amiboshi
I really want to buy the new Bloody Roar game, so my brother and I rented it today. We played the heck out of it, and had lots of fun, plus I'm not very good at those finger-twisting combos (actually, I'm not good at combos period.) And I was wondering if this game gets really boring fairly fast. I mean, is it a rent it occasionally and keep your data kind of game, or a buy it kind of game? I just want to know what others thought of it before I go out and spend $45. ^^
Charles
Well, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is the only traditional fighting game for the GameCube and will be for quite some time. Also, the roster finally has a bruiser (think Zangief). So, it's somewhat well balanced also. But the game is somewhat primitive and won't appease fighting game purists. As a human, you've only got a punch and a kick button to master your skills with. So, if this game were an ocean, it definitely wouldn't be the deepest one in the world. All in all, don't spend the cash if you're a hardcore fighting fan. But, if you're a rookie-go for it. Maybe it'll prep you for Soul Calibur 2 later this year. ;)

I love fighting games, but I REALLY suck at them. I can never seem to do any combos. Which really sucks, because I wish I knew how to. So I guess I'm a fighting-game-rookie ;)
Wes
I myself wouldn't buy it. I played the demo at a store and beat it. I only played for 10-15 minutes, so unless it can become much harder, (I'm not sure what difficulty level it was on, options were blocked) it's fun won't last too long. NorykoAngelcry
Honestly, I liked this game. I myself did not purchase it, but my good friend Steve did. He played it to death, and back, wanting to challenge anyone who came over to play it. While not very good at it, I still could do my fair amount of whooping up while still not REALLY knowing what it was that I was doing. Don't get me wrong. I love fighting game (not the best, but a good genre of games), but this game wasn't too hard to get the basics down (perhaps a good thing though?). I thought the graphics were very nice, and the battle system wasn't too bad. All in all, you did the right thing. Rent it first, if by the end of the 3-5 days you have it, you are still hooked, I would possibly consider buying it. I normally just run out and buy stuff before bothering to rent it, but you probably are doing the smarted way =)

amiboshi
Well, we decided not to buy it. Though it wouldn't have been too big a deal for me, my brother gets a little $3 a week, so it would have been a good deal of money for him. We decided we had almost over-played it, in the 5-day rental, we unlocked all the characters, a few levels, and some cheats. We figured if we wanted to play it again, we'd rent it, but it would probably just sit there if we bought it......though I'm like NorykoAngelcry, I liked the basic gameplay. ^^ This game was really cool, but I've decided just not enough there to buy it... Hyper
Its ok. once you unlock new characters. and when you master beast drives. ohh that is soooo much fun watching your opponent get shredded up by a sliver unborn.
Sephiroth
the game ain't half bad, it's not up to my standards of fighting, when playing a fighting game I love to get the most out of it with combos, etc. which unfortunately BR3 does not have a lot of, this game is only worthy of a rental in my opinion.... but if you are not a fighting game purist, like myself, then go for it....
