I actually liked it when zombie's began crawling towards ya and began munching on your leg, class!
James
I don't know about the head stomping thing...but I personally think it's great that RE is so hard, as everyone suggests. Older gamers tend to complain that newer games are often shorter/easier than older games...and perhaps new gamers are conditioned to enjoy those kinds of games (especially "casual" gamers). I think it's great that some new games can still be really tough.
The Vampire: Ed
The only head stomping you get to see is in a cut-scene, and no the zombies never seem to try grabbing your legs when they are knocked down. I don't believe I have ever seen a zombie crawling in the RE remake either....maybe they removed it. All you can really do is shoot the zombie when it's down/trying to get up.
Yeah, basically they removed the crawling/head stomp feature because it would make burning the zombies far less important. Getting bit in the leg wasn't really that damaging. I guess removing interactive downed zombies was Capcom's way of increasing the difficulty. Anyway, I'm still a little disappointed that punching and kicking were taken out. I heard that that feature was merely an example of the animation Capcom could get out of the game. Although I doubt it would have been that useful, it would have been nice. And Squashed Snail, I'm not saying that the graphics would be bad. What I am saying is that the visibility would be sad. Remember, there's little lighting in many of Resident Evil's spooky corridors. Without a decent source of light, the GBA screen would make your eyes look like that one from the original Resident Evil title screen and ads. MaggotDude
:D I finally got farther...I swear, there is nothing more fun than walkng up to a "deaD" zombie and using it as a fire pit.I love it!I didn't know you could do that, then I read about it in GamePro. Also, there IS a handheld RE game.Resident Evil Gaiden. I heard it sucks though. It got crappy scores.
Gogeta-sama
the whole no item boxes being connected is an extra feature you get after beating it on normal or hard modes. its called extra survival i think and its like playing the game on hard but without the item boxes being linked at all or the auto aiming function as well which seems impossible to complete. yeah, it sux that you cant stomp/kick their heads off when theyre lying on the ground especially when there was an unseen enemy lying around the corned that you accidentally ran across giving you a heart attack. i bought resident evil the weekend it came out before even getting the gamecube and let me tell you, i love this game so much....although i still like resident evil 2 better and this the 3D'ness of code veronica gave the series something special, the remake on gamecube is by far the prettiest and most challenging of all. for some reason zombies get tougher as the graphics get better. buy this game now if you havent already! Charles
I figured I'd just bring this back to note that it is indeed possible for zombies to crawl around and bite your feet in the remake. So far, it's only happened in Chris's game though. Nonetheless, it was pretty cool to see that it still has some place in the game.
Guest ProudClod
Id say that the most unrealistic thing in resident evil (besides monsters, duh) is the way that Jill and Chris can fold up a rocket launcer and slip in their pockets, lol. If you look at tomb raider for example, every weapon you get is shown round your waist or shoulder when not in use. I think that this effect gives RE the more positive feel to survival, it makes you think, "I need to carry every weapon I can just to be ok, Ill never know what will come round the corner, must be prepared." Another cool feature would be to see Jill/Chris/Rebecca actually put the weapons in the box, and to see something in it rather than nothing. Turkey
Actually Clod, in Code Veronica they slightly fixed the "magic backpack" problem. In it the bigger things took 2 spaces. However, it was still weird to have a Rocket Launcher taking as much space as 2 keys.
Guest ProudClod
Sorry smoky joe, I dont think I made that clearly enough to make my point, Im aware of what they did in code verica, but thats not what im trying to say. I was trying to explain that they could show an unequiped weapon such as the shotgun, strapped around jill/chris where you can see it on the character in real-time play. Turkey
You mean like the defensive weapons in REmake? That would be awesome! Imagine Chris running around with a shotgun on his hands an a rifle strapped on his shoulder.
Rancid
I rented Resident Evil for GC, it was a lot of fun, I liek to play it with all the lights off and alone. The backrounds are incredible in the game.

Revolver Ocelot
Originally posted by Solid Snake Ah, it's games like these that I regret not buying a GameCube for. Sure, the original Resident Evil is still a possibility for me, but as I see it, the remake sounds (and looks, for that matter) 50% better. With breath taking graphics, more rooms, more strategy, tougher zombies, different puzzles, and more, it's like a fresh start on the previous skeleton. And not only does it have better improvements, but it's also supposed to be even more scarier, adding such a great atmosphere to the game that it's no wonder people are finding it to be so fun. I look forward to seeing more great games by Capcom release for GameCube, but this game will always rank top among my Capcom favorites. :blah:
I couldn't have said it better myself. It's games like this that may force me to *gasp* return my ps2. Now the Metal Gear is comming to all 3 systems, I don't know what to do! But as for this game, I have a close friend who owns it, and it is wonderful. Can't wait for RE0! :smoke:
Guest Craken
Ya i'd have to say the graphics for this game are among the best I have ever seen for any game. But I'd have to say, the creepiest thing in the game has to be the mutant girl Lisa ( I believe he name is). RE0 promises to be just as amazing especially with the new feature they're adding which allows you to switch from character to character at any time. Semjaza
Yeah, I agree Lisa Trevor is the creepiest part of that game... Especially the things you learn about her as time goes on. And unfortunately GC isn't getting MGS2:Substance. PC, PS2 and Xbox are.
Guest Craken
You mean metal gear solid?
Charles
Originally posted by Craken You mean metal gear solid?
This is getting off topic, but Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is an enhanced version of Metal Gear Solid 2, set to release later this year. Of course, this isn't the place to discuss it, either look it up on the net, or visit the thread in the PC/Xbox forum. Moving on with the topic, the idea of a shackled, seemingly bullet-proff creature, stalking the world of Resident Evil, really reminds one that the game is a remake rather than a rehash. Although it would have added to the tension, if Lisa Trevor was able to stalk the player in real time, the concept would become muddled with that of Resident Evil 3's nemesis. On the brighter side of things, we are still able to experience a similar feeling after completing the game once on normal or hard with both Chris and Jill and choosing "Once Again". Kamikaze Zombie mode is definitely a twitch fest. Resident Evil Zero's altered game mechanics will add both realism and complexity to the formula. The exclusion of item boxes means that the player will be forced to remember where they placed their items. Switching between characters in real time could add a whole new dimension to puzzles and strategy. When controlling a character, the player must decide what to leave behind, and distribute weapons and healing items. The alerations in Resident Evil Zero's formula only lead one to believe that the series is finally evolving and moving in a slightly different direction. I can only wonder what Resident Evil 4 will bring to the table.
Guest Craken
Well I like your view on the game you seem as into resident evil as I am, they've definatly improved the game in more ways than one and it seems as though thier not ready to stop. I think it's great to see a game of this magnitude on the gamecube. It proves the fact that Nintendo learned it's lesson from the 64 which seemed to be trying to make it's money on "baby games". Such as Pokemon, and a slew of others. With GC having the exclusive over RE and many other exciting and exclusive games, I think Nintendo has finally gotta back on track. This time they seem to be putting out games quick enough to make it a fast pased and exciting sytem to have all in all. Back to Resident evil I have to agree with Crazy White boy, the zombie in the new RE keep you on the edge of your seat, which greatly enhances the game play and forces you to play the game smarter.
