Kent
the usaf and usn did an experiment vehicle project. the x-15 was a jet launched off the bottom of a b 52. in 1967 it reached the speed of mach 6.7 and by the end of the project the pilots actually earned astronaut title because of the hieghts they acheived in the x15. in fact the only reason the craft stopped going higher was because the wings were burning up on re entry. if you have ever seen it .... do you the the xgp and the x15 look alike and that also applys for the , i think its called, the stingray from cowboy bebop, whatever spike pilots. thanks for reading. Geist
I've never seen a picture of it, (do you have one? Or can you PM a link to one?) And Spike's ship is called the "Swordfish II", just clearing that up for you.
Kent
right on, unfortuniatly i dont really know much about post links or even getting pictures ive drawn on the computer. i think if you use a search engine and put in x15 you can find it easy. i found out most of my facts from that kind of search. it is a plane from the 60s so the similarities may be few. Geist
Okay, I'll check it out. EDIT: Wow, you're right. It does sort of, (in a way,) look like the X-GP.
Kent
yea thanks, im not all that crazy. it also has alot to do with the angle your looking at it from. also, you know the small boosters on the nose of the xgp, the x-15 had a system similar to that because the typical steering mechinism (the funny pieces of each wing that move)on an airplane cannot work in outer space. Geist
Hmmm...boosters...I'll have to watch OLS again. And have you ever thought that we might both be crazy? :twitch:
Kent
no the pricipals of aero dynamics make it so alot of designs have similar qualities. as for the boosters on the xgp, they use them in on ep to stabilize a landing. another thing, maybe humans dont understand aero dynamics so well. according to our own laws or theories, the bumble bee shouldnt be capable of flight.
