Spyder fell quickly asleep, but was rudely awakened a moment later by the left wall of the apartment collapsing outwards and a large, hovering gargoyle replaced it.

Gargoyle: You must come with me now.

Spyder: Why?

Gargoyle: The Lord has summoned you. It sems your recent actions have not gone according to His divine plans.

Spyder: I don't care - The Lord disowned me.

Davien: What is going on? Who is "the Lord"?

Spyder: Prince of Darkness, satan, whatever. Not god.

Davien: Ahh. (to gargoyle) I will deliver her to your Lord in the correct time. Leave us.

The gargoyle, a mere messenger, obeyed the command. The wall was restored.

Spyder: You aren't actually going to take me there, are you?

Davein: Of course not. I don't know how. You will be taking me there.

Spyder: What? Why?

Davien: No, you tell me why.

Spyder sighs and leans back into his arms.

OOC: Christ. I go away for a week, and look what I come back to. And people call me insane.

IC:Davien pondered the gargoyle's message. He was wary of the dark one, he had been since their last meeting. Davien had been to hell. Unwittingly. He had made it back. Crazed and nearly dead. But he had survived. Many denizens of the lower planes had not. Davien smiled in the darkness, a wolfish grin rowed with teeth.

Davien: Damaged people are dangerous. They know they can survive.

Cathos sat up in his hospital bed. He had just woke from a nightmare, Davien had returned to pick up Cathos, but walked in and killed him. Cathos was still shaking from this torment in his subconscious. He got up, it had been some time since he arrived in the hospital and his wounds had healed. The first thing he did was ask the nurse where he could find a phone and she was happy to oblige. He dialed the number for the apartment. It rang a few times, but no one answered. Little did Cathos know that Davien was lying almost unconscious just below the table. Cathos hung up the phone, thinking it would be better to go to him, rather than wait. Cathos left the hospital, not after calling a taxi, and headed for the apartment.

 • 2 weeks later...
Davien was nearly asleep, Spyder a comforting warmth in his arms, when the door resounded under heaving knocking. He called out, and Cathos walked in. He looked pretty messed up. Davien gently laid Spyder down, and walked out of the bedroom, closing the door behind him.

Davien: Are you alright? What the hell happened?

Cathos: Well, I was leaving, but my train somewhat... died.

Davien: Ouch. When did you get out of hospital?

Cathos: Just then. Don't suppose you've got another place to sleep around here?

Davien: You've been here before remember.

Cathos: Oh. Ahem.

Davien: Yes, Spyder's sleeping with me.

Cathos: Oh. Sorry. I'll be asleep then. Heavily. Very heavily. You sly old dog...

Davien: Oh shut up.

Cathos laughs and walks out. Davien returns to his room, lying down beside his love and again wrapping his arms around her, drifting slowly into sleep.

Spyder lies wide awake and perfectly relaxed in her god's arms, the perfect state for inner reflectiong and deep meditation. She opened her mind and let it wander over everything in the room, feeling the tendrils slip over the fabric of the bed, the soft curves of Davien's body, and finally the angles and placement of the whole building. Hundreds of minds swarmed, paced, sat, slept, stood, lounged, lay, laughed, cried, made love and war. Cats dozed in the sunshine. Cathos lay fretfully in the next room, trying to forget his pain. An arm of her mind curled protectivly around him and he sank without protest into a deep sleep. Davien dreamt of sex and darkness. The woman above them watched television thoughtlessly, worriedly feeling a small lump on the underside of her breast. A small boy in the next apartment played with toy cars. A teenage boy stood in the alleyway, a coathanger in his left hand, a half-full bottle of smirnoff in his right. Spyder looked through his eyes and found to be eyeing the car, thoughfully, determined. She retracted her mind and stabbed at him with it, he slumped sideways and fell dead against the slimy brick wall. The bottle was not broken. She considered getting it, then changed her mind as Davien stirred in his sleep against her, sending pleasurable elecric feelings down her spine.
Spyder withdrew her mind from the apartment complex and instead threaded her mind into one thin tendril. She turned her head and stared at her lover, caressing his face with it in her mind before pushing it through his left temple and closing her eyes, exploring his mind. What a violation of privacy, she thought. He isn't going to be complaining. Dreams, fitful, a stage of dreams, the thick black curtain veiling the Desolation beyond. Home, childhood, trees, the trampoline. Vinegar. Re class. Letters. Blood. Cuts, thousand of tiny cuts to the skin, deeper, flesh, bone. A torso on an operation table. Flashbacks of violent illnesses. The bite. Running away, here, alone. Alone. Spyder. Sex.
Spyder sifted thought the thoughts and memories and pulled the erotic ones to the front. he concentrated on the subconciously. Then she planted some of her own, premonitions, and mixed it with thoughts of torture and infliction of pain. Retacting her mind from his once more, she rolled Davien onto his back and climbed on top of him, bringing him out of his sleep and making his dreams come true. She knew how to get what she wanted.

OOC: I like that, but I somehow doubt anyone else does.

IC:Shocked into the most pleasurable awakening he could imagine, Davien waited along time before finishing it, wanting to pleasure Spyder more than himself. And succeeding to, much to Cathos's likely discomfort.

