Zelda is what brought me to otaku all those years ago. I bought my first gameboy along with zelda. I was on ign.com and out of this big list of places with zelda info I came here. I asked questions and then I found my self to like this place. I've come here ever since the version one boards. This is my most favorite site ever. Thanx adam and everyone else on otaku!!!

By the way, what ever happened to Blanks777? I know james is here now and I was wondering if anyone knew if they were the same person or not.

How did you guys find otaku?

I got your message and moved this thread to Otaku Lounge. And don't worry about it, it wasn't any trouble at all. - Desbreko

Blanks777 is Justin (not our Justin though ;)).

Just Blessing joined theOtaku early through its life -- in late 1999. At that point in time, he was running Absolute Sega (his site, AbsoluteSega.com, had merged with theOtaku).

At the very same time, I had applied to write for AbsoluteSega.com. When I contacted Justin, he informed me that AS was moving to theOtaku.com. So naturally, I decided to write for theOtaku.com's Absolute Sega section.

But only about a month after that section launch, Justin dumped it and went for an Xbox section (which I wrote for, for a while).

A few months later, I opened my own section; Absolute GameCube.

And then, by mid 2001, Justin decided to leave theOtaku.com and start MSOtaku.com -- a fully independent site.

At this point, we had a lack of staff...and we closed down our gaming sections and put theOtaku.com under rennovation.

It remained closed for quite some time, eventually emerging in its current V2 format.

During that time, MSOtaku became CloudChaser: Microsoft. And recently, CloudChaser merged with XenGen to create XenGamers.com.

Justin currently has no projects going.

And I'm still around -- I was responsible for the move to O3Online (including the site's logo and core website) and since early 2001, I have been running OtakuBoards.com while Adam has been running its sister-site, theOtaku.com.

Now of course, Otaku Artist has launched...OtakuBoards is on version 5 and all is running smoothly. :)

Phew...a brief history lesson there, from the staff perspective. Hope that answered some questions. :)

Another history thread!? You would think we would get tired of talking about the past so much...

I found the boards after visiting theotaku.com's digimon section (this was a year ago, when the otaku didn't have any content) Something compelled me to join the message boards, and four version numbers later I am still here.

Lets see... Begin Flashback

I was walking through a food store and saw a book shelf. I had walked up to it and started flipping through them one at a time. Then, being the Pokemon fan that i was, went slower through a book, and a URL caugt my eye: PokeCHEATS.com
Three months later, I had rememberd what the URL was and visited it. I followed a few links and ended up on the message boards. I joined under "cruizr131" on October 28th, 2000. I have been a member ever since. (Believe it or not)

Ditto.

hehe, I actually did a search on Digimon Fanart...and I found Ginny!!! ^_^ Loved her artwork, emailed her back and forth a few times, joined OB, and, as they say....the rest is history.

Wow, these are some interesting stories. Someone got married (supposedly) and what other website could have brought you here by missplelling? I guess it doesn't matter how you got here as long as you are here.

By the way gouf, I got cloudstrife to join and then he got you to join. I guess it all worked out. More members!

basically the same for me, only later on. It was around February, 2002(well, DUH) and back around December, I had gotten into a Digimon obseesion(which I am STILL obessed with). I had read a lot of fanfiction, but had not been to ANY digimon sites at all(I didn't even know about Megchan and lelola). I decided to find some nice Digimon websites, and I wound up at TheOtaku. From there, I joined the Boards. I must say, that coming here was the best thing I ever did on the internet.
Oh, and believe it or not(i'm sure you'll all believe this, considering my post quality), this is the third message board i've joined and I've only joined three message boards total. :cross:

How did I join the boards? It wasn't in April, March or November, but during a May that I specifically remember. So sit back and have a bite before it becomes stale. Listen to the White Boy's historical tale.

The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So I sat in the house all that cold, cold, wet day. I sat there with Sally. We sat there, we two. And I said, "How I wish we had something to do!" Too wet to go out and too cold to play ball. So we sat in the house. We did nothing at all. So all we could do was to Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit! And we did not like it. Not one little bit. We played with the computer and that was it.

And then something went BUMP! How that bump made us jump! We looked! Then we saw him step in on the mat! We looked! And we saw him! The Cat in the Hat! And he said to us, "Why do you sit there like that?" "I know it is wet And the sun is not sunny. But we can have Lots of good fun that is funny!" "I know some good sites we could surf," Said the cat. "The otakuboards are my turf," Said the Cat in the Hat. " I will show them to you. Your mother will not mind at all if I do."

Then Sally and I Did not know what to say. Our mother was out of the house for the day. But our fish said, "No! No! Make that cat go away! Tell that Cat in the Hat You do NOT want to join the otakuboards today . He should not be here. He should not be about. He should not be here When your mother is out!" "Now! Now! Have no fear. Have no fear!" said the cat. "The boards are not bad. They bring cheer" Said the Cat in the Hat. "Why, we can have Lots of good fun if you wish and after posting a little you'll forget about this stupid fish.

Avatars and singatures the boards did possess. But before White Boy they were but a mess! No enemy of cats or their health, I ditched Sally and kept the Cat in the Hat for myself. So that is how I joined the boards on that very rainy day. That is why you are reading this whacked out post today. :toothy:

CWB, you are freaky!

Zidane11 was telling me all about the boards before I had the internet. From the first time he told about them, I wanted to join. I got the internet and joined during V3. I then persuaded gouf, scgm, and Sacred Warrior to join. Glad you're back Z11!
