Kent
do you think that the charectors in dbz represent bigger issues having to do with life outside cartoons? do you think some of the charectors represent religons... piccolo a muslim, goten a budist... and so on. i cant come up with much more than that, what do you think? p.s. if this kind of hypo-thetical analysis bothers anyone im sorry, didnt mean to get you mad. JCBaggee
I think if we aren't careful, you're gonna unintentionally create more theories like the "DBZ-Third Reich" and "DBZ is a tool of Satan" theory.
Kent
i dont really know what you mean with that. ive never heard of the dbz third riech, would you share that idea with me. and as for satan. ha, ill try not to get that kind of stuff going. dubora...hmmmm
JCBaggee
Here we go... DBZ-Third Reich Super Saiyans are representative of Hitler's ultimate race, the Aryans. Mr. Satan is representative of Jews, which is why everyone chanting "Satan, Satan..." while he appears is not a coincidence. DBZ is the tool of Satan Kame is representative of Heaven and God, Garlic Jr. and the Dead Zone represent Satan and Hell. If you pronounce Satan sans "T", it sounds like "Saiyan"(not true, since the original pronunciations is "Saiya-Jin"). And they're all fake!
Kent
not bad, personally i think that goku and the boys (no vegeta) are a little to accepting to be nazis, but some people see anything in whatever they want. about the kami and garlic. most conflicts in this world end up being depicted in a good evil way. i think youll find that conflict alot of places. so many that dbz is just another on the list for those who like to fuss. and just to make sure, im not saying that anyone is a "fusser"

Transtic Nerve
Originally posted by sk8blind90 dude dont question the show just watch it and like it
Dude, don't sound like an a$shole... Anyway, I think, obviously, there are going to be outside representations... there is in almost anything, and Toriyama was a smart and witty man and he probably did mean somethings by it. However, I think people look WAY to far into the show dealing with such serious things as Satanism and Nazis and whatever.... Just think how long that would have taken him to think up and then incorporate into the show... much of it is pure coinicdence. Oh and Toriyama puns the HELL out of DBZ. Everywhere you look there's a pun for something. For those of you who don't know, puns are a "play on words"... such as Mr. Satan, which is just a pun of Satan, and his daughter, Videl, spells Devil when the letters are rearraged... Trunks, Bra, Dr. Briefs.... Bulma, who in Japanese is pronounced Buruma, which in English would mean "Bloomer(s)"... which is punning breasts.. Chi-chi means breasts... Gohan means meal/fried rice... it's even written that way in Japanese.... uhh all that Saiya-jins are puns of vegetables.... or things close to them... and etc etc.... the list goes on. Japan has less than 1% Jewish population. The ideal of Nazism is nothing to them. It doesn't effect their population in a whole. Many J-Rock bands do songs or wear symbols of Nazi germany. Die from Dir en grey did this one photoshoot with him wearing the Swastika... Japanese culture also seems obsessed in German style clothing. in Gackt's 2001 Requiem et Reminisence concert, he wore German style military clothes the whole time. It's really odd on how thats done. Guest Saiyaman
I never thought of the Green Dude with Antenna was a Muslim. But Anime do seem to relate to real-life issues sometimes. It is nice to relize it once and a while but they put that in there to make it more seem like it is real.
Kent
nazis, japan, they did do that one war together, against people like me, and im sure trans nerve, i hope toriyama never supportted those ideas, as for anyone else who follows those beliefs. ... Kent
i think it had something to do with prosperity good luck and other things of this nature. on the other hand, i have read that some cultures view swastika's to mean two different things based on the direction of the swastika. no matter what it used to mean, it means nothing to me and if it ever would have, the nazis ruined it for me and everyone else. zidane11
I don't really think that the show really represents religions to much. Not enough for anyone to hate it. I hope.

JCBaggee
Evil Buu destroyed? Ha! Getting back on topic, though, this whole DBZ representation thing is getting way out of hand. It's people jumping to conclusions like this that got prayer taken out of schools and the Ten Commandments removed from a courthouse in Tennesee last week. If these idiots screw around anymore, DBZ is gonna be gone too. Bottom line? It's all puns...Toriyama is not trying to make you see Satan, Nazi's, or little pink bunny rabbits.
Guest Chris
the only religous things i can imagine are what happens when some one dies (which is probobly just made up to suport the story) and the energy thing (which i don't think has eny thing to do with religon).
