Sara
Wheeee, I've been here for all five, I feel kinda special-like. ^_^ [Not that I'm even close to being the only one, lol.] I'd hafta agree with mosta the older members here--v2 was AWESOME. hehe. Everything was a more chaotic and exciting....now everything's all....organized. ::shudder:: Plus, I liked the changing ranks and the little colored stars. ^_^ But yeah... v2 is still my fav. I was only around for the tail-end of v1...so mosta my buddies, I met in v2. Course, mosta them are all gone now, too. I joined an awesome rpg...haven't really been in one since it fell apart back in September... I miss RPG-ing, but I've never really gotten into another one. I started in with HV3, but then I had to go offline for a month and, well... Nostalgia ain't what it used to be. -Cera
Justin
Originally posted by James OtakuBoards has quite a colourful history. I think that's a pretty unique thing. :)
It's my personal belief(and observation)that Otaku has the MOST colorful history of any online forum anywhere. I, alone, can remember "wars" as far back as the "Will3x/Thimoc2 War"...if that was it's name. There was also the "GF War" or "GF Invasion" as many like to call it...ah, the memories, indeed. As for my choice...I really can't decide between v1 and v2. Both were so great for me. I wish SOMEONE would hurry the heck up and make a page where we can list all the events that have taken place here...BEFORE we begin to forget them. -Justin

Anyways, I liked V2 the best. It's where I really learned how to act on a board, and where I got every once of maturity (however little I have ^_^) that I have. I remeber the final days of V1... I swear, that place was FULL of spam. I remember a thread that was just a countdown to Freak status. I'm pretty sure this isn't right, but I think KAMAKAZI (Justin) made that thread. V2...Ah, the days of V2. *goes off to toot his own horn about the days of V2* V3... I wasn't here enough during then. V4, it was about like V3 to me. V5... to early to tell... And, ah, there are so many corrections I could make in this thread, but I'm not going to...
Char!
What's sad for me is that I was so wrapped up in the Pokémon forum when I signed up that I can't even remember when I signed up. It was either April '99 or '00. Sad really, I've missed out on so much... My absolute favorite version was the one I signed up on. Message boards were so new to me, and I remember a friendliness I can't begin to describe. *sniff* Ah, the memories... But also, the lack of memories... ~Mystical Pan~
Well, I joined during V2....right during that whole Hump War....and Aeris thing...he changed betweens those two names I think...lol But I didn't post much cause I lost the url and I had been using stupid school comp....*Growls* >< V3, at first I posted lots I think...then school went evil on me...I didn't post much on v4...and v5...like everyone else, still to early to tell...lol
MarkM
I joined in the begining of v.2 as mmjoku (dont ask) i pretty much stayed in the zelda fourm. The only war i rember is "The War Of Neards" between Vegeto and N-man. V.2 brought good times. then i became The Otaku Wiseman (i think it has a ring to id dont you?) And yes the otakuboards did end in a bad way. But i do rember is that i made Shinny give me the max post count. that was kinda cool. But on came 3.0 and tons of complaining about the new syatem of working things. And before i knew it v.4 was born i didn't really like v.4 because it turned out to be a dud but thus V.5.0 was born i like the way it looks and the lil messege thingy on the bottem (which im using now) it comes in handy. So i think that v.2 & v.5 are the best by far.

Chaos
Well, I came in V3..... I kinda liked it. The PRP and all. Fights with Warlock and Sia...... Damn those were awesome.. But for some reason, I cannot get back into that feeling of.........energy......I had when I first joined, my mentality of it all..... But in any case...... I love v5 for the format and the fact that we have a Sparring section now! YAY! :p;;; But, v4 was coo'.........The format was nice and all, but nothing really happened. But I liked the Artwork forum add-on....:toothy: So..... 1) v5 2) v3 3) v4

Justin
Originally posted by sage Well well, this is interesting... has Otakuboards had a dirty history?:smirk: I had to vote version4 coz then I joined the crew(wow, has it been nearly two months already???). But really, what happened to version2, James???Me curious!!!!
Now, isn't that the $197 question? lol... The boards were 'hacked' by two members:Gendo(Akito) and Shinji(Shinji v.2). They "took over", Gendo being the idiot he is let SOMEONE(lol) join them. Once that SOMEONE had full administrative capability, HE deleted Gendo and Shinji's accounts. Shortly thereafter, HE turned everything back over to James. Now, here's the $198 question: Who can guess who this 'SOMEONE' was/is? -Justin
Treble
I too among all the others have also enjoyed V.2 the most.:) I remember how the Pokemon forum was always fulled up with interesting topics and how everyone helped each other out. Next is the gaming forums it was also filled up with members that made it an interesting place to go to. I remember how the members always wonder how all the new next generation consoles will turn out to be, like "I wonder which system will win" and all those other types of silly questions. And so on... V.2 was one of the most funnest time I've ever had, and I'm happy to see how Otakuboards has grewn up so much.:) *Edit* Ah.... I think I know the answer to that question Justin, and that is the man himself its you Justin (Kamazaki), but if I remember correctly wasn't there also other members that helped? PiroMunkie
I liked v2, it wasn't as slow as v1 even with my old crappy computer. I was still getting oriented in v1 so I was more focused on finding my way around in that version. So I really got to enjoy v2, more. Plus Topaz was still active around then [woeful sigh]. . . But yes, v2 had some fond memories :)

Shy
It seems like every member has their own stories to tell about the history of the boards, and that's what makes this place so great. There are tons of little groups of friends scattered throughout these fine forums: the digi-peeps, the triads, Adam's angels, the list could go on for days. I joined in Version 1, which means that I have been here longer than everyone on staff (except for perhaps Justin, I don't know when he registered.) My favorite version was number 2. I remember this place being full of interesting topics, and a large cast of diverse personalities. Over time I think the older members have become a little jaded with the boards, and we kinda "grow up" together. This is not a bad thing however, especially when I think about the wonderful people who post here, they are some of the most passionate, caring, and intelligent people I have ever known. :whoops:

Sephiroth
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy Like many of you, I really liked version 2. I joined like, right during the "Hump Era," so it was a little chaotic at first, but after things settled down I had a lot of fun. Basically, I made up the most god awful name I could think of (being unique is cool though) and posted a bunch of silly things. Telling jokes was kinda fun and the MASTERdeBATORS stuff took off a little more than I thought it would. I made some neat friends though like Foredaddy and Galaxy Girl (both of whom are around rarely now adays). At least Seph's still around, though I haven't gotten around to talking to him on AIM yet. Ah well, definitely the version 2 'tak. Fight Club ole' school is still where it's at. ;)
the hump era was pure joy to me, sniff.... heh, I remember your old name, the great frying pan man! hilarity ensued.... was I a masterdebator? I can't remember, I don't think I was yeah, foredaddy and galaxy girl are rarely on nowadays, heh, foredaddy was one crazy mofo, lol I tried talking to you on aim twice, one time I think your brother said you were busy or something, and the other time you weren't replying, heh fight club still rules to this day, enough said....
