Alexander
What is your favorite Megaman Playstation game, and what would you recommend first to people who have never use a Playstation before? I'm getting a playstation soon, and I want to buy the best. (Before buying the rest. =) ) I'm currently planning on MMX6 and Legends. (Legends is wierd, but good enough to buy, in my opinion. That Megaman Juno guy is just plain *freaky*.) (I'm also planning on buying Yugioh Forgotten Memories, but that has no place here.)
Flash
Well, you know what I'd say... I'm a freak when it comes to staying in order, so I'd say MM8, MMX4, MMX5, and MMX6... 'sides, If you get it in that order, it should be cheaper, ya know?
Guest Magma Dragoon
I stayed in order too except for MM8 I just got that last month (real cheap too). But I would say the best is MMX6. I love it!

ZeroBlade
I say it really depends on what you like Alex. Megaman 8 is your classic megaman game with wily and his bots and such. Simple story and a pretty touch difficulty the first time around. The X series is more favored by many due to its anime feel. Story is much more complex and it can be really apreciated if you play the games in order. Each game has its own plus and minuses. X4 is the easiest of the three. Story is a bit lame but its the only game to have animimated cut scences that are really cool. X5 is the toughest. (I must say, i was pleased to have my butt kicked in this game) The story is just awesome and its a blast to play. Unforunately, there is one annoying thing during the game.... every now and then you can be going through a stage and all of a sudden the game takes over to tell you a useless message. X6 is the most frustrating. The nightmare system is a great idea but sometimes its a pain in that there is some parts you just can't get through. Most of the time is being poorly equiped. The other thing is the controls: the moves for a certain character clash with his other moves. You die more because of this problem than by the eneimes. However despite this its still another great game and it can help you link this game with the upcoming GBA game Megaman Zero. Legends is way different from the X or the classic megaman games. Its 3D and its an action/RPG game. The usual "kill 8 robots, copy their weapons and go after the boss of the game" does not apply to this game. You are sent to ruins that are infested with robots called reaverbots, try and find any treasure in the ruins and bring it back. Story is actually pretty good in my opinion and its a nice step away from the usual megaman gameplay.
Fall
I think the nightmare system in MMX6 is the most confusing part of that whole game, though I still think it's the best game out of the series.... so far, MM8 hasn't been out in video stores here. ZeroBlade
How is the nightmare system confusing Squashed Snail? The only thing the system does is put or remove obstacles in your way. The most annoying to me are the huge gaps you gotta jump....
Fall
It isn't confusing to you? I dunno, for me, I just don't get it for some weird reason.... Oh yeah, the huge gaps you have to jump are also annoying. I hate it when there's a lot of enemies around a huge gap.... ugh..
ZeroBlade
The only thing in the X series that confuses me is the pattern the game follows for X5. I've been trying to figure out what triggers the different paths you can take in the game and I still haven't gotten the slightest idea on how the system works. :-/
The Vampire: Ed
Well, it may just be my opinion but I feel the series really went down hill. WAY down hill. I myself loved Mega Man games. I've played every single one that was made. From Mega Man 1 to Mega Man Legends. However I've never had the oppertunity to play Mega Man Legends 2, but I don't know if I'd want to. I mean the last couple Mega Man games, specificly in the Mega Man X series, were very VERY boring. Dull, and tedious to be exact. Nothing new or interesting were in them, and I'd gladly pick any Mega Man for the NES or Mega Man X for SNES over any newer ones. Those were definitely a lot funner to play. wrist cutter
Megaman 2 was the best, screw what everyone else thinks.
The Vampire: Ed
Well, I in general think the best Mega Man games were on the NES. So I'm pretty much in the same boat as you wrist cutter. It's been so long since I've played then now, but I know they were a lot more challenging. Especially Mega Man 1. No saves, no passwords, no nothing. I remember sitting in front of the TV set playing Mega Man 1 all day just trying to beat it. I miss those days now.

The spin-off on the main series was nice back then, but its been way over done since then and exceeded its true purpose. Now we're just seeing cash-in Mega Man titles. Alexander
Eh, I dunno. I'm very glad MMX has expanded into it's own series. The Original was too childish, overall. I like the darker tone in the MMx games, and the gameplay. I can't STAND Megaman without Dashing and Wall-Jump abilities.
ZeroBlade
I'm way with you Alex! I never liked the original megaman games as much as the X games. They're so limited, no dash or climbing ability. I say the X series keep you on edge and force you to use all your abilities. I like the story in the X series alot. Its so much like an anime to me. Like in X5 when the worst happens to Zero and X I wonder what the hell happens next?! Are they alive or dead?! On the other hand, if capcom EVER makes a megaman game that tells the story on what happens between the main series and the X series, I'll go buy it. Its true that the X games is pretty much the same game over and over again. But I don't let that stop me from buying it because its like the next 'video' to buy for an 'anime'. The best example is the upcoming Megaman Zero game. You play as Zero instead of X and they also call Zero megaman for some reason. Your first question is "Huh? Where's X?" so you wanna find out by playing. As for the Legends series, they don't apply to the usual megaman gameplay. Its both are worth playing and story is quite complex. I suggest for anyone to play the first Legends game before part 2, that way you'll know whats going on.
