Darkmoon
Yes, I know that this anime has not been on for a long time, but all the same, I still like it. Who's with me? *a few raise of hands* That's good. At least it hasn't been completly forgotten... Anyways, the real reason I had made this thread was because a friend of mine had told me that the ones we saw had alot of parts missing to it . Apperently they had cut out alot (when I say alot, I mean alot!) from the original version. What we now see is just fragments of the original thing. What I want to know is, is this ture? I mean, did they really cut out as much as that? I hope not! But, of coures, they probably did. They have to most of the other anime's I've seen. Guest Imsirion
Its most likely true, they did it to DBZ.
amiboshi
Ah well if they cut it. I saw the "unedited" dubbed version, and I still loved it, so that's all that matters to me. I don't care what they cut out, because I still liked it, darnit. ^^ Escaflowne is one of my favorite animes ever, too bad it was so short. Can't wait to see the movie. That's gonna be a weird one....:wigout:
ZeroBlade
Really depends on which version you saw Darkmoon.... If it was the English or something similar.....then you're right they edited it. When they aired it on FOX a few months ago they cut out LOTS of parts (they even did some audio work too). The funny thing was is that even with the editing, they canceled the show like 6 or 7 episodes later :) Guess too many parents got afraid of the show and did something about it. Seriously though, if you have the chance to see the Japanese version....take it. This anime is really cool and some the fight scenes are great. (Like the show where Van fights Dilandu's men by himself..... wow) As for the movie.....its basicly the story re-written. Many things are different...some bad, good, and a real nice addition. Certainly one to see for anyone who like Escaflowne
Darkmoon
I saw the english version. I saw the whole thing of it so at least I know how the story goes and ends. If I ever get a hold of the movie or the Japanese version of it I'll be sure to see it:)

You can have either just the DVD movie, or this awesome big pack that has 3 discs. The DVD, a multi-media disc, and the audio disc for the movie. I really want that because I LOVE the music from the movie, it's not quite as good as the series' music, but I still like it. Can't wait for July! Single H
I feel sorry for you guys...... I have Escaflowne Japanese version with English subtitle. The images are still fresh in my mind. I really fell in love for the first time...... The series was so touching and the plot is soo complicated. First episode, Hitomi and Amano was suppose to be couples but....... Last episode Yukari and Amano became couples instead...... and Allen gets his sister back.... spoiler(Dilandau is his sister!) I think the cut it because there's so much blood. One episode, Van gets seriously injured and he was screaming and blood was everywhere. Keep in mind this is a love story. One thing disturbes me is when Folken uses his technology to make Allen and Hitomi kiss and Van saw It all!!!!! Arrgh..... so much to say but I'll stop for now. You just spoiled the entire series for everyone..... But yeah, that was really sad when Van saw them kissing. I started crying, he just looked so sad! :bawl: The uncut version that was dubbed still had all that blood when his wounds were reflected....I loved that part, it was awesome. lol. That part of the series is pretty darn creepy....^^

[/B][/QUOTE] Damn guy why don't you tell us the rest of the shows while you're at it! Anyways, I'm surprized they even showed the part where Van was messed up. First time I saw that, (Japanese verison) I said "Holy....." I guess that means that the UK censors aren't as strict as the USA censors. This is the kind of love themed anime I like. Complex, and full of action. Not like Sailormoon where they stretched it so much it was unbearable. Hey Kaioshin, why can't you watch this show properly? Kids too young? :)

He loves it. Even the music, which is a big thing for him. He just finished watching the 'bloody Van' scene. But still, I didn't think it was really that bad, though I wonder what will happen when the story takes its little "Love story" twist......That's what I personally love about the show, however. You can't beat a show with action, some gore, a good romance, and some cute Bishonen.;)
Single H
You let your 8year old brother watch it? I wouldn't even let my 11year old brother see it. Something about he wouldn't understand and he'll starts asking questions. If he starts about the kissing part, I'll be in big trouble! (I illegally obtain the series using outside connections. My 'uncle' secretly bought it without my parent's approval.) Since my folks are old-fashioned they'll confiscate my anime collection.....

O.o My little bro always asks questions, too, so I told him he could only watch it if he's really quiet and doesn't say anything. But with Escaflowne, I don't mind, since I've already seen it. We watched it when we were camping, my dad even watched it with us. I love Dilandau....He's a Piro! Hahaha. lol. My brother thinks I'm nuts, he says Dilandau's a dork.....I almost hit him.....lol. (not really ^^):toothy:
VP-Master
Ya they did cut a lot of the FOX version of Escaflowne. It was still good (before it was cancelled) but you can only imagine how much better the actual version is. I prefer watching anime not on network cuz that's the only way I can see something uncut and unedited; the way it's ment to be. Most networks keep the heart of a show but it still ain't as cool as the original.
Kinetic
I got into anime right when this show was going off, so I saw about one episode. I was a really quiet child.....anyway, what I did see was awesome. And yes, networks cut out too much...way too much
amiboshi
I think that Escaflowne would have been a good way to introduce some other genres of anime to network-only-fans of anime. I heard that CN was suppose to be playing it, but it was evidently only a rumor. Which is a shame. But I suppose, even with all the action, since it's pretty high in romance, especially in the end, many younger viewers, especially the guys, would get bored with the show. But still, it should have been left on, if merely for introduction to different types of animes, not just fighting, which seems to be the prime type of anime......
