Ah, i feel bad for you, this game is one of the great RPGs of the world!

But yeah, i like how maany different things you can do in the game, customize weapons, items, armor, cook, so much to do... and the character selection thing...

87+ endings... how many games can boast that?

Rena's cool... If you play as her, you can get Dias as a permanent character :D... I own the strategy guide so i know a lot of stuff about it... Plus I've beaten it... that gives me some knowledge too...

...Any game that gives me a good reason to play again and again and again is definitely a great game...

I bought the game over a year now from my friend and still haven't beaten it! Don't get me wrong, I'm not weak or anything, its just that I never got around beating it! (wasn't in the mood, didn't have time, playing another game, etc.) But from what I remember, its a pretty cool game. Having 80+ endings though is little over-board though.... I mean, I haven't beating the game yet but I have a feeling that its only different as far as dialogue, and the characters you picked...

I've beaten it before. Truthfully, I was not too pleased. I play alot of rpgs, and this was not one of my favorites. Oh, Dias ends up being mediocre at best. The best characters end up being Claude and Ashton. I still haven't played anything quite as good as Final Fantasy III.

mmmm Star Ocean....I think there were exactly 87 endings, altho I'm not sure if that includes the 3 or so 'special endings'. The only thing is that u can change the ending u get very easily by using books to alter friend/romance values for people =\. The only real different endings involve celine and that prince guy....ernest and opera...maybe...ack I forgot. Anyway all that creation stuff was awesome, and the cave of trials is easily the most freakingly hard dungeon I've ever played. I STILL can't get by the 9th level, but my guys are only around level 130 =\. The first disc is fun, but the 2nd disc (paticularly the fields) felt kind of blah, cept the wisemen they're cool of course. Dias...yeah he looks cool but once u get all of his killer moves it's kind of disappointing, Ashton's a lot better =P. Plus the rumbling is the best in almost any PS1 game, if only it had more bosses that had something in relation to the story, instead of random big monster at the end of a dungeon....ah well, still a great FF-alternative

Level 130... Hm...

Are you able to get through all 50 battles in fun city's survival battle...? It might help... If you win you get an item similar to the trickster, it gives you random items and FOL... Nice...

Anyway, the master level is 255 in case you didnt know... It takes a long time to get there... but you dont have to be that high level to fight the final boss in the cave of trials... that place stil stands as the best place to train for me.

Level 9 boss, the sorcerer guy... hm... A good 2-fighter-healer-black mage combo might be a good party... Be sure to find the valiant boots there, theyre faster than bunny shoes and a lot more protective :D... I suppose that if you can prevent him from casting magic he wont attack much... Send in two fighters to attack him and prevent attcks, use your black mage (leon or Celine, i think) to cast magic to further stop him, and if the need arises, Rena (or noel whoever) can heal you... Thats all i think...

Spoiler for anybody who hasn't beaten the game yet.

so mystfalcon25, tell me have you beaten Indalecio
with his powerlimiter off yet? Insane uh? I know someone who was at level 200+ and he was still trouncing his party like they were nothing.

Yeah, Indalecio took forever to beat. I used claude and ashton to get on both sides of him and slice him to death, while celine was casting powerful spells, and Rena was healing everyone and catering to all the items needs. I got him though.

Well, i suppose you can beat it two ways: Fully and partially... I partially beat it, limiter on... However, ive been too busy training my characters to fight with limiter off... Last time i tried he killed me, partially because he can move at high speeds while casting magic... Of course that was before level 200, so i dunno if hes still as tough... Probably is...

I think i went in with Claude, Ashton, Leon, and Rena... Claude with the frontal assault, Ahston with frontal assault/tri-Ace, Leon casting extinction as many times as possible, and Rena keeping everyone healed and stuff... Yup that was it...

I already have the trickster and the fortune or whatever you get from Clik, haven't played it in a while so I don't remember if I got the 50-battle fun city one. Either way it's not that my guys aren't strong enough for the cave of trials, it's just one freaking guy! The boss of level....7 or 8 is a funnythief lv99, and w/ a funny slayer he's ez. But after that he becomes a random encounter, and sometimes a group of...10 or so funnythief lv99 drop from the sky and ambush me and I'm screwed. Even a character w/ Bunny shoes can't do crap against them argh! I can't leave the funnyslayer equipped anyway, and even WITH it they'd still trounce the crap out of me. I have bunny shoes on Claude AND Ashton! Gah if only I could stop fighting those bozos, they have too many HP for spells to stop them before they gang up and beat the crap out of me. Heh the bosses aren't a problem, maybe I need to buy some more go-home frogs =\. Hey what's the point of the santa's boots anyway? I haven't gotten anything too valuable from inns, maybe it depends what inn you stay at?

yeha!

I finally beat Indalecio with power limiter off! Yeah!

His HP is about 15000000, there may be another zero added to that, but the spectacles wore off too soon.

Man was it difficult... i got it on the 3rd or fourth try today... but it wasnt meant to be easy... and it wasnt...

By the way an ez trick if you want to spectacle-ify someone is to open up the menu immediately after using them, then it's a lot easier to read all the crap w/o being hassled.
i did that... glad im not the only one who thought of that...

actually i wasnt trying to memorize it at the time... but I played it again and won (again) and here's the info:

HP: 1500000
MP: 16000
Strong to all elements

Exp: 1372000... well for me anyway...

and that's on Normal Difficulty... imagine on Universe ... o_O scary thought...

Totally Sweet Game. I loved mastering all the Killer Techs and seeing their alternate forms. Though I wish your weapons would change in combat when you equiped new ones, especially once like the Crimson Diablos. Sepheroths got nothing on Dias.
