Zero-Altron
Originally posted by ZeroG214 Does that include me?:p :D But seriously don't pay attention to those people who say anime is freakish cartoons. They obviously never saw real anime and just brush it off as a cartoon. A club is a great idea to get more anime fans come out of hiding and others to get addicted.:babble: Its certianly worked on Hunter and my High School. Besides, anime is FAR better than any movie or TV show that I've seen so let them talk, they're just missing out on some great stuff.:smirk: And Hunter were there really some teachers who didn't like anime? I never noticed. (Guess was too busy watching the great anime we had and taking part of the video game tournaments!) Ah those were the days....
I am just curious, how did you get an anime club started? Did you go talk to the princepal or something? Eh, it's not hard to find good anime fan's down here though. Plus, if for any reason I am feeling isolated, I can just come here, with all theses other anime fans to cheer me up. :P
Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
:) Well the way we got the anime club started in our high school it was simple, first off all you need was a moderator a.k.a. teacher to look in at you guys from time to time! As long, as there was at least one teacher willing to do so you could have a club, for advertisement we didn't really do much, everyone seemingly came to us once they saw a tv going on! So I guess if I was going to give some guidelines of how to get an anime club started these would be it! 1.)Teachers approval, and at least one senior as a president this helps much 2.)A vcr, and tons of anime to watch and discuss 3.)A decent amount of anime lovers, and responsible people 4.)Someone as hardcore of a fan like me! hehehe j/k:p Hope this helps you out! Now lets get back to the topic at hand please!;)

Mitch
Yeh, my Dad always asks me 'why do you watch cartoons still?', next time he does I will say what TN said that would be great, lol! Also, I wore a DBZ shirt to school once, and of course, everyone is so prejudice about everything I got lots of crap. Well, you know what? I don't care what other people think, if they don't like me just because I like anime, that's their loss. I mean I get crap from people for wearing a Linkin Park T-Shirt...some people these days...
Genkai
we don't have an anime friendly community, so usa anime fans stick together. but of course, i feel sorry for 1st graders who watch teletubbies and cocky 1st graders make fun of them... my chinese teachers kid went through that..... anyway, some of my friends say to me "anime is stupid" and i say "so?". they say "well, why do you like something that's stupid?" me:"well, you like spongebob, and go to hell if you find that a witty show with intellectual depth.". and they shut up. projekt_navi
Some people just have different views on anime ... a little kid would just watch something like Dragonball Z ... right until they go to the age where they realize they are too mature for it (like me) Leave those little kids alone! Let them watch their yougin' ay.nee.mee!
vegeta rocker
welcome to my world, man my town is dominated by kids who like pikachu and dbz and think thats all there is to the world. Then the other side think anime all suck. Im stuck! I took a anime tape to a friends house and she was like, is it almost over? I grabbed Captain Tylor's box and gasped and fainted. Well, i almost did.
rMs
I hate that because I love DBZ. Everybody thinks it's for litte kids. I always tell them if it is why is it on Cartoon Network? It usually works. You should try it sandramaxwell60.

Of course I know that little kids watch this show, I'm not ignorant but I have all the right to obsess about whatever I want too! Sometimes I feel like the only one. :smirk: But we anime fans are all over the place! Anyone else having this problem?!
I get that a lot. I'm very withdrawn, and I get harassed by other people, but they smoke and spraypaint on each other and throw fireworks in class, so there. There's a few hardcore anime fans at school (I'm one of em) But I'm the only guy there that really likes SM (I know some that watch it, but aren't as much into it as me)
Krillen
isolated? Non sense! All of my friends are the most popular kids, they are aslo skaters like myself. And we all lovvvvvvve anime! I brought over movie 12 of dbz and we all sat down, got bean bags, and didnt say a word the whole movie, it was like a ritual for us. We love Anime! I use to get made fun of, but not anymore. No one cares about what group you are in now. The whole school is cool with eachothers life styles.

