well i was fighting the elite 4 all of my pokemon were defeated by the 1st elite member ( pretty embarassing huh ) exept for my 2 trusty pokemon typhlosion and pidgeot. They beated all of the elite 4 single handed together. Intil lance beats the crap out of them. Which makes me curious about it. In a guide book for G/S they mostly trust in ho-oh and lugia for defeat and also typhlosion.those 2 pokemon ho-oh and lugia are flying pokemon. So is pidgeot, noctowl and others. But typhlosion weren't so powerful with its 2 defencive/offencive moves. Thunderpunch and earthquake. So i wonder if all of the flying pokemon teamed up with typhlosion with the 2 moves can defeat the elite 4 plus Lance alone and together.

Wow... I guess this just goes to show that the Elite Four in G/S are easier than in R/B/Y... Except Lance, but he's not one of the Elite Four anymore... In R/B/Y, you'd never be able to beat the Elite Four with just two Pokémon... At least not without a ton of items... Or, if they're level 100, I suppose...

But that's kind of weird... I guess the Elite Four's Pokémon have a lot of weaknesses to Fire and Flying, or at least to the types of attacks that you usually find on Fire and Flying types.

Well Fire (Typhlosion) is usually effective against Ice type pokemon (first leader), though she also has water type pokemon, so a flying type would do to beat here. Those two pokemon alone can beat the first leader.

The second leader is a bug/grass/poison type leader. Typhlosion can mostly beat all of his pokemon single handedly.

The third leader, a fire/rock type leader. Flying type pokemon can usually put up a good firght against the fire type he has, and Typhlosion would be more effective against the rock pokemon.

Fourth leader, a dark/ice- (Sneasel) type. Typhlose and Pigeot (or flying type) can beat here, usually Typhlosion would beat Sneasel, and the dark type. Though Pigeot would put up a tough battle for the Dark type pokemon.

Lance is a dragon/flying- (Garydos)/water type trainer. Pigeot usually is total crap against electric type, and Lance's Dragonites know electric moves. So Pigeot is gone. Typhlosion could/could not beat the Dragonites Lance has. If he does, Garydos would likely kill him. Though if Garydos comes out first (which he usually does) Typhlosion will lose about 3 quarters of health beating him, than Dargonite would beat him.
Unless of course your Pigeot and Typlosion are on level 100.

Sorry about the long response, I got a bit carried away.... :D Hope it clears some things up.

I beat the Elite Four with just a Blastoise at around level 70. Gary beat me though... Because it was a poorly trained Blastoise. (Water Gun, Surf, Hydro Pump, Skull Bash. -.-''')

And of course they're easier. Like someone pointed out before to me, we have 8 more gyms after that! If the Elite Four were the hardest in the game, where's the challenge to go after the 8 Gym Leaders in Kanto? There is none! It would be one boring battle after another just to get to Ash.

huh????? the 1st 3rd and 4th you all got it mixed up.1st one is psychic, water, grass, and flying.Well i will explain how i beat the elite 4 in Gold version

1st member:Will
Xatu is the first one to beat so i have to use typhlosion's thunderpunch since its a flying type.
then slowbro same stratagy
then another xatu same one
AND the last one eggxugutor burn it into crisp with my flame wheel

2nd member:Koga.
ariados is easy. i could go 2 ways kill him with pidgeot or typhlosion.
forretress, must be destroyed with typhlosion with flame wheel. because forretress is a duel type pokemon and flame wheel or any other fire attack multiply its damage by 4
muk, destroyed by typhlosion with his earthquake
crobat, he's a tough cookie. takes me 3 hits to beat him because of the max potion koga have.
then the last one...venonat.destroyed by pidgeot or typhlosion

3rd member bruno
hitmontop....tryed fly but keep on using detect so i killed him with 1 wing attack.
onix...switched and earthquake the heak out of him.
hitmonchan, switched again and wing atttacked him
hitmonlee, same stratagy for hitmonchan.
machamp...this guy is mighty powerful but 2 flys is enough.

4th member karen
umbreon..tough one. need a lot of wing attacks.
gengar.. switched and earthquake him off.
murkrow.. thunderpunched him
houndoom... earthquaked him
last but not least vileploom flame wheel her.

my other four pokemon was togetic, jumplufff, weepinbell, and machoke.

Karen and Lance are tough b/c they have much more than one type. All you need is a good fighting type for Karen's Umbreon, and a strong Ice type for Lance's three Dragonite.

