You know how at baseball games there's usually some famous person or group doing the national anthem at the start of the game? This is so incredible. Our high school band has been given that privilege. May 2, against the Houston Astros, we play the Star Spangled Banner in front of tens of thousands of people. I'm ecstatic but scared at the same time. You don't wanna make a fool out of yourself in the middle of the field. [i]*Imagines horrendous, unintentional squeaks eminating from my area, paired with late and/or early cues.*[/i] Oy, what a world, what a world... ---------------------------------- ...And since double-posting is unlawful here at theOtaku, I have to update my post to tell you all what happened: So, we got there around 11:00 or something, walked in the back entrance, was cold, stood pressed to the wall for 15 minutes, walked around, entered an unused locker room, stuffed people in lockers, and waited. Then we warmed up, and did a quick run-through the whole song, in a room that was a third smaller than our band room, with twice as many people. Then we did more walking, then suddenly [b]we were there.[/b] Out in front of thousands, behind home plate, preparing to play the American national anthem for our baseball team. Wow, what a thrill it was. And no, I didn't mess up... [i]too[/i] much... Oh, and we lost, by the way. Now we're 8-20, worst record ever, I think.