Afterwards, they lay in each other's arms, Davien murmering softly to her about how she didn't need to get inside his head to make him do that to her.

Spyder: Are you complaining?

Davien: Not at all.

OOC: We must be vampyres then. I too would like to add my apologies, but I'll make it a blanket apology. I formally offer my condolances to all members of this rpg, and doubly so to anyone who read it, not expecting to encounter something like that. My apologies also go out especially strongly to Jesus Chicken and Liamc2, who are unfortunate enough to know us. No further comment until the storyline resumes.

Spyder turns ehr concentration to the gargoyle's visit and Davien senses it, looking at her intently.

Spyder: Have you been to hell before?

Davien: Once. I didn't return in one piece, however.

Spyder: I don't belong there any more. I don't belong anywhere.

Davien: You belong here.

Spyder: no, I don't. Unless this is another realm altogether...

Davien: May I ask you something?

Spyder: You just did.

Davien(ignoring her): What was it that you had wanted to do all your life?

Spyder: Die.

Davien: And you were never given that option?

Spyder: Once. I talked to the "God/ess" and asked her why I had never been allowed.

Davien: What did she say?

Spyder: She told me that I did not want to anymore, and am thus glad that I never did. I spat in her face and she bowed to me, as was expected from something that doesn't exist. The devil, however...

Davien: Take me there. I need to speak with him anyway.

Spyder's protests die on her lips, as she looks deep into Davien's eyes. She sighs, and bows her head.

A scintillating envelopes them both, flashes of this realm in the next melding into a darkened version of death. Emotion and memory spin joyful dances around them, interpersed with sorrow of ages.

They open their eyes at the same time, back in the familiar, stunted landscape that comprised the circles of hell.

Davien: Well then. Never thought I'd come back here. Shall we go my love.

OOC: Well then, for the first time in god-knows-when, I'm actually able to post. I'll make this short.

*~*~~``

Alpha and Mangus returned to the house, weary, shell-shocked, but alive ? at least by their definition . . .

"Well then, it seems like we?re in a ickle bit more trouble than we asked for, aren?t we?"

Mangus?s cheeriness was grating on Alpha?s nerves. "Oh can?t you shut the bloody hell up?!" Alpha snapped in Mangus?s direction.

Ouch. Obviously Mazine?s appearance was really affecting Alpha. And with the Slayer in La-La Land . . .

"How do you think Summer ? or whatever she ? it ? is ? is faring?"

Alpha shrugged in response. "Things are getting serious Mangus. We need our Slayer back, and we need her back NOW!" With that said, Alpha stormed up the stairs in search of Summer, whether to talk, or reduce her into a mound of quivering gelatinous goo, Mangus didn?t know.

The phone rang. Mangus didn?t know why he even had a phone in this place; no one even called . . .

. . . he picked the phone up, and before he even had a chance to say hello, a young, slightly bossy voice broke through.

"Oh for God?s sake, pick up the damn fu ? oh hello. I think it would be best to open that front door of yours now, quite chipper outside! And be careful, it?s almost dawn now luv."

The line cut off. Mangus stared at the phone for a second, then put it back on the hook.

The same bossy voice from the phone call came wafting through the wooden door. "Open the bloody door you wanker! I?m not staying out here all bloody day!"

There was something commanding in that voice, and when Mangus opened the door, he found out why.

On the stoop, a young woman with brilliant red hair, and emerald green eyes stood, her hands on her hips. "It?s about time! You stood there dilly-dallying while your Slayer and your other friend are in trouble! Now, if you?ll excuse me . . . " She brushed past Mangus, and into the house.

Mangus just stared after her.

Spyder stood and looked around her. She sighed, annoyed at the lack of anything to breathe and the lack of sound and light. She closed her eyes and reached into her own memory, fumbling for Davien's hand and walking flawlessly into the nothingness. The end was close here, she could feel it. It was like walking along the edge of a cliff. She held his hand tighter and continued.

Summer sat, hidden in the shadows of a gas station. The Boston was only across the road and down about 10 feet. It felt like a thousand miles to Summer.

Saethi sat behind Summer, fiddling with his sunglasses. After the fight, he had been as still as death. When Summer had looked back, Saethi had the expression on his face like he had been hit in the back of the head with a Whiffle Bat a couple hundred times.

Summer bounced on her heels. To her younger soul, seeing such freedom like this was only reminding her of what horrible future this was, but to the older, freedom was a thing that she wanted so badly, yet couldn?t reach. Not yet.

A small group of teenagers walked down the street in the opposite direction, oblivious that they were on the outskirts of a town of terror. Summer could have been one of those people. On a happier day, when this future didn?t exist . . . she could have ?

"I see at least a dozen or so, you?" Saethi?s voice broke through Summer?s thoughts like a knife.

She looked over at the half dozen black cars lining the street. No extraction team, but plenty of vampires were lounging around the cars, waiting for either Summer and Saethi, the extraction team, or both.

Most of the vampires she had never seen before; minions that the vampires thought were worthy to belong to the collective.

But there was brunette, but still bubbly Harmony, and Clowndog, who had helped in capturing Summer, and sticking her in that itty bitty bloody cell.

Summer scanned the faces, one by one, weeping silently when she saw her friends, and growling when she recognized several others that had hunted her ruthlessly.

