Gaming Odd....

Something VERY strange just happened whilst I was playing FFVII... Whilst fighting the Midgar Zolom in Disk 2 to get the 'Beta' skill on my 3rd piece of Enemy Skill materia (as you do). Now, I cast Laser for the 3rd time on the MZ, and he responded with whipping Barret out of battle. At this point, my parties limit meters were all full. Now, as soon as he whipped Barret out of battle, the words 'Limit Break' appeared at the top of the screen against a Transperant Red Background. Midgar Zolom then cast Beta.. And I know it wasn't any of my party members using/gaining a limit.

My question is this; Is 'Beta' the Midgar Zolom's 'Limit Break'? Do other enemies/sub-bosses/bosses have Limit Breaks?

yeah, they do kinda have limit breaks, they tend to use their most powerful moves when they get a certain amount of hp lost, midgar zolom, as you know, uses beta, materia keeper uses trine, etc....

Yeah, I kinda figured that, but I was also kinda asking if anyone had ever seen the actual 'Limit Break' Message onscreen...

[color=indigo]Yeah, I've noticed that too. Infact, I fought the Materia Keeper just... *looks at clock* ...Okay, so it was yesterday... But only about 5 hours ago...... Anyway, yeah, it seems like some enemies have attacks like that when you beat on 'em enough. Like Emerald WEAPON with Aire-Tam Storm, Ultimate WEAPON with Shadow Flare (another Enemy Skill), and Safer Sephiroth with Super Nova. But that does sound like a weird glitch... I've never seen anything like that happen before, and I've fought quite a few Midgar Zoloms...[/color]

Hmm yes I have noiced this and I have never witnessed the words 'limit break' appear at the top of my screen.
I wouldn't call sub-bosses and bosses' massive moves, 'limit breaks' as they cannot feel an emotional state, well some of them :D But I would call them 'final resorts' to kill all of your party off. So what's the animation to Beta like?

What what? I recall Beta looking like a rather large Firestorm explosion thing... I don't know what you're talking about, SG, :p..

[color=indigo]It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I remember Beta as a kind of vertical, whirling tunnel of fire. With the center the narrowest, and the top and bottom really wide. Kinda like that, anyway... Like I said, it's been awhile.

I think I'm going to have to go see if I'm strong enough to beat a Midgar Zolom and get it. My party is around level 35, so I think I should be able to beat one. It would be handy, because then Barret would have a good fire spell other than Fire 2. It's been getting a bit weak, for the bosses, and Fire 3 is a ways off.[/color]

You can beat Midgar Zolom as soon as you get Laser. And at that time i am usually about Level 25-30.

As for the Fire 2 - Fire 3 thing, i just beat any boss with my plain physical, i only ever use magic (paired with all) on groups of enemies, so i can get my limit breaks quicker.
