~Mystical Pan~
SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! kinda...lol This has been bugging me for quite some time, we all know that the Angels attacked Japan because they thought Adam was there, however it was actually Lilith who as there, intead. Now the question is, HOW COME THE ANGELS COULD NOT DISTINGUISH ADAM AND LILITH? Ok, now some of you may point out that Kaji had been the embryo of Adam to Gendou, however, what about before that??? Techincally, wasn't it in Germany before Kaji gave it to Gendou? I'm confused.><
Darkness
Not to impose, but can we make this an all out NGE explanation thread? I just finished watching all of the series, including the movies and I have plenty of questions and self-generated answers. As for your question, I'm not sure. The angels weren't too smart, but evolved as the story progressed. It is simply possible that they just didn't know. They had to learn the truth, same as we did. By time they actually figure out that the angel in the facility is Lilith (Kaoru) it's too late. But I thought that Gendo had Adam in embedded in his hand the whole time. Kaji does refer to Lilith as Adam earlier in the series, so it's evident that he didn't know either. At least not at that point.
Sephiroth
the simple answer is that nobody knew, not the angels not nerv, SEELE made it so that everyone thought that nerv hq in japan had adam.... why is this I hear you say? to put attention away from the real adam, they sent lillith to nerv tokyo, they did this so that the angels stay away from germany, so that they do not come into contact with adam, they knew nerv japan could protect themselves from angels because they had the eva's it's all a clever rues put up by SEELE, send the enemy to the killer, keep adam safe.... ~Mystical Pan~
Darkness, go right ahead, I know I have a lot of questions myself..lol Like, one of my friends pointed out that the names of the episodes are references to books and stuff..not sure why..>< lol I see, so basically SEELE even fooled the Angels? But couldn't it be possible that in the episode where you meet Asuka, that the angel knew where Adam was since at that time Kaji had the embryo of Adam? Or do you think it just attacked because of Eva 02?

I believe that particular angel was just there at sea, and probably "sensed" the evangelion, as we see from time to time, the angel always known where the eva's are as there are numerous references throughout the series.... the angels get smarter throughout the series, they know that the eva's are supposedly protecting adam, so they sense an eva and believe that adam is nearby, that is why whenever the angels attack, there is always an eva nearby, angels never attack first unless provoked.... Darkness
The angels have attacked unprovoked. I think it was the 16th angel, when Rei used the lance of longinus that the angel attacked first. In fact a couple of others did too. The angels were more like a military force than anything, attacking and using various techniques to do it. Don't you think that it's ironic that the last angel was humanity?