Death was not forgiving.

But Summer was worse than death.

She sprinted the twenty yards to the gas pumps and crouched down, surveying the crowd. None seemed afraid, no indication that they knew what was coming. They were laughing merrily, enjoying themselves.

That infuriated Summer. They terrorize her town, supposedly kill off her friends, and then pretend nothing happened. Way low.

The tugging on her soul to be free, and seek some form of justice was strong, and when she couldn?t stand it any longer, she sprinted towards the street.

A strangled cry from Saethi, as the shouting started. Summer grimaced.

She had been too conservative. There were enough that she couldn?t count them at one glance, and she was going to have to fight them. All of them.

Shoulda waited for the extraction team. She cursed herself for her arrogance and impatience. This wasn?t the first time they had gotten her in trouble . . .

Not the first, but maybe the last.

I'll finish this ickle postie when I find the inspiration.

*~*~~``

The front door of the head car opened, and Mazine slipped out. An unlit cigarette dangled from one side of her mouth, a black trenchcoat billowing behind her like some twisted cloak of darkness as she strode purposely toward Summer.

"You killed him," she said, not even bothering to look at Summer.

A hate Summer never knew was there rose up, and she could taste bile in her throat. She glared, remaining silent, until Mazine looked up at her.

"I?m sure it didn?t hurt," Summer managed through clenched teeth. She wasn?t going to let Mazine get the upper hand.

Mazine?s face grew cold. "Kill her."

Several vampires looked nervous, and one spoke up. "We?re not . . . supposed to . . . you know . . . "

"Oh bloody hell! Right, then, bring her to me."

This was it. 4 years of shadowboxing and private meditation, of anger and exercise, all balled up into this battle. "Come and get me," Summer mumbled, and then unloaded the crossbow into several vampires, before they got too close for her to use it.

The crossbow clattered to the ground, as Summer drew a stake from the band of the gray sweatpants she had found in the duffel. They surrounded her, and all at once, Summer and they started to move.

Kicking, spinning, thrusting, ducking, Summer used the vampire?s numbers against them, drawing some closer to shove some back.

A bullet embedded itself in her shoulder, but still she didn?t stop. Where Saethi was, Summer couldn?t tell. All was lost in the confusion.

A sword pierced her thigh, but she was in motion, the owner dead before he could do Summer any more harm.

Then she had the sword, and vampires were dust left and right, the nuclear fallout of the slain undead. It stung Summer?s eyes and forced her to hold her breath.

A voice shouted out her name, and she stopped for a moment. That was her fatal mistake. A bullet wound through her back, a club at the back of her head.

Summer staggered. Fell to her knees, the sword wavering in her hands.

Mazine stood over her, an ax in her hands. "So much for not killing you eh?" she asked sweetly. Then she snarled, and raised the ax higher. "You killed him, you b*tch. You killed my brother! Let?s see if this hurts."

All the others stepped back, but none challenged Mazine?s actions. Even though she was dazed from the loss of blood, Summer looked around the circle. Saethi was there, struggling in the grip of several vampires. Summer had killed a dozen or so. That was good. That was something.

But it was not going to let her break the first rule of Slaying. Mazine raised the battle-ax to the highest, and Summer knew she was going to die. Faintly, most likely somewhere in the club?s parking lot, people, normal humans, cried out in alarm at the grotesque, macabre tableau being played out in the street.

But they were on the other side of the border; they couldn?t help anyone now.

The blade fell toward Summer, and the vampires seemed to move back one step farther. There seemed to be more now, maybe reinforcements.

Summer tried to lift the sword, and Saethi called out her name once more.

Mazine grinned.

Then her eyes went wide, and the unused cigarette fell end over end onto the pavement. Her body jittered a little, and she dropped the ax and stumbled toward Summer. Summer aimed the blade of the sword at Mazine, and it sliced right through her abdomen, impaling her.

"Kill them!" the vampires screamed.

That woke Summer up. ?Kill who??

She shoved a moaning Mazine off of her, and stood. The vampires closest to her attacked. Even though she was dazed, wounded, and slowed, she still spun and decapitated the nearest one, who exploded into dust.

She elbowed another, but a third reached out and started choking her.

This time, she felt the electricity pass through the vampire and to her. She felt her muscles contract, her eyes go wide, and her mouth feel like she had just bitten through aluminum foil.

The vampire went down at Summer?s feet, and she found herself looking into the eyes of a grim-faced man. A crescent shaped scar traced down his cheek, cutting into the stubble on his chin.

He tasered the vampire again, then looked up at Summer. "We need to go."

Summer pulled in a short gasp of air, which burned in her lungs. Joy and pain clashed inside her as she recognized the man before her. "Mangus? Oh god, Mangus."

He grabbed her arm, and started pulling her. Vampires were surrounding them, but were being driven back by taser guns and crossbows.

Headlights gleamed, and several black vans screeched into the battle. They slewed sideways, and vampires, armed and ready, piled out of the van.

"Go! Get the Slayer to safety!" snapped a commanding voice behind her.

Summer turned, and saw the extraction team fighting, but now withdrawing. The command had come from a woman with long red hair tied back in a ponytail. The lithe woman raised her hands, gestured madly, and cried out something in Latin that Summer didn?t understand. Three vampires within several feet of her turned to glass, and another member of the team shattered them all.