Jynx - Ice Beam & Psychic in moveset
Typhlosion - Fire Punch/Flamethrower in moveset
Machoke/champ - Cross Chop in moveset

These three at decent levels (40+) can take on anything and everything the Elite 4 throw at them except for Will's Slowbro. Just have a decent electric with Thunderbolt and he's toast! :D

lol, I knew it! Never mind, I always get mixed up between Gold a Yellow for some weird reason, causing me to mix up the leaders.... o.O;;

...I haven't played Gold in about 4 months, so that could be another reason...

The thing is, I didn't find the Kanto Gym Leaders to be any harder than one of the Elite Four... So it was pretty much just one boring battle after another...

My elite Four team on crystal is:

1. Elite Member Will

I use Feraligatr

2. Koga

I use Slowbro or Mewtwo

3. Bruno

I use Pidgeot

4. Karen

I use Feraligatr and Charizard

5. Lance

I use Feraligatr and Suicune.

You just go with what Pokémon works for you, and the one that can best handle what type you're facing. That's what I do.

To take on the Elite Four on my Gold, I use just Typhlosion. Of course it beng at Lv. 100 (with no cheats, just pure training :D ) helps out. On my Crystal, I use all my party Pokémon; Feraligator, Pidgeot, Furret, Suicune, Entei, Raikou. But I just use it as a way to get my Pokémon to level up. Doesn't really serve any other purpose.

No. Feraligator lv. 92; Pidgeot lv. 48; Furret lv. 50; Suicune lv. 58; Entei lv. 52; Raikou lv. 51. But like I said before, I just use it to level up the team, so that's why their levels are all different.

I seem to be able to beat all of the Elite Four by using pokemon under level 30, and one on level 49.... that's pretty good if you ask me, and it half proves that the elite four on previous games are harder.... I couldn't beat the elite four on red with out a level 100 pokemon, and all the rest around level 60....

.....or maybe it's just me... :drunk:

On Yellow, I think my team was around Lv. 60 when I got to the Elite Four. I could make it to Lance and beat all but one of his Pokémon before I lost... The one being his Dragonite (it has Thunder or Thunder Bolt, can't remember which, so when I put out my Blastoise to use Blizzard it got hit and fainted before I could even get in one hit with Blizzard). If I had had the money for more recovery items I could have beaten him and Gary, but I ended up having to go back... When I returned, though, I had the three Legendary Birds and Mewtwo with me, so I totally trounced them that time :toothy:

The only way I could beat them in Blue was with the Rare Candy + Glitch cheat...

But on Silver Version, I used Feraligatr Lv. 47, and beat them al w/o him dieing...that does prove that they are weaker in G/S

True, but Feraligator is the next strongest starter next to Typhlosion. I wonder if anyone does actually pick Chikorita as their starter, knowing it really doesn't stand a chance at the first two Gyms....

i think your a little off topic and we all know that it will be random.

yeah but save chick dude for the 2nd half of the game. Because it will have a HUGE advantage.Totodile have sort of an equal chance against all of the 1st and 2nd half of the game gym leaders.

How could you beat them with Mewtwo? you had to beat them to get Mewtwo from the Unknown Dungeon.

No, I did not use a GameShark! I had lent the game to one of my friends, and he beat it, even though I had told him NOT TO BEAT IT OR SAVE THE GAME! It really pissed me off, but there wasn't much I could do... He also cought the three Legendary Birds, and Mewtwo, so I never got the chance to catch them myself. I did beat it with my original team, though, after I leveled them up a bit, so I did beat them without Legendary Pokémon. The first time I used Mewtwo and the three Legendary Birds, though, because I wanted to see how strong they were.

So yeah, I did beat it with my original team after leveling up enough so that I could get past Lance... I just beat them with the Legendary Pokémon first... I'm still wishing that I hadn't lent the game to my friend, because I really wanted to catch the Legendary Pokémon myself.

Oh, sorry. I shouldn't have made that assumption. I admit, that was wrong. But Yellow isn't really that hard. Why didn't you just start over?

I did, actually, after I got Pokémon Stadium and was able to save all my old Pokémon. I played until I got to Cinnabar Island, and then got bored (I had new games to play by then). The next thing I had to do was go through the Pokémon Mansion, and get the key to the Cinnabar Gym. ...I keep thinking I'll start playing it again and beat it, and get another set of Legendary Birds, but I seem to have too many games as it is... Right now I'm playing SSB Melee, Final Fantasy VII, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and Zelda: Oracle of Ages. (I need to find someone that's good at the Goron Dancing, to do it for me, though, because I simply connot do that type of stuff where you have to memorize things quickly. I dunno why, but I've never been able to do that sort of thing). ...But yeah, I already more games than I have time for, and then I have other things to do on top of those (such as this board).

And sorry if I came off as a little touchy, but I will never use a GameShark... Not and save it afterwards, anyway... I might try one out just to have a little fun in some games, but I don't like to use cheats to get past things in games.
