these games, in fact, I can't even beat arcade mode once! I can see where your coming from-it would be hard to beat skilled fighters in either of these games. Though different, both games have their own strategies, and just because you are good at one, does not mean you will be good at the other.

Yes, I know that it is possible to be somewhat cheap in Virtua Fighter 4 as well, however, I also feel that it might not work as often as Tekken 4. But I like how skill works, where you can see who is really the best without factering in luck on the random pressing of buttons. You see, anyone can be cheap and start smashing buttons. When this happens, the game is no longer a game of skill, it is to see who can press the buttons the fastest.

I heard that Tekken 4 for PS2 is going to be the first game presented in progressive scan (High definition) Is that true?
Yep, it has the 525p progressive scan mode. Holding the triangle and X buttons after putting the game in will bring up a screen that gives you the option of toggling progressive scan mode on....or so I hear.....

Yep, that's why I love counter moves. ;)

Well, do tell. We've all shared so don't be shy. It's cool to actually add something worthwhile to a topic intead of chiming in with vagueness for the sake of post count. Hint, hint. ;)

Tekken 4 is a fan favourite but VF4 is a game that requires dedication and time to mastering all moves and counters and so on. I do agree tekken4 is for anyone to pick up and have a kick about but if two masters play VF4 then hell will break loose. All moves require pure thought and consideration, but speaking frank who has the patience to master such a beat em up with many ways of creaming your opponent

true, but having everything being said and done, I'm still a tekken man myself, I just don't have the time necessary at the moment to put in all those hours into vf4....

Yeah, there is one Street Fighter game on the PS2, there is also Street Fighter Vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium 2001 (lol, I had to do the full name). That game is really good, but it was dis-continued in the UK because there weren't many sales of it :(. So now I have to search everywhere for a copy...

Well, I have to say I loved Virtua Fighter 1 and 2. But after those two the rest were pretty much crap to me. Virtua Fighter Remix, 3, etc.. They were all noting but the same thing over and over again. The basic Virtua Fighter rule is to never have endings, and only add two fighters with each game. Well, sadly it's the same with VF4 in that sense. But the actual gameplay, and fun factor are much like they were in VF2. The series may be back on track now. I also like how they aged the fighters making then look older, but I still think they needed to add endings and maybe a couple more new fighters. However the Kumite(sp?) mode provided a great amount of fun, especially when earning new articles of clothes to put on your customized characters. It's pretty funny some of the stuff you can get. I mean who wouldn't want to make their fighter wear a bowl as a hat?

Now, as far as Tekken 4 goes....well I of course haven't played it yet. But I'd have to say I hope it changes a lot, because I just never really liked Tekken much after the first one. I don't know why, but I just couldn't get a taste for them. Tekken 4 looks pretty good though thus far, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. But I'm not expecting too much at the moment.

ok, last week I bought a japanese ps2 with tekken 4 and virtua fighter 4, I was so happy, until I played virtua fighter 4 that is....

the game.....is, well, not as enjoyable as the previous installments, particulary VF2, which I liked the most, its just a tad bit too slow, and just not enough combos in the game, they say the game is more technical and not for button tappers, strange, my friends came over, hardly plays any fighting games, and button tapped like hell and it still worked....

the game ain't bad, it's just I thought it would be better....

but tekken 4 on the other hand....

what can I say, the game is arcade perfect, I haven't had this much fun playing a fighting game since soul calibur on the dreamcast, and before that it was tekken 3, the king of tekken, namely myself, heh, is finally back at home!

ps. keep away from Jin when in the arcades, his moves have been completely changed, though I think I've said that before, apparently as the story goes, he purposely forgot his mishima style fighting because he was so disgusted with his family, or something, heh....
Yeah right.
Dont you mean to say I have a Japanese PS2, and I have VF and T4, and that you came to MY house to play on it.

But i have a question, for all, will Heihachi have the devil power in the next sequel? or will he be dead already?

I have been the proud owner of Tekken 4 for quite some time now and it has come to my attention that one character is on my nerves. that character which you will never believe is (drumroll)... JIN worse. he is the brand spanking new totally idiotic character that all his move have been changed to traditional Japanese karate. the guy was kick-*** in Tekken 3. My M8 seph was really good with him, actually seph and Jin were like one (scary, huh?). but now he is slow, the moves are bloody clumsy and he is just crap. and the most depressing part of all of it is the reason jin renounced his fomer fighting style, Mishima karate is because (you've guest it) he hates his father and his old-man. any ways can some one help me bad mouth jin because he was my favourite character until he was destroyed.

Might as well start training with ling.

P.S. JAWAAD!!! YOU SHALLL BE THE FIRST TO BE ANIHALATED BY MY VAST ARRAY OF TURNS AND JUGGLES. ONCE I KAIN U WITH KING NO ONE WILL STOP ME AND I WILL SEEK MORE OPPONENTS WORHTY TO STEP IN THE SAME RING AS I. AHMED SHALL FOLLOW AND FALL UNDER MY POWER THEN IT WILL BE MOE!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA (heihachi laugh)

i wont mention zak cus he's just CRAP and sho is pretty good,

SAMAKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:flaming:

darn tootin', I was basically unstoppable with Jin, next thing you know they freakin changed him completely, ah well, he's not even that good in T4, very few moves, 64 in total if I remember correctly, and when you compare that against someone like king who has something like 160, well....

Ling Xiaoyu is an excellent character to train with, the only problem is she is very weak, meaning you will have to work 10x as hard as the other player to win the match, you have to confuse them, and learn her juggles....

you may be able to defeat jawaad and zak, but you will never defeat me, bwahaha....

I've got the UK release of VF4 now... all I can sy is.. I'm glad thaat the japanese and chinese voices haven't been translated, because if they say anything like the english people (e.g... 'Why am I soooo great?!?') I'd probably kill my PS2, and I don't want that... anyway.. other than the english voices, great game...
