But has any one noticed this will be the third year in a row he will be in the Guinness Book of Records for the largest donation. Is it just me or dose any one else see that link? zidane11
He probaly doesn't care that much about them. If I was that rich I'd be doing it too. He might just be trying to advertise or something.
The Harlequin
It's a publicity stunt. Besides, such donations are tax deductible.
Guest cloricus
He never used to give money away before me married his wife.
Sui Generis
I think Harlequin is right, its just a big publicity stunt to make him look caring and a trustworthy guy (Polititcs) and heck some taxes get deducted at the same time....Well I'll be damned...sounds like a win win situation to me! Fall
Him... donation.... record book.... O.o;; I seriously doubt that Bill Gates cares "too" much about the third world children, he probably wants to be in the record book, or it has something to do with advertising..... or something... :drunk: Don't get me wrong, but I don't exactly know a great deal about Bill Gates, but I've read a fair bit about him, and this is just on my impression.... Kent
i dont know, i think bill gates just like anyone else cares about people when he gets a dose of reality. i dont think he concearns himself with charity all the time, cause he doesnt really care. but, he has too in some ways. i am ashamed of him actually. he stood up to the goverment all that time and now the sec jesse jackson threatens him, he just gives in. for those that dont know, jesse jackson threatens companys of boycotts on a basis of labeling the person/company a racist. just ask toyota or coors or .... bill gates. if you can go read the book out now all about jesse called shake down. it will make you sick. bill is the richest, he should donate the most, he should put exstortionist in their place. Flash
Let's face it--Bill Gates should buy a country, pump a crap load of money into it, and take over the world. And if people don't like his ideas, he can use his Programming power to shut down all Computers in the world, and then we'll all be screwed. End of Story.
Without him, we'd probably have much more reliable Operating Systems -- and we'd probably have some kind of variety, rather than only having one major OS. Bill Gates isn't really the genius that many say -- Windows is based heavily on IBM's old visual OS (which was the world's first visual OS, by the way). Gates pretty much duplicated IBM's setup and then ran them out of the market. Gates is a ruthless businessman, I'll give him that. But he's no creative genius.
Roxie Faye
Hmm.... Gates giving to charity? I really can't say if this is a stunt of some kind, or maybe he really did it because he wanted to. yeah, yeah, you're all rolling your eyes thinking *Bill gates would NEVER do this because he wanted to, he did it for some publicity or something.* Well, don't know. I mean, all you see from famous people is just one part of their life- who knows, maybe he really did do it on his own. Weireder things have happened. On a side note, Madonna is the most giving to charity. Now i'm not sure if she's the most giving in the MUSIC business, or what, but my music teacher said she's the most giving to charity. and Michael Jackson comes in second. You'd NEVER think those two gave that much to charity, would you? and please, don't flame me for this post, it's just what I think. You don't have to agree with me, just don't flame me. Like the others say, he's only out for the adoration of the people and money. Lots and lots of money.
