I can't tell you what you should get, it really depends on your likes and dislikes. If you like action, violent games with a good plot, and Grand Theft Auto 3, then Max Payne will be perfect for you. It takes real, gang-like situations and twists it into video game standards with bullet time and more. True, it's smaller than GTA3, but that lets the game focus on the little things that you can do that are really great, like turn on a TV, I believe.

If you were to ask me, I would obviously have to tell you to go with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, though some people here would disagree, heh.

The choice is up to you, and you alone. No one can tell you what you like, you have to choose between games of your favorite genres. Good luck.

Hm, nothing out now that I can think of. Though you could try Winback on PS2 -- it's a similar style of game (and quite good, too).

Ubi Soft is making a new game for GameCube, PS2 and Xbox called Splinter Cell -- it's looking absolutely incredible so far. I can't wait to read more about it.

If you were to ask me I would tell you not to get it for PS2 just because of the fact that the controls are hard and the graphics are not as good as the X-Box and PC. I would suggest that if your PC is fast enough to handle the requirements you to get the PC version. If it is not I ould suggest you not get Max Payne and get another game maybe Grand Theft Auto 3.

I agree with you BlueGender. If your system is powerful enough, I would definitely get the PC version of Max Payne instead, Ryanmc225.

Anyone familiar with Max Payne knows that the Bullet Time mode is an important feature of the game. As a matter of fact, it is the one feature that sets Max Payne apart from the legions of other shooters. The Playstation 2 version loses a lot of the effect that accompanies bullet time though. Unfortunately, bullets whizzing through the air a la The Matrix aren't nearly as visible.

Furthermore, the PS2 version suffers from a lot more loading then the PC version and lacks a "save anywhere" feature. When playing Max Payne on a harder difficulty you've got to be prepared to lose a life every now and then. Without the ability to save mid-level, my enjoyment of the game would lose out to aggrevation. Lastly, sections of the levels have even been removed. If you've never played the PC version you won't miss them. But, for those of us who have, it is extremely noticable and disappointing. I mean, if you're going to sub divide a level, you may as well include the whole thing.

If the PS2 is your only choice, then I still recommend the game. The graphic novel stills that further the game are unique and the voice overs totally scream "Cheap Detective Movie." If you like constant, mindless, no frills shooting, then be prepared to use your trigger finger....often. Puzzles in this game are basically nonexistent. You'll be in videogame heaven.

The only downfall is that the game is only single player. After you're done going through it once, there won't be much of a reason to go through again. It's a blast while it lasts, but only while it lasts.....