The newly arrived vampires rushed into the fray, and the woman?s attention was directed elsewhere. Summer pulled away, to go back and help, but Mangus grabbed her, surprising her with his strength. "We?re not here to battle. We?re here to get you out."

"But -- what about Saethi?!"

"We have him."

For a long moment, Summer just watched. The woman set a pair of vampires on fire just by touching them. Then she creamed out a name that Summer didn?t recognize.

"Michela!"

In the midst of the melee came a sudden howl that made the hairs on the back of Summer?s neck stand on end. Amidst the vampires, one of the members of the team changed in an instant.

The panther raged, its black snout glistening, ears twitching, teeth gnashing at the air as it charged at the vampiric group. Clowndog was in the lead, white greasepaint glowing in the dark, and the panther rose up on its hind legs, grabbed the vampire, and tore his head off.

It began to attack others, using powerful jaws and claws to tear into them, but then the woman in charge shouted for them all to fall back. The extraction team complied instantly. Mangus hauled on Summer?s arm, and then she was running toward the club?s parking lot, mind spinning, almost blacking out. This was just too much for her.

Several sedans and one large van, all black, sat in the parking lot. Summer had never noticed them before. She found herself being pushed roughly into the backseat of a sedan, and then Saethi and another guy following her in. Mangus jumped into the driver?s seat, and started the car.

Through the tinted windows, Summer could see that the vampires were giving chase, but only for a few seconds. The team loaded into the military transport, as the red headed woman dived into the front seat. She turned and faced Summer, grinning widely.

Summer smiled weakly, then shifted, her blood sticky on the leather seat. "Mazine? You get her?"

The woman shook her head. ?Nope. She?s always one to save her own *ss first." She then glanced at Mangus. "Let?s get moving."

He complied instantly, tearing out of the club?s parking lot with the other sedan and troop van close behind. As they went, Summer craned her neck to look out the rear window. The vampires who had survived were also retreating. They had climbed into their cars, both those that had been on sentry, and the late arrivals, and begun to return the way they had come, as though the carnage had never happened, as though the people in the parking lot had not witnessed something horrible.

One car had not moved. It seemed aimed at them, headlights on high beam. There were several hundred yards away now, but Summer could make out the form of a woman standing in front of the car, her body, full and feminine, silhouetted by the harsh lights, backlit so it seemed more like a dark hole in the air than a woman, like a thing of darkness painted over the face of the world.

Whoever she was, she stood calmly and watched them drive away.

Summer shivered, there in the car, in the presence of people she barely knew, and as the figure stepped out of sight behind them, she thought of the feeling she had in the projection room of the drive-in. She thought of the crossbow that had been left there, just for her.

The two spirits that coexisted within Summer exulted. She was free. Yet somehow she felt her fear even more keenly than before, and a terrible dread was born within her.

Saethi sat and wiped the blood off his knuckles, Summer took a quick glance and noticed a scar on each knuckle. Saethi looked at her then folded his arms and looked out the window. The transformation had been brief and small this time, the bony blades had erupted from his knuckles but vanished as quickly as they came. Summer may have conquered her internal daemons, but Saethi?s were still raging. The human side in him had called out to Summer during the battle, gained control, but it weakened the rest of him, leaving him helpless. Saethi looked at his reflection in the window, cracking his knuckles at the sight of blue swirling in the cold steel grey.

There hadn?t been much blood in the vampyres he killed, less than a hundred millilitres all up, he needed some now. He glanced at Summer then at the others in the car. He should have taken the offer before...all this goodness crap was pointless. Why bother to live if it means a padded cell? He glanced at Mangus, he knew that?s where they were taking him. The power to read ones mind can be very useful, even if you cannot control it. Saethi glared at Mangus. He did not want to live out his meagre life imprisoned in some institution while people in lab coats perform twisted experiments on his body.

?Greater good my a??.?

Saethi glared at Mangus constantly, all the while thinking the one sentence over and over. After a few minutes something clicked, and Mangus hit the brakes to turn around and see two cold eyes glaring back at him. Mangus looked surprised, shocked even, Summer looked at Saethi as well as did the woman in front.

?You heard me Mangus. Greater good my a???

Summer raised an eyebrow and looked at Mangus questioningly. Mangus stared blankly back, mind ticking over an answer before he spoke
?I have no idea what he?s talking about...care to enlighten us Saethi?? His voice was shaky, Summer could tell something was up but said nothing and raised an eyebrow.

?Very amusing Mangus, unfortunately for you, other than the demonic transformations that I?m sure you already know about, I have inherited another, lets say...useful gift.? Saethi turned to Summer ?I?m sure you are wondering why their rescue was so late in its forthcoming, well I had this theory, and now I?ve verified it. Those bästards have been watching us since the transformation, but rather then coming to save us, they decided on waiting a while until they though they would have the resources to overpower my dark side and Mazine. Wait until I faltered or she made a mistake, who cares if ickle Summer gets a little banged up? As long as they have their hybrid beast to test on, it?ll be alright. Isn?t that right Mangus??

Mangus had remained silent through it all, finally he nodded, and Summer took a shock silence
?Its true,? he said, ?Most of it anyway...and we were taking Saethi to be locked up...prevent you from being harmed you see Summer...just to protect you...?

Saethi smirked while Summer continued to remain surprised. He took a breath and raised his knuckles to show that they were bleeding profusely again.

?Oh dear,? he said with malice, ?its happening again. Whatever will I do? I could control it and save my friends,? a cold shudder rippled through the car, ?or I could have myself a little fun. Who cares if I die? It will only take me closer to my true allies?

Saethi broke open the door, leaving a smear of blood on the handle. He continued to walk away and across to a car parked on the street. The people in the cars took a stunned silence, then the woman snapped them out of it when she gave an order through the radio to take Saethi down by ?any means necessary.?

Saethi ripped the door off the car while his body continued to transform. The doors of the black sedans started to open while vamps armed with shotguns and crossbows climbed out. Saethi merely laughed and gunned the engine, flooring it and driving back over the border while a hail of ammunition followed fiercely behind.

The dark side beckoned and Saethi was about to take the call

ooc: hiya guys. Wow this thing is getting very interesting. I can't really think of where to post. Past future or present....hmmm that's given me an idea.

IC: the corridor was long and dark. everything was in disarry. a few old and dusty bones were scatered around and blood streaked along the walls. a young girl was being dragged along through this place, screams of protest and tears of fear running down her cheeks. but nothing worked on the two guards that dragged her along. her white dress was ripped and torn. nothing seemed real any more.

two large heavy doors were opened by two recent kills the girl noticed and then they entered a large room. it was square and appeared to be quite normal but on closer inspection anyone could discover that this was a place of death. cages hung off the celin(sp) and chains draped off the walls. but there was no blood present, or at least no human blood.

the girl was dragged to a table and locked on. the two guards almost looked appolgetically at her before turning away. the girl fought against the locks but to no avil. she knew that she was being blamed, but there was nothing that could save her now, and she knew it.

OOC: Eh, Sarsy-chan? Nice to have you back, but er . . . where in the heck are you going with this? And to make you happy, I'm almost to your character in the future so you can start posting there. Happiness? ^^

Oy, Liam, "friendly" little piece of advice: Not everyone is a vampire. You state yourself that there are several vampires on the "good" side, but even though I know you couldn't have known this, there are only two vampires in the complex: Mangus and Alpha. Everyone else is human or something that would resemble one. Er . . . ok. However, with the "bad guys" you can have vampires abound. With the occasional human, whether they've sided and have power, or are there because the vampires are using them for feeding or "fun". Have at because I'm still working on that so it's pretty much free territory.

Yay. That was long. Onto the story.

*~*~~``

Summer slammed a fist into the side of the car. She heard several cracks, but didn't bother to care. "Dammit! God bloody dammit!"

"We had to, Summer. He's dangerous. We didn't know what would happen to you if he changed!" The woman in the front seat pushed on the door. "Now get in and we'll discuss this later."

Summer kicked the door shut, placing yet another dent in the car. "You have no right to tell me to get in the car! I could have taken care of myself! I am the bloody Slayer for god's sake! They didn't keep me in a bloody cell for bloody nothing!"

At that, the red head climbed out of the car, her green eyes flashing. "I have the right because I am your Watcher! You will listen to me or I'll make you listen to me! Understand?!"

Summer stepped back, astounded. "Hold up. You just said "Watcher". Th -- that means . . . " Summer shook her head. "Rhea's dead, isn't she? That's why you're here. Did you find her body? What did they do?"

"There's no time for that Summer. Now please," the woman opened the door, "just get in the car. We'll talk there."

Summer looked over her shoulder. "Don't ya think . . ."

"That we should go after him? No. We should have known it would be too late. Regardless of what you might think, Summer, he was going to change whether we helped him or not. We were just hoping to get to him first."

"You know where he might go, don't you. Why don't you follow him?"

"Because two of the most powerful vampires that ever existed are there, Summer. They have the intelligence, the cunning, the thirst for blood that no vampire has ever had. Even you wouldn't have a chance against both of them at once. Now, please, get in the car."

Summer complied silently, and smiled when the person next to her held out his hand.

"Hey. The name's Dale. Nice to meet ya."

Summer took his hand, her smile wavering. His hands were cold . . . "You a part of the complex?"

Dale shook his head. "Nope. A vampire was going to make me a meal, when I found it dust, and me being thrown into a car with you. And that other guy," he added quickly.

"Well then! I hope you'll be able to stay with us for a while! Mangus, is there room for the newcomer?" Summer reached for the doorhandle, but then pulled back. Blood on the handle. She turned away, sick.

Mangus glanced back at Summer. "Your friend can have Saethi's room." At Summer's surprised sound, he continued, "Seems he can only read surface thoughts. True, we were going to lock him up, but it was only until we figured out just what made the vampiric side of him tick. We had found the demon that had tried to change him. By a genetic twist of fate, she managed to become fully demon."

"If Saethi has a mix of all three: human, vampire, and demon, that will make him much more powerful than he already is. There's no telling what he'd be able to do." The Watcher slid into the front seat once again.

A head popped into the frame of the open backseat door. "Hey, are you guys having some car trouble here?" The other girl looked at Summer. "Hey lookie! The Slayer! Nice to meet ya! Michela Somasi: Vengence Demon at your service."

The Watcher chuckled. "Almost Ex-Vengence Demon you mean, Michela."

Michela looked sheepish. "Hey, it's not my fault that D?Hoffryn decided to join the "bad guys", Tasya."

Tasya sighed. "It really wasn't his choice. Power within the dark, or death from the light. What would you choose?"

Summer spoke up. "Tasya, huh? Now I'll know what to name my voodo dolly whenever I get mad at you."

Michela smiled, then put a hand on the doorframe. "So, we all done here?" She closed the door, but Summer could still hear her through the window. "Ok people! Let's blow this popsicle stand! Move it out!"

"Let's get going, shall we? The Council will be waiting for our arrival. Ready, Summer?" Tasya looked back at Summer.

She gave the thumbs-up. "As I'll ever be. Hey, you guys have hot water? I have the aching need to be clean."

They started off.

OOC: Okie doke, bear with me now ok? I made some changes to this.

------

A final volley of shots tore through the air and back tyres of the car. Sparks flew as the car slid on its rims.

The last car in the chain waited to see what would happen, they wouldn't be dissapointed.

Saethi ignored the intense screeching to change gear and pull a shard of glass from his cheek, last memento of the rear windscreen. His hands slipped on the blood soaked wheel as the car teetered on two wheels for a few seconds. The spikes protruding from his knuckles leaked more blackish crimson blood. The mutation was accelerating at an alarming rate, barbs jutted out his arms and down his spine, ripping the leather seat. Saethi winced with the pain, a cloud of blood blurred his vision, he was getting dizzy. The putrid smell of drying blood wafted to his nostrils from his sticky once-orange shirt.

