That's how I am, but I'm not in college yet. You must be really smart.

I don't think being smart is overrated, its just that some people might not be at that same level. In most cases people just don't won't to work for it. I commend all those who really try hard to do good in school. Don't take it the wrong way, two of my friends are as dumb as nails. That message wasn't directed at anyone specifically.

I get 1's and 2's (the equivalent of A's and B's) mostly. Though I'm trying to dig myself out of a whole in English right now. I have a 4 ( or a D as some may call it) because last semestar we read A Tale of Two Cities and: 1. I hate reading, and 2. My reading comprehension level is non-existent. So with a book like that obviously my grade it going to plummet throughout the whole book. I dropped from a 1 to a 5. I hate reading, though I don't understand why we are reading literature in English class. English is suppsoed to be about sentence structure and vocabulary, not about the different types of stories and prose out there...

My mom is a perfectionist freak. If I get a B she says "why not an A??"

When I get an A she says"why not an A+??" She drives me CRAZY.

Normally I get honor roll, but amazingly I got straight A's this term. She was happy but, if I dont do it again this term....

She is never satisfied.......

This year, I so far, I've only gotten one B in algrebra b/c I didn't study for the tests and most of your grade depends on tests. Then I got wise and started to study. haha.

Boba, I know a lot of people with parents like that. You have to explain to your mom that you're feeling pressured by her. She probably doesn't realize she's pressuring and bugging you. And, also, tell her that there's more important things in life than JUST grades. What about friends, helping people, FAMILY? What about those? I feel they are more important than grades(but that's just me)
and, while I'm talking about family(and friends), if you haven't told someone you care about that you love them, please do so. You never know what the day might bring, and what if you don't have the chance to say "I love you" one last time?(god forbid, though)

It's funny, most people who said they are A students typed "A's".... which is possessive, and thus implying the A owns something. There's no apostrophe when pluralizing A, no matter how weird it may look to you.
It doesn't have to be possessive, it could be a conjunction for "A is" lol. It still doesn't make sense. But hey, I never said I had an A in English :p Though I did... but we're not neccesarily learning about grammar right now.. or at any point this year. Though, in the case of "A's" if written as "As" it could very well be mistaken for the word "as". Cause when you read "As" you are most likley going to comprehend the word "as" and not think of it "as". Of course this only works with the letter grade "A". I do believe it is widely accepted to write plural letters down as "A's B's C's" because it helps distinguish between possible words that may come about (like "is" and "is"). I mean, rarely do I ever see plural letters written without the apostrophe. And when I do, it was written by an undereducated person. There are always going to be exceptions to the rules. If there wasn't, then it simply wouldn't be the English language :drunk:

I don't think As (especially with the A capitalized) would be confused with as too much, because they're different parts of speech and the sentence would make no sense.

I get as.

As I was walking down the street...

That book has been the death of me! I think I read maybe half of it, used cliff notes on the other half (just finished reading them, actually...) Ugh... :drunk:

As for school, I have always gotten As and Bs on my report card. I hate science, so those grades have always hovered around a B or B- (I give up because I don't understand it and I hate it), but English and foreign language have always been As.

I got my first C on a report card this year, (senior year...who gives a shiot!) in anatomy. Ergh! That class was horrible...I got an A the first nine weeks (semesters chopped in two), and a C the second nine weeks. I'm stupid because I just stopped trying.

This is what I figured...the teacher was really lazy, and while he WAS very smart, he chose to waste our time with stupid stuff and I hated it..."busy work" if you may. If he wasn't going to do his work for the class, then why should I do mine for him?

No offense to anyone in here, but I don't like teachers. They're just disagreable people...even though I know I have no REAL reason to dislike them...I just don't >_<

Well I actually am one of the few that likes school! I am a straight A student, first honors, and was ranked 7th in the highest GPA's of my school!

On top of that I have received Two Presidential awards! One from Clinton when he was president, and one from Bush when I graduated from High School! Also received the silver medal award from the computer science department! (Second best!)

So its a safe bet to say I'm a nerd/genius!;) :p

My grades for this past semester were all W's as in withdraw, I kinda got sick of school and withdrew half way into the semester...throughout highschool I got mainly A's, an occasional B would slip by (I did almost fail a semester of English because I didn't write two papers, my teacher let me make them up for half credit so I got a B).

College is kinda different. If I am interested in the class I make an A, if I am uninterested (which is what led me to withdraw this semester) in the class it just depends how much I happen to already know on test day or how well I BS on my papers (still haven't gotten under a C yet, boy am I lucky). Smart boy ;)

I did forget to mention that I've recently recieved some really wacky "academic recognition" awards lately. How the heck I'm still 39th in a class of 205 without hardly trying is beyond me. It also baffles me how I recieved both the Who's Who Among American High School Students award, how I was on the National Honor Roll, and how I manage to keep a GPA that is a 3.7 or above.

I HATE SCHOOL! SCHOOL NEEDS TO END! Hehe...9 more days until I leave...I just have to keep telling myself that :alcohol:

Well, then there's college and graduate school and all that good stuff. Don't worry, it NEVER ends!! Mwahahahaha!

My father use to beat me with a pair of bamboo rods until my back bled if I didn't get good grades. Well, I didn't get many good grades because school sucked and I didn't care any more. So needless to say I got beat quite frequently, and by the time I was in the 10th grade my back looked like ground beef. Now I'm 26 years old, and am using a prison computer. So I think you can guess what happened.

And it is official now. Plural letters are supposed to be written with an apostrophe. So people saying "A's" is correct. I asked my English teacher this morning :genius:
