He slowly began dropping hints about the possiblity of a war in his radio addresses, and the government began to equip the allied nations with the lend-lease policy (or something like that.) Everyone knew that the US was eventually going to war, I think FDR withheld info about Pearl Harbor.. or if not him, the British.[/color]
Sui Generis
I think yes he knew that they were giong to attack. I'm sure tons of people knew this. But when is a different story. I mean think about it, after what was happening in the Middle East I expected a terriost attack, but I didn't know when or where. It was 9-11 at WTC, knowing someting is going to happen doesn't do anything for you untill you know when or where or both. Also, it was a huge war before the US entered and I think FDR knew beyound a doubt that we would be propelled into war, one way or another, there was no escaping it. He tried to avoid it, and he did a nice job of it. He did just about everything he could. But noone could ignore Pearl Harbor. I honostly think we suprised Japan and Germany on how quick we joined and re-tailiated. Who knows.
Guest
I have to disagree with you about the FDR thing. Why would he enter the war at such a mass amounts of death?Im sorry, but that is totally crazy. Yes we would ave been in the war sooner or later. But the British of the Presz. would withhold imfo that oculd save life.

Char!
I know so little about WW II; I don't get History again till Junior year, and we just reached the subject last year before school let out. All I know is that it was more exciting (to read about) than WW I.

I just started learning about it in Social Studies class, and I know more about WWI than I do about WWII. You learn the most interesting things about it. Example: the other day, I was telling my mom about what we're doing in school(she always wants to know), so I told her we were learning about WWI, and so then she tells me that Wilson's wife ran the country, and me, only being in 7th grade and knowing virtually nothing(at the time) about WWI, I was like: "COOL. THat's so cool, it's almost like having a lady as president." so ya see? WWI isn't boring(well, to me it isn't.)
