Are clothes a big deal at your school? Do you have to where all the High Dollar clothes like Tommy or polo to be in the "Popular" group? I was just wondering. At my school its pretty big. You go the Preppy polo wearing group, then you have the middle class who wear nice clothes but not the overpriced tommy stuff, then you have the people who wear the same stuff like three days in a row. I am middle. I could probably buy the polo stuff but I dont see the point. Your just getting ripped off when you can buy a t shirt just as good for about 40 bucks cheaper. I do spend alot on stuff like Jerseys, jackets, and pants. But I get most of my stuff at foot locker and pac sun.

I don't think they're really that big a deal at my school. Although the "popular" girls (although they're still my little 'group' of friends I hang out with) wear the little shorts that their butts hang out of and the super-tight (I mean really tight) shirts, which they ultimately shouldn't wear......but we don't really have the "how much did you pay for that?" kinda thing going. And I personally just wear what's comfortable to me. Which usually just happens to be my jean shorts and my black Gap shirt. Nice 'n' comfy. ^^

What do you think? Hell, if you can afford them, then buy them! I wear Abercrombie and Fitch and American Eagle and all that other crap, and if you don't wear that, you're out. That's the only way to fit in!
I just can't get enough!!!!!!

There's certain things, I suppose, that fit in with specialized "cliques"... at my old HS, there wasn't the... let's say... super popular group. I guess everyone knew everyone in one way or another. It's like the 6 degrees of serperation. I can link Billy from the Hick group to Jamal of the African-American group back to Bryan of the nerd to Jimmy of the Goths in 8 turns!... But really... clothes don't make who you are. If you believe that then please.. put a gun to your head and save us the misery.

As far as the what I can afford non-sense.... I can afford Ambercromie and Fido or whatever.... do I buy that sh*t? Hell no... Do I want to be popular?... or shall I say "did"... of course, who doesn't... but do I let my clothes be the one that makes me popular? Yeah right... and be some trend following zombie of American society... NO THANK YOU. All the popular kids are Christian, should I change my religion over it... no... I didn't think so... I was well known by people in HS because I was nice. I had like... 3 people that didn't like me over the 7 years after I got out of Elementory school... And all three of those people were idiots anyway, so it didn't matter to me what they thought... I don't listen to them...

Anyway, enough of my rambling... you could come to school in rags for all I care. If you're smart, nice, and have a good personality, I'll like you. In fact the majority of the time I couldn't stand the preppys.... speaking of which, one of them came by work today... he embarrased himself... it was rather funny.

Actually, I kinda wish my school had uniforms, especially like the ones they have in Japan. Girls look so hot in them... I can't imagine a whole school full of girls wearing them. tries real hard anyway

when you have to wear the uniform we have to wear for the first time, it makes you feel like a business man.... :drunk: it's awkward, and you feel like you're missing a suitcase... :drunk:

...O_O...

In my school, we wear uniforms too... they're black... and extremely annoying in the summer...

But when we sometimes get to wear normal clothes to school, I wear a pair of really baggy black Bolts (uh... pants, trousers... whatever) and a light shirt with chinese designs on it and a long sleeved t-shirt under that ^^

Nooooo, we never have those "out of uniforms" days.... We always have to wear our uniform.... it's a private school, so that sucks even more... o.O

At my old high-school, they had a uniform, but everyone would wear normal clothes anyway. That school is a riot... o.O the teachers have no control....

Not really, we have uniforms, but people wear a certain combination of the clothes depending on what group their in, you can tell immediately. My grade has many sluts, I mean MANY, the dress code is 2 inches max above the knee, but they fix that when teachers aren't watching, and they NEVER check, and they all just wear thongs, none of those really short shorts [I forget the name, hey I'm a guy, I shouldn't know], although I should but I don't flip skirts, anymore

We wear uniform in our school, but people can wear whatever tie they want. Then they group themselves by tie colors. Seems like some people just have to have their own little groups. But I have my friends, so whatever they do is fine with me.....

In my school you are set into a class on how you dress, I am set in between it all, I wear a combination of stuff the only think I don't wear is expensive junk like Ambercrombie and Finch it makes no sense to me why you should spend so much money on clothes when you could get something more usefull for less of a price. Does't make sense to me.

But yes our school is very judgemental about our clothes. I wish we could get uniforms..

at my school, groups aren't made because of clothes. it's just an accessorie to classify/ sterotype you. People form groups like the populars because of who they are and how they act. the populars are always acting snobbish to you and making fun of you. they aren't relaly popular because of whatr they wear, but they do usually wear a certain type of clothing.
the poplular girls(I don't really know about how the poplar thing goes w/ guys cuz i'm not one. i don't even know if they HAVE poplulars.) are usually wearing sluty things. like short shorts, those really low waist jeans, expensive shirts, A TON OF MAKE UP(whcih makes them look like crud), and i know i'm missing others, but i can't think of them right now and i think you get the point.
so, clothes don't really make you popluar, they DEFINE you more.

I wish my school had uniforms, but yeah, like the ones in Japan. I would hate wearing a long skirt. :p But I still wish we had uniforms. I hate the big fuss over clothes. It's so annoying. And no one follows the dress code at my school.....it's like ....I didn't want to see that.....

I think it's sad how popular people have to have certain amount of money, certain types of clothes and all that other crap just to be considered 'popular'. It's pathetic and I don't understand why it matters I mean it is just high school and they aren't gonna remember each others names in a year when they leave for college.

At my school the whole popular kids live the REALLY rich neighborhood and have all known each since elementary school...
But most of the popular people at my school aren't really the people that look down on everyone.... I mean of course tehy look down on people, or else they wouldn't be the evil popular people they were. But some of them are the worst people that have no character or personality whatsoever and it is so sad. I feel bad for them that they can't even have their own thougths without getting booted out of the group...

There are alot of stuff I like that is top brand and if I have the money I will buy it if I like it. But unlike others I also think Wal-Mart clothes are fine. Pac-Sun clothes are not too cheap but they are cool and I like them so I buy them. But as for Tommy and polo jeans thats were I draw the line. I held a Pair of Silver tabs up to a pair of polo. Exactly the same look, fibers and both made from the same stuff. Only difference was labels. Polo was about 80 bucks and the silver tabs was 45. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out which pair I bought. But I still see millions of people wearing polo. If you have the money to waste go for it. I dont enjoy wasting money so I make the smart economical choice.

Yep, Rick Hunter and I know all about clothes being a big deal in High School. First off there was no such thing as populars. Whoever you hanged out with mostly are your peoples and there are those who know who you are but don't really care. Our 'Dress Code' was a solid color buttoned shirt, no jeans or cargo pants, no boots, school sweater or vest and a black or red tie. It was the pits for us at least. (Well those who mainly went to catholic schools) If you was caught violating the dress code, its all over for you. The dean will take you out, make you regret it and then some if its not the first time. I'm just gald I'm in college now and I just gotta worry bout shirts with curse words or something.