Another bony thorn sent a spasm running up his chest, Saethi blinked the blood from his eyes in time to see the brick wall rushing to meet him.

~~~~~~~~
?I?m surprised the bästard survived the accident, in one piece and conscious to top it off.? Mangus and Summer sat peering through a two way mirror at the still bleeding Saethi.
Summer raised an eyebrow. The council meeting had been suddenly delayed when one of the cars turned up with Saethi chained to the max, she wasn't all that happy with it either.
?So he was right, you were going to put him in a little padded cell.? Mangus fidgeted and Summed became preoccupied with the mug she was holding.
?Well we couldn?t afford to have another running around now could we?? Mangus blanched suddenly when he realised he said too much. Summer raised he gaze, face grim,
?So I thought,? Summer sighed, ?Bloody hell. So I take it this time?s Saethi has fully transformed. Like what Tasya said?
?About right. 25 and clinically insane. Lives underground in Mazine?s territory, eats anyone and anything that comes near him. We?ve lost many a squad trying to bring him down, but its like he?s friggin? invincible. Mazine?s had her share of bad luck too. That?s why we can?t afford to have him free? Mangus rose and led Summer through to a bank of computers. One of the screens bore old newspaper articles while on others strands of DNA rotated slowly.
Mangus brought up a newspaper article, dated seven years ago. ?Man found ripped in half, case of extreme anaemia. Witnesses at the scene claim to have seen a blue-haired teenager on a motorbike render his corpse asunder.? Mangus closed the screen an opened another. ?Hospital records, admitted with nine shots to the chest, left the same day under his own steam. The police have been looking for him since.?
Summer chuckled to herself as she recapped the nights events. The same, somewhat quiet Saethi causing all this mayhem. Amusing really, but they had to kill him, or do something to get him back to normal again, before it?s too late.
?Right, lets stake him now.?
?Its not that easy Summer. You for one should know that. You saw what he did to those squads. Its his DNA,? Magnus ignored Summer?s derisive snort, ?no I?m serious Summer. Dead serious. This guy is a literal catalyst of DNA. The human DNA in him overrides the vampyric aversion to sunlight and weakness to wood. In turn the vampyric raw power is fuelling the human side.
?What about the third strand then? Demonic?? Summer pointed to the silently twirling red thread. Mangus cleared his throat,
?Yup, it?s what?s causing the mutation. Don?t ask me how it got in there, but it?s sitting nicely with the others. Not to mention the chromosomes point out it?s a female strand, the make up totally different from Saethi.?
?You mean that Saethi was sired by a demoness? You?ve got to be bloody joking!?
Mangus shook his head. ?No, not by a demoness. Vampiress. The theory is that the girl that got him was killed halfway through the process, leaving Saethi in limbo. Well as we all know bad little vampires go to hell, well this one must have been so bad she was given a second chance, and a demonic form.?
By now Summer had caught onto the line of thinking, ?so when she was transformed, so was her blood in Saethi somehow...leaving him totally messed up...?
Mangus nodded and gazed intently at the video feed coming from Saethi?s cell. ?What I?d give to see what?s going inside that messed up mind of his.?
Summer nodded and watched the screen. As if on cue, Saethi looked up and gazed intently back. He blinked, once, twice, then Summer swore loudly and looked at Mangus. Mangus looked back worried, ?What? What is it??
Summer glanced back at the display, ?Look at his eyes Mangus, look at his bloody eyes. The fights almost gone, he?s turning right now. If we don?t snap him out of it soon we?re all going to be screwed.?
Saethi glared at the camera in the corner of his cell, obsidian eyes blinking. He blinked again, focusing, the camera began to melt, sparking violently and giving off an acrid stench. Saethi smirked. Soon enough. .
Spyder and Davien continued through the darkness until suddenly a visage flashed around them. They were standing in a room, a plain room with white walls and grey carpet and grey venetians and grey furniture and a grey painting on the far wall. Davien looked at Spyder questioningly. She shrugged.
Spyder: I don't know, it's different every time... most of the time it's the whole cave thing, every now and then you get a supermarket or a construction site.
A man walked in the open doorway, the sounds of phone conversations and typing wafting in after him. He was short, had grey hair and was wearing a right red suit. Spyder laughed when she saw him.
Spyder: You have got to be joking!
Prince Of Darkness: Hey, don't look at me. It's your perception.
Spyder ahhed and hmmed as the devil busied himself with some paperwork that obviously did not serve any purpose and probably didn't even exist.
POD: I see that you... umm... why exactly are you here?
Davien: Winged messenger of the stone variety.
POD: Not mine... you may be in the place.
Spyder: I KNOW I am in the wrong place. But you brought us here, so do whatever and let us out.
POD: Hmmm.... Ok, so I did bring you here. But I can't for the devil of me remember why...
Spyder: Ha ha.
She brings out her dagger and leaps forward, pinning his tie to the desk with it.
Spyder: Don't mess around with us, I know as well as you that you exist no more than God/ess does. Belief. That is all. You expect me to believe this ********? She gestures around the room, and it vanishes, leaving Davien and her in the darkness. What do you want from us, creep?
POD: Vampyres. All of them. I want them to be mine. You are the only one of my own that has strong ties into that world. You know how to get them here, so do so. Starting with him...
Davien suddenly gasps and collapses sideways. Spyder grasps him tightly and screams. The devil laughed.
Spyder: You cannot have me without him. I am not one of you anyway!
POD: Technically, you are.
Spyder: You can't do that. If anyone here need to abide the laws, it's you... your existance counts on it. I am his, no one elses.
POD: And once he is mine, you will be too.
Spyder: **** OFF DAMMIT!!!!
ooc: You'll see Sere, you'll see. I'm basically doing a little flash-thing, you'll probably work it out after this post.
IC:
(and to continue confusing you Sere)
the girl heard a door open and a tall lady walked into the room. she wore a long black dress and had very long black hair that reached the floor. her eyes where pale and showed anger in every part of them.
Lady: Well, if it isn't my FIRST(that's a hint) kill, and also my first betrayer.
girl: I'd never betray you M'lady. Never. I've always follwed your orders, always without question. please let me go, I'll find the real rebellers and bring them before you
lady: huh...do you think I am that blind, My first? I know your mind, your far to cunning for your own good. You caused the others to rebelle and then denighed it. your fate will be so horibble that you will wish that you were never turned into my servant(another hint)
the lady turned and moutioned to two new vampires to bring foreward something. the girl pushed herself back onto the table but knew there was no escape for her now.
ooc: Sere if you can't get who the girl is, then something is up. I'll give you another shot at working it out with another clue next time, if you haven't already worked it out.