Genkai
well, i didn't realize that i posted on this until i read EVERY LAST POST and saw that mine was there. okay, well, as i said, i have these friends that like anime, and they're also the only anime fans in the school along with me: one(1)"the girl who read the Sailor Moon manga(yes, ALL of it), and likes anime style." three(3) hardcore anime fans one(1) "girl who knows what we're talking about though she doesn't really like anime, though she has a batsmaruu plushie." one(1) kind of anime fan, but doesn't really like it, just likes dubbed stuff and owns akira. two(2) people in the grade ahead of us who like anime and are kickass artists well, we are REALLY hated on sometimes about anime. once this crew and i were talking and we were pretty much alone, no one in about a 40-foot radius except for a "popular" kid who had just come out from eating and was heading over to her friends as she passed by us. my friend Yuhe(that's YOO-hah) said "Kamui" and you won't believe what she said. It proves how anime-prejudice my school is, but also how ignorant they are. here it is; "WHY DON'T YOU ****IN FREAKS STOP TALKING ABOUT ****IN GOKU OR ELSE YOU CAN GO BACK TO JAPAN AND DANCE WITH THE PIKACHUS!" well, first of all, i don't talk about goku, dance with pikachus, or come from japan. well, here's the good part. since there was no one else there, we just stared at her loathingly, and then burst out laughing........ doesn't feel quite so popular now, eh? YAY!
ifm2181
I hate the people at school that judge everything before they even know what they're talking about. I remember when they used to say "Go catch your pokeemons and f*** your Pikachu". They would say "First off, It's Pokémon, Pikachu isn't tangible, so I can't very well f*** ink. And if I could, it would hurt. Get it straight before you get you get tae kwon *** kicked by someone." It's funny when they try to explain something that they don't even know about. ~*!Rei Hino!*~
Today I wore a SAilor Moon shirt to school, when I walked into my first class, the person next to me said, "Sailor moon?! Nimrod
Well, I can't say anime is well liked at my school. However, I haven't been picked on for what I like. I think that picking on somebody for there own opinion is exactly what causes people to become social outcasts. Also, I think a lot more people would appreciate it if it were forced on students in the form of a class. Anime is a helluva lot more interesting than the English lit. crap school forces on us. Japanese people most certainly are more capable than most american authors at creating a good plot. It would be cool to have some sort of class set up like an english lit. course where you would observe and gain a better understanding of anime. Unfortunatly it is a very stupid idea and a decent class would be incredibly difficult to teach. But man I would love to take a class like that. Of course, people would still hate it if they were had to watch it. Merely for the fact that it is school-related.
Jeebs
The other day I was watching G-Gundam in the living room and my mom came in and wanted to watch something and said she didn't want to watch any Digimon stuff. I tryed to tell her that it wasn't like Digimon but she wouldn't listen. I don't get picked on at school for liking anime, mainly because I don't talk much and don't have any anime clothes or anything, so I don't think many people know, nor do they care. Someone in my language arts class is planning on getting the school to start an anime club, and my language arts teacher is going to sponsor it. Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
Lol, its funny but I also have to agree most family members including mothers, brothers, and sisters. Don't really tolerate anime its sad how they can call it a cartoon when in reality it isn't. My sis always calls it a cartoon -_- angering me to the point of no return. Another common thing that was meantioned is that every parent I know including my own thinks everything is Dragon Ball Z. As for the comment on wearing T-shirts I never really had a problem at my high school wearing Anime T-Shirts and other things. Most people at my school accepted anime. Actually I think everyone in my school did. ^_^ Guess I was just luckily. Though guys don't feel ashamed to be an anime fan, the people who criticize it, and make fun of it. Are the true people missing out on something great. Its sad that almost everyone on this planet has to be narrow minded to anime.
Genkai
well, my parents know it's not cartoons, it's anime, but my mom says she thinks it's "scary"....--___--...... anyway, most adults say oh, you like digimon? or look at all the dragon ball z stuff you have!!! i don't have any dbz stuff or digimon stuff..i dunno, people are weird...--___--
Guest Darktoweronline
In Texas, a comic shop manager is serving a six-month obscenity sentence in prison for selling Demon beast and Overfiend to an adult. The product was kept in a box behind the counter so no-one underage saw the material. The seller was an adult, the buyer was an adult, but the store manager is still in prison because the court opinion said (paraphrase): 'comics and cartoons are a form designed to appeal to children. Selling animated adult comics and videos is dealing in pornography designed to be consumed by children.' Because the comic shop was within a few blocks of an elementary school, a man's in jail. That illustrates the problems of cartoons and comics in the US. Almost everyone believes picture books are fit only for the youngest children or mentally handicapped people (it's not the 'smart' character in the movie reading the comics classic Moby Dick.). If people do find 'mature-reader' material in a comic or cartoon they find it obscene. It was only a little while ago that American courts decided that the 'image of a child isn't a child'. Many unedited anime works were illegal in the US a year ago. From 50's comic code trials to the present obscenity laws, a person older than 12 challenges a lot of American history by wearing that Dragon ball or Sailor moon backpack. Takes guts. Genkai
wow.. i nevr thought people would go that far.. it's scary..... but not a lot of unedited anime is illegal now, is it??? O.o
Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
If thats the case then they would have thrown me in jail a long time ago for having my collection of anime completely unedited. Its weird how the courts ruled on that. Once again blame narrow minded people for thinking animation is only for kids. -___-
