Lady Macaiodh
okay, listen. when i'm sleeping at night, i get woken up by loud gun shots going off outside. i was playing my guitar outside my apartment when i heard guns being shot off. the problem is that i don't think i should have to get used to guns being shot near my house. there is a huge problem when i hear gun shots randomly & i see the cops pulling up to investigate, like it's an every-day occcurance. what it this world coming to? does anyone else have this problem? maybe it's because our president was the governer of the state with the highest death penalty rate in the country. maybe life is just a token to be used & taken away. well, the next time i hear of somebody being killed over ten dollars, or a stolen pair of shoes, i'm just going to give up on humaanity as a whole. excuse me, but i'm really pissed off. i thought a human life was worth more than that.
Guest gojay
:babble: Trust me, you're not the only one with that problem, just last night before I went to sleep, not only were there gunshots outside my window but for some stupid reason people started poping firecrackers...you are so right what is this world coming to.:(
Heaven's Cloud
When I grew up in DC, we used to play basketball at my freinds house everyday until highshool. The only thing louder then the sound of us playing was the sound of police sirens in nearby neighborhoods, and the echo of gunfire every couple of days. It is a miracle that all of us survived growing up there. My friends and I grew up getting beaten up by hoods and then getting our bikes and jackets stolen so they could pay for another fix ( I don't really know what they were using our stuff for...I do know that my mom forced me to go to the local precinct several times to describe someone that beat me up and took my bike). By junior high the bullys stopped, but the violence in our area never did. So my parents finally packed up and we moved to NC.
Guest Morph
Well LM, we live in a crupt world, these are some of the things that we have to deal with, although I do not like the fact that it happens everyday, it just does... I mean, unless you can get something to stop it, it will always happen, my advice, just ignore it, I mean yes, there is the COPS, and probably someone got hurt, but its their fault for fighting, not yours, I do have some sort of value towards human life, but to get in a fight, with someone that has a weapon, especially a gun, is very stupid, unless you know for a fact that you will be able to beat this person[s] your up againist... Thats why whenever you travel, take some friends with you, just in case something terrible happens
Kaioshin
I totally agree, this world is seriously degrading itself. But we need to make a change ( dont ask me how, I just know we do, and it's easier said than done) Luckily in England, they've banned guns, y dont they just do that in America? Anyway I plan on moving to America. Dont get discouraged, whenever you hera gunshots jsut remember all the good things in life and the things worth living for, and all your friends on the otakuboards! P.S. This sounds really sappy:rolleyes: , but it's all true

Break
People killed over $10... and their shoes...!? That is really stupid, sometimes I wonder why people murder people anyway. What good is a pair of shoes gonna do...? I've never heard gunshots... so I guess I'm alright..
Kent
you are not alone, but, i personnally think that if you think this problem has anything to do with bush... well i dont even know where to begin. killing and murder are up to us to stop. more over the prob. is that we (board members) arent the ones gangbanging, robbing, murdering, exstorting. crime is always gonna be here. heck, i think that if all states would crack down on crime the way bush does, i dont think this would be the prob. it is. we all need to take a part, but, the people reading this arent the problem. did people stop killiing each other when clinton was in office. do you really mean to say bush is responsible? also, if you think taking guns away makes people stop killing, your wrong. how do you think people did it before guns, what they didnt?! come on. and, do you think taking guns from responsible people who admit to having them and registering them is gonna take the gun away from the punks on the street or the arms dealer in guatamala,(who ships them here straight through a weak ***** I.N.S., coast guard system of protection.) heck no. there are too many guns already made. if you want to be safe you should learn to protect yourself. whether it be a gun, knife, chi blast, or just running your butt off, you better learn soon. the cops cant protect you when they are trying to hunt down pedafiles. good luck and god bless us all. oh yea, if you love the first amendment, you better respect the second cause in my eyes they are equal. Red
That doesn't happen like that in England, but we still have violent attacks happening over here over someones shoelaces. I think this kind of thing is getting way out of hand, the next generation is growing ever more violent, with gangs becoming the ever-growing trend.... Guns aren't used as often in England, but knives and gangs of 20 people are used just to steal a mobile phone over here.
BlueGender
I have the problem allot of hearing gunshots their is a guy near where I live who killed a guy for one dollar...one dollar!!! Zidargh
Hmm in 'merry old England' wait that was a completely opposite term. The area where I live is filled with gangs, well not exactly my area, but you can see them practically everywhere, alleys, even on the streets. God, I dont know what runs through hoods' and gangsters' minds nowadays. I really personally feel that you should get out of there soon. BUT, no you(Nor anyone) do not deserve to put up with evidence of violence, but the problem is, how do we stop violence?

Sara
Meh.... I hate all my neighbors, but it's a safe place where we live. If not, we'd've moved long ago. I've got a kid brother, just turned five. No way my parents would let him grow up anywhere they didn't think he was as safe as possible.
zidane11
Just the other night some kid in high school was beaten to death with a two by four outside my school. There is a small road in some woods that goes between the middle and high school and I think that's where it happened. It was after the prom and he was probaly walking to his car or the middle school. This world is crazy isn't it?

Same for me...except I have a eight year sister. Like, sometimes there's some stupid gangs outside smoking and talking about their girlfriends, but the only police car I've seen in my neighborhood was one at my ex-friend's house for speeding! :modrod: I'm relieved. I feel for you people who gotta hear gunshots 'n stuff. I think the world is like really changing. There are so many murders and MAIL BOMBINGS?!?!?!? Geez! I didn't think terrorism would have such a powerful effect.
GotenksSSJ343
I also have sisters two of them are 1-3 and the last two are 8 and 9 but I feel safe when I think I here gunshots it turns out to be firecrackers (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!!!!) or my neighbors druming/band. I feel safe though cuz we have about 6 cops living in our neighbor hood although there was some wacko killer/raper in our area who got arrested and swore revenge so I think Americas in trouble BUT WE MUST BE STRONG
PiroMunkie
. . . Hrmmm... I have never had to deal with this, so I am a bit unsure on how to how to help you with your situation LM. The most I have ever experienced is witnessing the random fights that happen every so often in my school. Though the reasons.. pardon me, excuses for these fights are really no different then the exuses used for the gunshots you here. Shoelaces, money, clothing, CDs, etc. But these random acts of violence are going to happen, which is sad enough and true. The world is too full of apathy and selfishness these days that no one cares about taking another's life, which can be good if you plan on becoming a hitman, but I know that applies to very few of anybody. I wish there was a way I could help you with your problem LM, give you some advice or something. But I'm really not sure what to say.

ZeroBlade
Around my way, everytime someone asks me where I live, I tell them the East New York/Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn. For some reason they gasp when I tell them that and they always reply they've heard its a bad section of New York. I don't know, I think its just a rumor or sumthing because I lived in that part for more than 10 years and I've seen only 2 shootings, one not too long ago right in front of my house. Anyways, I consider my city area safe and one of the cleanest areas of New York I've seen. Its either that or I've just developed a way of Dodging bullets without me knowing :-)
Guest cloricus
Well it your own faults, you?re the ones who think "We have the right to carry arms" (if your in America) so don?t complain - or do some thing about it.
The Harlequin
In Australia, they've banned almost all guns. So we get other problems. Such as knives. It might not be all THAT common, but it's happened to me.
Guest cloricus
Knives have always been there, getting rid of guns just took one extra risk away. (And yes there are still illegal guns in Australia but not any amounts to be worried about.)