OOC: Ok, ok, I get it. The first one really didn't make any sense. I won't go any farther, because I'll start snipping at your grammar (Bad habits at work!). Alpha, right? However, I've (god knows how. I think too much.) found a little problem. You said that Alpha was locked in a cross for god knows how many years. I've thought about it for a while, and also confirmed this with my sister (Buffy guru, all hail my sister): for one, wouldn't Alpha burn? Because yeah, a cross has the power to ward off a vampire, but touch a vampire with one, or (er, never been tried so I can't be for sure) get locked in one, they would burn. Get a large enough cross, and I guess they would burn long enough to become dust. And if THAT didn't work, how is Alpha going to feed? Most think that vampires feed because they get a kick out of it, or feed just because it's the "classic" vampire thing. They don't. They need the blood (don't ask me why, my sister the Buffy guru has explained all this to me) and if Alpha is chained, how is she going to feed? Told you I think too much.
And now that I have managed to point out absolutely nothing in that many words, I think I'll stop and start something else . . . right after I take some Ibuprofen.
Summer was tempted to slam a hand into the nearest available object, but since only one of her broken knuckles had healed at that point, that option was out. She settled for a stream of loud swearing.
Mangus clamped his hand over her mouth. "God, you kissed your aunt with that mouth?" Summer wriggled out of his grasp as he looked over at the blank screen. "What do you suppo--just what do you think you?re doing?"
Summer stood outside the door to Saethi?s room, a frown etched into her features. She flexed her knuckles, testing them, finding her limitations. Knowing her weaknesses, looking for her strengths . . . "I'm gonna kill him. If I have to rip out his heart with my bare hands, I'll do it, but I'm gonna kill the bloody wanker, human, vampire, or demon he is. I'm gonna fight him, and he's gonna die. It's either him, or me, Mangus." She laid an unsteady hand on the doorhandle. "Him or me," she echoed herself quietly, eyes closed, and a long unused prayer running through her head.
Mangus stared at her for moment. "Won't you need a weapon?"
"Nope. He has no weapons, I'll have no weapons. Slayer against vampire. That's how it's gonna go." She pushed the door open and stepped into the room.
Saethi turned to look at her, obsidian eyes blank and uncaring, echoing the expression on his face. He moved to get up, and then stopped . . .
. . . and didn't move. Not a blink, not a breath. Nothing.
Summer stepped in farther, and then noticed the man standing in a corner, un-lit cig dangling from a corner of his mouth
He whistled, and pulled the cigarette from his mouth, pocketing it. "Man, you Slayers make the job of being immortal worth my time. Never change, do ya? Good for me."
Summer slammed him up against the wall, her hand on his throat. "Ok. First off, what's your name and second off, what're you doing here?!"
He held out his hand, but Summer didn't notice. Or care. "Name's Whistler. Demon. Ain't good, but ain't bad either."
Summer let off the pressure, and he reached up a hand and massaged his neck.
"Nice grip."
"Ok, you're a demon? Lettme guess: Immortal demon sent to even the score between good and evil, right?"
"Good guess. Woah, deja vu."
"Why are you here?" Summer put her hands on her hips, irritated.
Whistler pointed toward Saethi. "What else? To help the kid. He's supposed to be fightin' evil, not bein' evil."
"Ok. So what are you supposed to do?"
"I'm not supposed to do anything. In your opinion, the kid's just a little messed up in the head. Blame it on the genes. Your life is worse than his could ever be. But in his opinion, his life is pretty well screwed. No parents, no life, got the cops after him, best friend's a Crispy Critter, and his sire doesn't want anything to do with him. Life's a living hellhole. No one to relate to."
"So?"
"Beatin' the tar outta him ain't gonna work. It'll just piss 'im off. So Plan A's outta the question. Time for Plan B. What the kid needs is some TLC: Tender Lovin' Care. You're the only thing he's got. So what you gonna do? Hate or love, kid? Your choice." He bowed slightly, tipping his hat, then disappeared, leaving Summer alone.
With a really pissed off kid.
*~*~~``
Yeah, it's short, and (most likely) sucks, but right now, my brain's fried, and I frankly don't care. And they're going to get shorter, because I'm coming down with a cold (one week before school starts to top it all off), and am currently wacked up on Scooby Snacks. Let's just say I'm really not in the condition to write anything but mediocre. Leave me alone about it.
Now that the demon was gone, so was the bond holding Saethi. He shook his head and glanced around behind, tasting the air, something had been in here. . . He glanced back at Summer and blinked blood out of his eyes. He motioned to wipe his brow with the back of his hand, only succeeding in slashing another wound on it. The blood dripped slowly off his knuckles.
Saethi?s eye twitched, little humanity in him wincing with the pain. The wound on his brow gave way for more protective barbs. His body was gradually removing any weakness from his body, what little bare flesh there was bled or was covered by his haggard clothes.
Saethi smirked at Summer and raised a fist. Summer brushed aside a loose hair and took a defensive stance. Saethi lashed out, Summer stepped backwards, narrowly avoiding a mortal blow. Blood flicked off his knuckles, landing on Summer?s face and droplets near her mouth. She spat violently, wave of nausea rushing to her head.
Saethi swung another fist, puncturing her shoulder. Summer cursed and kicked him in the ribs, Saethi staggered slightly with the force of the blow. New blood shined on barbs protruding from his chest, Summer winced and looked at her bleeding leg, without a weapon she was going to end up mortally wounding herself before he even broke a sweat. .
She glanced round the room, snatching up the chair Saethi had been sitting on. She bludgeoned Saethi using as much strength as she could muster. Saethi stumbled forward, broken parts of the chair falling off his shoulders. Summer rubbed her jarred arms, one hand clutching a rudimentary stake. Saethi turned to face her, black eyes glistening hatred. He ran forward and openhandedly slapped her into the wall. Summer cried out in shock and pain while the dust settled, all the while Saethi laughing.
Shakily she stood and raised the stake, determined on placing it firmly in his heart. Saethi raised a fist, taunting her forward, as she was about to come within striking range, he stopped. He let out a pain ridden ?Hurk. .? and fell on his knees, large glaive sticking out from between his shoulder blades. Mangus ripped it out, eyes ablaze with a fire of hatred. He stabbed it in again when Saethi rose awkwardly.
?Summer, get the hell out of here.?
Summer reluctantly nodded and limped towards him, slapping Saethi with the stake as she passed. Mangus gave a final thrust before helping her out of the room and locking the door behind them. Tasya greeted her with a stern look, ordering a medic to tend to her wounds.
?Lucky for you I came on site just at the right time,? she said, ?What the hell do you think you were doing Summer? You know what that bloody. .creature is capable of!? She sighed and sat on a desk, ?To think, I almost lost you just after I got you. I don?t know. .?
Summer sighed and slapped away the medic. A better plan might be needed than that one, the advice given might need to be accepted after all. . .
OOC: Yeah, I'm still here, my postie is just going REALLY SLOW! BTW--I'm gettin' your character introduced into the story in this story postie (which will come along shortly just not in this postie here) and then you will be able to resume responsiblity of your character. Mind you, that I DO have SOME idea of what I'm doing here . . . it's just that being a freshman (oh god, only three more years of high school and then I graduate!) demands ever more work than ever! X-X;; High school . . . evilness . . . ok, no more ranting. I'll try to get my post up as soon as I can, k?
